Great find in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

This was my family's first time spending our summer vacation in Maine and on the ocean (we typically gather on a lake in the upper Midwest). The Lady Slipper House, and Harpswell, were a great way to be introduced to summertime in Maine.

The house worked well for our three generations (none of whom have trouble with stairs, and all of whom were plenty accommodated by the two full baths). The property was neat as a pin, and exactly as advertised. The kitchen was perhaps the best-stocked of any kitchen in my 20 years of vacation rentals. Outside, we enjoyed the screened-in porch, deck and ocean access.

But perhaps the very best thing about the Lady Slipper House is its location. Near enough to Brunswick for supply runs into town (and gelato at Gelato Fiasco and produce at the farmer's market), yet convenient to the farther reaches of Harpswell for all the hiking and water-oriented activities -- including lobster pounds and shacks -- you go to Downeast Maine to enjoy. For those wishing to stray farther afield, Bath, Freeport and Popham SP all make for easy day trips.

Last, the 6- and 4-year-old set were crazy about the awesome playground equipment at the Harpswell Community School, and the adults appreciated that it was only a 3 minute drive away.

Beautiful home for family gathering

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home. It was a huge space, comfortable, well stocked and very clean. We felt right at home, as did our toddler who loved the pirates cove room. We explored Harpswell, Brunswick, Bath, Boothbay Harbor, and Portland from the central location and also played golf at two top-10 courses. It was a very special week for our group and we would highly recommend this home.

Spacious and well appointed

  • 5 of 5

This is a great house-beautiful and comfortable. It was hard to leave its dock and kayaks, and lobsters nearby! The 7 of us (including a 4 yr old) had plenty of room, even without the closed-off part of the house (the master bedroom?). We couldn't have been happier.

Wonderful spot for family gathering

  • 5 of 5

This is a big and lovely spacious home in a beautiful spot. Our family enjoyed kayaking, swimming and fishing from the dock and had a lot of fun cooking together in the large and very well supplied kitchen. We loved having coffee on one of the decks or the screened in room off the living room. Harpswell is beautiful. Make sure you make the drive down to Erica's Seafood on the next peninsula and buy fresh inexpensive seafood at Gurnett's just up the road. Brunswick is thriving and is a nice nearby town.

Perfect vacation for our family

  • 5 of 5

We're a family of 4 with two teenagers who like to be on the water, kayak, hike, cook, eat out, explore, shop and stay at homes with all the amenities for an enjoyable stay. This house fit all our needs - clean, new, large, on the water and only a short drive to restaurants and shopping. The owners take pride in their property and it shows. We hope to return next year!
