|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
Maison de Gardien is a 19th century caretaker's house. Recently renovated, it is a spacious and cozy holiday home. Many families returned 3/4/5 times.
They came back for many reasons: your beds are made when you arrive and towels are provided (but bring extra for the pool). We take care of the cleaning at the end of your stay. The house is very comfortable; beds are of good quality! In the livings room are a large flat screen with Blue Ray and dvd's, books, games etc.
Best of all is that this is a unique, 'secret' place at a dead-end road in the woods; still near (five minutes) from Disneyland and just 30 minutes from Paris. There are red squirrels and lots of birds around the house.
The houses is set in a 2 acre garden, with lots of space, a playground with zipline, swings etc., a badminton field, a large pool with terrace etc. Email us for more details.
Things to do...: Disneyland Paris is five minutes away Paris is 25/30 minutes by car, 40 minutes by train. A car is necessary, but if you would arrive by rail or air, there are car rental companies at the airports (Charles de Gaulle and Orly) as well as at the station Chessy/Marne la Vallée (at Disneyland Paris). Eurostar, Thalys and TGV trains stop at this station.
There are numerous golf courses nearby. In the house you will find guidebooks, brochures and maps. Also walking trails in Paris or the country-side. The Champagne area is very doable in a day with tastings along the way.
There are markets in nearby villages with fresh local produce (you are in the area of the Brie cheese) but you will find almost anything that will satisfy your culinary taste!
We would be happy to advise you further!
We are a Dutch couple living in France since 1992 and moved here when our children were 5, 3, and 1. The kids no longer live at home. Mieke wanted to keep chicken so Vic - with help of his sons when they were around - built a coop that resembles somewhat the Moulinsart castle from TinTin.
Maison de Gardien means Caretakers House and was part of a larger estate that the previous owners broke up and sold. There is a chateau nearby that once was the main property to which the Maison de Gardien belonged. The property was built around 1860. Mieke and Vic do most of the maintenance but the more serious constructions, plumming, roof, electricity etc. is done by professionals.
Mieke and Vic Van Den Brandeler purchased this cottage in 1998
Location, Location, Location,
We bought this property for its beauty and the location; Very near DIsneyland and Paris, but still in a very green spot. Our garden is part of a small forest (100 hectares or approximately 200 Acres). The area is protected; no building permits are handed out, which is unique as this is the fastest growing part of France with mushrooming villages nearby. From this Maison de Gardien it is very easy to get to Paris or to any other site as you are near two main highways: The A4 will get you to Paris or if you drive to the east you are within one hour in Reims or Epernay; the heart of the champagne area (and yes we can guide you to some excellent small producers with bottles around 15 euros). There are many fantastic Chateaux in the area: Vaux le Vicomte, Fontainebleau Champs, Chantilly Pierrefonds and many more. Also the medieval city Provins is within a 45 minute drive.
But why leave; in the summer you have a the pool at a constant 27/28°. When it gets colder you have a fireplace. Children love the garden and the woods with the swings, a zipline, a badminton field and the red squirrels and lots of birds.
Still you will need to d some shopping; well Val d'Europe is five minutes away. A huge mall with outlet, but there is also the open air market in Lagny three times a week. Lagny is even older than Paris.... and just five minutes from the house.
Mieke and Vic rented many houses themselves and promised to offer their own guests better beds than they had to sleep in. Apart from the setting in this garden, the Maison de Gardien is in an excellent location to explore Paris and its environment and after a busy days in the park or city it is a peaceful homecoming. You uncork something and put something on the BBQ dip in the pool or light up your Giant TV with Blue ray (and yes many dvd's are available too). And no worries - there is wifi too. Book early as typically the school holidays fill very quickly.
This is the third rental we've had in France and by far the most beautiful. From the fabulous gardens and period style of the house, to the amazing location, to the woods that the kids just loved playing in, we really enjoyed our time and didn't want to leave.
A quirky but excellent layout, ten minutes from Disney, really close to Paris, close to the supermarket and a huge shopping mall (which is a bit expensive), and within driving distance of Versailles, we have nothing but good things to say about both the house and Vic and Mieke, who made us feel very welcome. House was clean, tidy, plenty of towels provided, heating and air con too.
We'd love to come back !!

The property is so much better than the pictures. A real gem of a place. Very much a home so comfy and cozy.
We were so happy with everything.
Will be recommending this place
This is the second time we have stayed in the cottage and will definatly be retuning. The cottage is full of charm and set in beautiful surroundings, the pool is heated and private and The facilities such as the washing machine, dryer, large bed and plenty of large towels made for a very comfortable stay. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who was looking for something in this area and it is a big plus that Disneyland is just a 10 minute drive away. We was even lucky enough to see a couple of deers wandering around the grounds in the mornings, very graceful beautiful animals, My only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer.
We are so , so happy to have found this beautiful place ! In a wooded surround this charming house with its magical tower had ourselves and our children enchanted . Minutes from Disney this archetypal French home had charm to spare , everything that was needed was encorporated and it could have been a million miles from anywhere with its charming surround , idyllic grounds and fantastic pool , we simply had the most amazing family break .
Add to this our hosts Mieke and Vic who made our stay something we will never forget adds to the fact we are so grateful to have encountered this property . They were warm , informative , charming , allowed us total space . We would not have known they were there until we wanted advice or assistance and they were so , so helpful . The combination of environment and hosts has made the week my wife , myself and our three children one of the most amazing experiences of France we could have hoped for . Thankyou so much for this stunning Gite in the most wonderful of surroundings
This was a 2-week family holiday (3 people) looking to combine some tourism and rest. For the first the property is excellently positioned. We didn't do Disneyland but many have from this property and it seems to work perfectly as an escape at the end of the day. Instead, we did the Champagne area, Giverny and some Chateaux, as well as Paris. All achievable from here. As for the rest, the property is secluded, peaceful and well set up. The hosts were helpful (lots of info sheets on shops/activities) and friendly but also discrete giving us free rein of the pool which was ideal as temps rose to 36C. The house is quirky but functional and hence great for a family with younger or older children. Sorry to have had to leave but that was made easier by the fact it is less than 3 hrs from Calais. Highly Recommended.
Maison de Gardien is een heerlijk vakantiehuis op een prachtig landgoed vlakbij Parijs. De bovenverdiepingen met slaapkamers en badkamer zijn uitstekend. De begane grond is wel toe aan een make-over! Airco's in alle ruimtes is geweldig.
The 'Maison de Gardien' is a beautiful cottage built around 1850. Recently completely renovated, it is a very comfortable home for a family of five (plus a baby). It is only a five minute drive to Disneyland and less then 30 minutes to Paris. From nearby stations (train or RER), it is a 40 minute ride to the centre of Paris. Val d'Europe is also five minutes away. This is one of Europe's largest shopping centres with an ever expanding outlet. There is a Sealife aquarium and many restaurants. Within an hour drive you can visit lots of Chateaux: Fontainebleau, Vaux le Vicomte, Compiègne and many more. Also the Champagne area is nearby. Parc Asterix is 30 minutes away. Outdoor lovers can enjoy hiking, biking, canoeing, horse riding and many more sports. A Go-Kart track is nearby. 'Maison de Gardien' is located close to the main house where the owners live. This is in the woods on the valley of the river Marne near Lagny sur Marne. We can guide you on Google Earth to locate the house!
