About John

We are Miami natives and consider the keys our second home.

We really enjoy the Keys laid back yet active lifestyle, where we go to disconnect from the city yet stay busy bicycling, boating, and enjoying the outdoors.

John purchased this house in 2015

Why John chose Big Pine Key

This home is the perfect family vacation home. Not only is it in a great neighborhood, close to all your shopping needs and on the water. Super quiet and safe neighborhood for kids to ride bike and play. Plenty of delicious restaurants nearby. 30 minutes to Key West and Marathon.

What makes this house unique

Home is located on a quiet cul de sac with plenty of yard space and plenty of key deer roaming in the neighborhood. Historic No Name Bridge and No Name Key are minutes away. No Name Pub is walking distance with great pizza. Our area is known for some of the best fishing in the keys.

Our rental home in Big Pine Key was clean, comfortable, easy to access, and was an enjoyable location for our group. We had a wonderful time at John's home and would highly recommend it for any family or large group of friends visiting the Keys

Paradise Found

First class all the way around. From location to amenities this home has it all for your escape from reality. The view from the home is spectacular from either the comfort of an air conditioned room or while relaxing in the pool, one can spend hours soaking in the scenery. Owner is very pleasant to deal with. Close to all attractions and great restaurants.

A good choice for the Lower Keys

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here in January 2017 with 4 adults and 3 kids, and there was plenty of room for everyone inside and outside. The house itself has lots of windows with great views over the water, and is in a very quiet residential neighborhood. It looks like it was completely remodeled inside and everything worked and looked new. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes, cookware, etc., and the beds were comfortable. We made frequent use of the pool and took the kayak out a few times as well. The house itself is 5 minutes from the grocery store and main highway, which was convenient. The key deer made a few stops in the yard as well, which everyone enjoyed.

There were only a few minor problems that caused us to lower the overall rating slightly. First, all of the bedroom doors are louvered, which means it can be noisy inside the house. Adult couples have zero privacy and there is no sleeping when anyone is in the kitchen or watching TV. Second, we did have quite a bit of seaweed that was onshore during a significant part of our stay. We understand that it is unusual for that time of year, and also that seaweed can wash up in different areas there, depending on the wind. What we didn’t know was how much it can smell like sewer. Unfortunately for us it meant we had to keep the windows closed and couldn’t sit outside or use the pool or kayak when the seaweed was present (which was about half the time). I don’t think this problem is in any way unique to this particular house, but is more of a general comment on the area.

The owner was perfectly pleasant to deal with and provided us all the necessary information about the property and area, and we didn’t have any issues with the contracts, security deposit, etc. As noted in the paperwork, it took about 4 weeks to get back the security deposit.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review Bill. Thank god that the winds took the seaweed out the next day after we talked. We are almost done with the permitting process to get a boom installed to ensure this issue is mitigated.

Lodi friends vacation

  • 5 of 5

We came down to get out of the Wisconsin cold to enjoy a week of fishing , boating and relaxing. When you walk in the front door you're immediately greeted by a spectacular view of the ocean vand the beautiful, open floor plan. The house was very clean, comfortable and relaxing. Plenty of room to gather as a big group, with plenty of area for quiet time as well. Great, quiet neighborhood,! We enjoyed walks everyday, and everyone we met was very friendly. The grocery store was a convenient 5 minute ride. John was so easy to work with and very accommodating with our requests and prompt to respond to our questions. The pool was very clean, well lit and just the right temp. I would recommend this house for families, older adults or young couples. Everything was on one level, the bedrooms were good sized and the beds comfortable. We couldn't ask for a better place. We will definitely look to coming back here next year. The key deer, Hrons andnPelicans that visited daily were an added bonus!

Beautiful location, comfortable, clean house

  • 5 of 5

The house is recently updated, so the bathrooms and kitchen are clean and new. The house is bright and airy, with big windows and a terrific view of the sea and the birdlife. The pool is well kept, narrow but a good length for laps. We were here for Christmas and the weather was mostly very good, sometimes windy, low 80s most days, with one cold day. We had a 6-year old and a 2-year old, and one person who uses a wheelchair and the house worked very well for everyone. The kids were excited about sleeping in bunks, loved the pool and the wildlife. The deer really do come up to house! The person with the wheelchair liked that the house is all on one floor and there are no steps to get in. Big supermarket 10 minutes drive away for shopping, though area around house feels remote and is very quiet. Couldn't have asked for a better vacation!

Anniversary Trip

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at this amazing Keys Home on 11/10/16-11/18/16. This was our first trip to the Keys in the month of November. The house was beautifully and tastefully decorated. The home's location was quiet yet close to many attractions. The Key deer visited the yard frequently which was a joy to our children. We simply could not have asked for a better place to spend our vacation. We plan on renting this home in the future to make many more memories.
