PLEASE NOTE: our four cabins in Grand Lake and Estes Park are a 35 year family business. We are not a hotel, we do our best to make sure that every guest and group are happy. The cabins are in the mountains and therefore small furry and crawly friends may visit from time to time, especially in the late fall. All of our cabins are NO SMOKING inside or on the decks and patios, the Rocky Mountains are under constant fire danger and our cabins are all made of wood. We also want to respect the smells and preferences of other guests. If our onsite managers smell smoke of any type then the entire deposit is forfeit. Our cabins in Estes Park are on well systems. That means the sinks can have streaks when clean and the HOT TUBS can be off color as the minerals react with the cleaning chemicals. The water is safe to drink and very clean! PETS are allowed in BOTH cabins, however, we only cater to dogs and only very well behaved ones. This cabin can have 2 dogs, the other only 1. Please keep dogs crated when not home. We do not have dog runs at this time. Please clean up after dogs. We employ an additional cleaning service for pet dander and rug shampoo so that our allergic guests are also happy. We charge a $40 pet fee for EACH dog that is not usually reflected in the price quote. FIRE: we have gas fire pits at both houses, wood burning is not allowed in Estes Park vacation rentals. PARKING: we have room for 6 vehicles at each house, but we want to be good neighbors so we only permit 3 without contacting us before you book so we can make sure that both cabins aren't simultaneously full. CAMERAS: we have live closed circuit cameras on the driveways, the main decks, and the water front. These are for safety and security and are only accessed by the owner. There are no recording devices anywhere inside the cabins

WEDDINGS & EVENTS:

We allow up to 5 weddings each summer. There is a large deck on the (1907) house and plumbing to accommodate up to 60 people. The cabin (1895) is on a septic system that cannot support large groups.

The additional site fee that covers trash, wear & tear, and a site coordinator is:

$1000 up to 20 people

$1500 up to 40 people & you must rent both houses

$2000 up to 60 people & rental of both houses.

*Important! Some wedding businesses in Estes Park are not allowed on our property, please inquire.

Larimer county also has a rule that limits parties to 40 without a permit and limits the number of events each year, so we also limit the number of weddings and event we will permit each year on the property.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

If both cabins are rented then we will keep 10% within 6 months of check-in

Each cabin will keep

25% if cancelled within 90 days

50% if cancelled within 60 days

100% if cancelled within 30 days.

Our cabins book a year out, it's more difficult to make last minute arrangements so VRBO recommends getting their insurance against cancelations for medical and other last minute issues.

About Mike Thomas

Our immediate family has been in Estes, Grand Lake, and Rocky Mountain National Park since my parents got married in Estes in 1982. Before that my Grandfather frequented the Estes YMCA starting in the 50s. We have had a family cabin at Lemmon Lodge in Grand Lake since 1986 and love the area more than anywhere else on Earth. Rocky Mountain National Park will always be the center of our Colorado home.

Mike Thomas purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Mike Thomas chose Rocky Mountain National Park

This cabin is made for family reunions and family gatherings. We love to help make memories and appreciate guests who come back year after year. Our goal is that every stay in the Rockies is unique and wonderful, and that we can share our love of the mountains with other families and new friends.

What makes this cabin unique

We are the ONLY two properties in Estes Park for rent that sit directly on the lake. The views are beautiful, as are the different seasons and the amazing wildlife that makes the area its home. We have unobstructed views of the snowcapped Rockies and continental divide, as well as the surrounding nature with regular visits from bald eagles and elk.

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé and I got married here Labor Day weekend and it could not have been better. The views were more beautiful than pictures show, and the deck was spacious enough for us to do everything we wanted. Mike was very helpful and the homes are both stocked with many helpful items. All of our guests were very comfortable, everything in Estes Park is just minutes away from the homes, and we couldn't have found a better place to have our wedding. We hope to return very soon!

Ideal place for a large group to stay near Rocky Mountain National Park

  • 5 of 5

I must first admit, I did not choose this house because of "the view." I needed a place with at least 4 bedrooms, and I loved the pictures of the inside of the house on-line. It looked comfortable and family-friendly and the reviews were so compelling. Now I'd like to add another glowing review; this "cabin" on the lake was better than we hoped for or imagined! It is beautifully decorated with a lot of natural light. Having never visited Colorado, I did not realize how lovely the weather is in summer, allowing for open windows with cross-flow of air and a breathtaking wrap-around deck that drew us outside all hours of the day. It was cool enough at night to enjoy the beautiful glass-covered fireplace, even welcoming our grandchildren with it a few mornings! There are lights strung over the deck, which are festive and lovely. There is a huge dining table on the deck, where we sat 12 one night. And the fire pit was fun and enhanced our evenings too! Like others have said the owner was so kind and helpful before and during our stay. The paved path around the lake was easily accessible, safe, and a nice perk. One afternoon we spied a bear draped over a tree limb asleep! We rented a pontoon and paddle board from the marina. The cabin couldn't be more convenient: to RMNP, the town, grocery store, gas station, outdoor equipment rental, even Starbucks! Last, but not least, this cabin does in fact have the BEST VIEW in Estes Park. It is breathtaking every single day, in every direction, sunrise and sunset, with postcard-worthy photos surrounding you. I cannot recommend this house highly enough. It was a treat to stay there.

Outstanding View and comfort!!

  • 5 of 5

Place was perfect for our family and grandsons, plenty of room and just chilling out at "The Cabin" was enough for us at times.

The bedrooms worked out great and the piano in the master bedroom gave our grandsons a chance to play Reveille in the morning for our wake-up call.

Mike and his family took care of our every needs with an early check-in to a cherry pie (which was awesome).

We also had a night visitor (black bear) who entertained us with his dumpster diving.

I highly recommend staying here, its close to Estes Park and The Rockies. Thanks Mike and Family for a lifetime of memories,

Rick and Beth Iowa

Excellent house for large family. Excellent location with a gorgeous view of the lake. Our experience was OK however if the porch remodeling project was completed, the dishwasher was functional and more attention was given to the routine maintenance our stay would have been outstanding.

What a wonderful place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

We had our first family reunion with our kids here. All was outstanding from the magnificent view to spacious living area? Our stay began with a greeting from Mike and his family. Mike was always concerned about our comfort. We loved meeting the whole family. There isn't a more perfect place that we could have chosen.

Great Location and House!!

  • 5 of 5

Great location right on the lake. House has plenty of room. We have 5 in our family and had another family of 5 along with another adult and had plenty of room. Deck was awesome with a gas fire pit to enjoy the evening looking over the lake. Kids loved the huge projector TV in the basement along with tether ball by the driveway. We brought our ATVs and kayaks with us. ATV trails are plentiful and close by. You do have to trailer them to the trail. We drug our kayaks down to the lake and launched them from there. Did not have any trouble until the last day when a guy from the marina across the lake told the kids they were not allowed to launch the boats from private property and had to be rented from the marina. No big deal for us since it was the last day when we found out but just a heads up if you plan to bring kayaks or canoes along. We caught a few trout and a tiger muskie from the shore in front of the cabin.

Great place you won't regret renting it!!
