This group of buildings is intended to recover the original use of housing (having the same standard of architectural qualities as those buildings existent in the area in which they are located) and simultaneously contributing to the recovery of the living and urbanisation qualities of Chiado’s area.
The buildings are located in an urban area defined by the Municipal Plan as “Housing in an Historical Area”. This group of buildings will in the near future constitute an urban landmark, as they will be included in a new axis connecting Cais do Sodré/Chiado through the construction of the “Bragança Terraces”. The ground floors, not adequate for housing, are reserved for services due to their characteristics of direct contact with the people.

Chiado is Lisbon's most elegant and trendy neighborhood is where everyone meets for coffee, shopping, or before dinner and a night out in neighboring Bairro Alto.
Most of the buildings are from the 1700s (many of them renovated in the 1990s by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira after their destruction by a devastating fire in 1988), but the neighborhood is a flashback to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the "Belle Époque" when writers such as Fernando Pessoa and Eça de Queiroz used to write at the now-historic cafes.
