About Beki

Kevin owns the Inn and runs it with his daughter Beki from the UK. Kevin has lived and worked in the area for many years and alongside running the Victorian home as a bed & breakfast plus wedding venue he specializes in real-estate for the Central Coast. Kevin has a passion for music and guitars and can always point you to the best live music in town.

Beki grew up in Wales and has been running the Kaleidoscope for 2 years. She loves going for hikes in the area, reading on the beach and meeting people as they come through.

Beki purchased this bed and breakfast in 2002

Why Beki chose Central Coast California

Perfect weather, at 72 degrees average temp and rain only in the winter .... and not much then! Only four miles to the ocean keeps the weather enough away to be out of any possible fog but close enough to stay cool. Beautifully refinished Victorian home and the acre of gardens/patios gives you and your friends and family a perfect place to reconnect over a weekend or a week.

This place is Relaxing! Everyone who enters the house or garden is amazed at the instantaneous feeling of peace and happiness they feel. Even children and dogs feel it. This property is truly blessed with positive energy. Come feel it for yourself!

What makes this bed and breakfast unique

Great place for the whole family to get together and hang out! The acre of gardens are a wonderful place to relax on a sunny afternoon and the open fire in the living room is a wonderful place to gather around on a cooler evening and enjoy the home's library.

perfect for family get-away

  • 5 of 5

Rented the entire property for family lodging for a wedding being held nearby. We decided to host an event on the property as well as the gardens are lovely. Everything went perfectly the entire weekend. Beki, the property manager and host is lovely and extremely accommodating. We all had a wonderful time. I recommend it without hesitation.

Great spot for big gathering

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful location, comfortable rooms and beautiful outdoor spaces for a large group gathering. Highly recommend this out of the way spot for anyone needing lots of rooms, bathrooms and space for a relaxing, fun event. Only real suggestion would be to have some outdoor space heaters available so that folks could stay outdoors to enjoy the quiet patio area once the sun goes down and the cool breezes start to blow.

Will definitely keep this in mind for any future events in the area.

Interesting house, beautiful yard, central location, bothersome interruptions

  • 3 of 5

The location was ideal for family members from SF, LA and Chicago to meet and do wine country tours. The yard is beautiful, fenced in and was loved by our 3 dogs. Unfortunately the rainy winter weather did not allow us to dine outside as we wanted. The kitchen served as a gathering point as the family which baked copious quantities of bacon buns. Becky was the friendly point person and quick to return calls. The house served to remind me how lucky we were to avoid buying a Victorian during our early house hunting years. Heating was surprisingly great and the hot water supply plentiful. Beds varied in firmness...so we picked and chose to fit our needs. While the house is in good shape, wear and tear is starting to show up and the property needs some significant touch up on trim indoors and out. Some flooring under the carpet is soft, suggesting broken flooring, particularly near one bathroom which almost ended up in a turned ankle. We stepped on some nails in a doorway (quickly remedied by Becky and her friend). The major issue was running into unexpected strangers on the property 3 days running. The owners were showing the property for wedding events or B&B...something that I have not run into in similar rentals. A heads-up would have been polite. Better yet they need to decide if its a B&B or VRBO...Jacko's steak house was recommended but at 6pm we were told the wait was 3 hrs! We picked up a pizza in a neighboring town.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! It is such a shame that we were getting some of our much needed rain when you were here, dining in the garden is definitely a lot of fun! With a house of this history some of the original features require regular maintenance, we are sorry for any trouble caused and have addressed the floor repairs. In regards to the garden tours, based on your feedback we are taking care to schedule our bride meetings and events away from VRBO bookings. Sadly with the house being so charming there will always be the odd unexpected curious passer-by! When possible we will notify guests in advance if others will be around. Jockos is very popular, I am sorry the wait was too long for you to get to try them. If you do get the chance to go in it is worth the wait! Often putting in a reservation ahead of your stay can get you in at a good time. Apologies that this was not feasible for your visit. We are endeavoring to create the best stay possible and are grateful for your feedback and helping us to improve! Hopefully with a bit of effort we can give an excellent experience for future guests!

Our whole family stayed, it was great!

  • 5 of 5

We decided to use the kaleidoscope for a small family reunion. It was perfect! The kids had so much fun in the gardens and playing hide and seek. The rest of us got to spend time relaxing and reconnecting. It couldn't have been a better weekend! The beds were so comfy too, highly recommend to anyone.

I love the Kaleidoscope Inn! We go as often as we can . It is a charming Victorian with beautiful gardens that has a comfortable, homey feel. Carolayne's southern hospitality is amazingly welcoming. Her recommendations are fabulous. We have a marvelous time on the Central Coast, at the beaches and restaurants mostly. The breakfast is sumptuous fare for body and soul that holds us all day.

This beautifully restored Victorian home has an ocean-close location in Nipomo, midway between LA and San Francisco. We are near 3 amazing wine regions with over 400 Wineries....Santa Ynez Valley, Edna Valley & Paso Robles. Ten minutes from great Beaches, including Pismo Beach, Shell Beach, Avila Beach and the Nipomo/Guadelupe Dunes State Park. Just 10 minutes to the Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly preserve where 10's of thousands of butterflys live from Fall until February/March, a breathtaking sight. We are just 45 minutes to famous Hearst Castle and Solvang. Plus our area has both Southern California Beaches and Northern California dramatic ocean/cliff interfaces since we are at the southern end of Big Sur. Tons of amazing hiking is available through nature preserves, through the largest coastal dunes on the pacific ocean, up on mountain ridges overlooking the ocean, tide pools, blow holes, Montana de Oro State Park, Morro Bay State Park and estuary. Kayak, surf, hike, paraglide, zipline, paddleboard, sail, whale watch to your hearts content :) Also tons of sea lions at the San Luis Harbor + sea lions and sea otters at Morro Bay harbor!

Out in Nipomo itself you will find us in the center of old town Nipomo with quaint old stores still lining the roads and plenty of historical points of interest to go explore near by. You especially cannot beat the view of the gorgeous Nipomo Hills surrounding this area.

The whole of the central coast has some phenomenal place to eat, including the award winning Jocko's Steak House 1 block from the Inn.
