Spent 4 nights at Deb's house for my son's wedding in Edmond. The house was very impressive. All of our guest were very excited about all it offered. The patio, gazebo, lazy river, boardwalk around the backyard, the pool table and ping pong table along with the living areas and kitchen. We had a great time. The cabin was perfect for the bridle couple. There was a problem with the lock on the cabin so I texted Deb and she and her husband were there in no time trying to get it fixed. When they were unsuccessful, they called a locksmith and had it fixed in a couple hours.
There is a grocery store and restaurants plus a movie theater all within a mile. Kickingbird Golf Course is also less than a mile from the house and an excellent course.
The bedrooms were spacious and there was more than adequate seating for everyone. We had a great time and would not hesitate to stay at the "Country in the City" again.
I stayed with my family to attend my niece's wedding and I must say that we had such a great time. I asked Deb if we can have some guests over for dinner and she was so accommodating. I would highly recommend this place to friends and family. The bedrooms and bathrooms were super clean with fresh linens. The place is huge and the backyard, hammock and the gazebo were quite relaxing. We played pool, cooked and enjoyed our stay with no disappointments. Thank you Deb and Brian for your attentiveness to details and being accurate in the description of your home. It is a (beautiful) country in a city!
As someone who relies heavily on reviews to make decisions, I try to be as honest with mine as possible. I try to avoid both “glowing” reviews and “harsh” reviews, so here goes.
First, the location of this house is just excellent. It is one of the older houses in a very quiet, rural, upscale development. Couldn’t ask for a better place for taking leisurely walks or biking – lots of trees and little traffic. The property is larger than many in the development and is richly planted with a variety of flowers, trees and shrubs. It’s the kind of property that a master-gardener would have including a greenhouse with potting tables and several elaborate water features. But, it’s the kind of property that requires a ton of maintenance but receives only 1,500 pounds. Things are a bit overgrown and some of the wood on the boardwalk trails is a bit beyond its useful life. The patio area, however is very, very large and appears to be almost new and well furnished. And outdoors there are several very nice options for relaxing, reading or “whatever”.
We found the main parts of the house to be very clean. However, as I sit here with my laptop on the desk in the kitchen, I am looking at a couple of inches thick of spider webs at the window and corners that have been there for quite some time. The same can be found in other corners as well.
The house itself is very roomy with lots of sofas. So, it definitely is suited to large groups. Be aware, though, that there are multiple levels of one step or two which may not be suitable for people with mobility problems or people with short attention spans. Tripping is a definite issue - especially between the dining area & kitchen. The house does not lend itself well for people who want to read either. The abundance of dark wood and scarcity of lights of low wattage makes that a challenge. In fact, we all thought it was one of the darkest houses we have ever spent time in. I honestly had to go outside to read.
The property lists four bathrooms but, in reality, one is only a powder room with only cold water. Looks like there is an issue with the hot water and the valve is turned off. The advertised recreation area is in a spacious three-car garage and does have a nice pool table, weights, punching bag, TV, dart board & exercise bike. However, we could not make use of this area because it was in the mid 90’s and there was no A/C in this room and no windows to open. The garage doors could not be opened either.
It met our every need for our families. It was great to have room to sit and have fun with everyone and then enough space when someone needed to talk or was tired . Was only 20-30 mins away from town and softball fields, We enjoyed our stay
We were coming to town for a wedding. We hit the jackpot with this place. Very nice home and nicely decorated. Allowed us to be together and prepare our own meals in a wonderful kitchen. Plenty of parking. Would recommend to anyone.
This property had everything advertised on VRBO. It was clean, had all the amenities advertised, and was close to all the activities and restaurants we were interested in frequenting. The owners were very responsive and accommodating to us from the date we booked it through the time we left. They allowed us earlier than normal check in and were readily available to us to answer any questions and concerns throughout our stay. The property was set up nicely and we found ourselves spending more time at the house in the evening than out around the town. Everyone in our party spoke highly and favorably of this property and the owners. I would highly recommend this property and would stay here again if I returned to Edmond.
