Best time at the farm! Hope to go back sometime!

We couldn't have asked for a better stay for our first adventure to Kentucky and staying in a rental house instead of hotel. Being our first time not staying at a hotel we were a bit skeptical of how it worked and what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised at how welcoming our hosts were and how beautiful the studio and farm was. The studio was plenty big enough for our energetic puppy and the two of us. It was nicely decorated, bright and cheery. Everything looked spotless and brand new. We were delighted to find a homemade breakfast in our fridge, kind note, and welcome gift upon our middle of the night arrival. We were worried about checking in late since we had a long drive but the hosts were very accommodating with our situation. Our dog was overjoyed with being able to explore their property and see lots of wildlife we don't see at home. We already miss the farm and relaxing in the hot tub. Staying at the farm was my favorite part of the trip. While a little far from all the bourbon trail activity, we didn't mind the drives and we're happy to end our days at the farm. When we couldn't make it back in time to give our dog dinner, our host was kind enough to offer to take care of him so we could enjoy a dinner out. Very touched by all of the extra help and accommodating nature of our hosts. Everything was wonderful! We hope to go back soon. Would recommend to anyone!

Hidden Gem

  • 4 of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this property. I was a bit concerned coming in, as the owners live immediately next door, I was worried about privacy. I had no need to worry! They introduced themselves when I arrived and that is the last I saw of them, unless it was by my instigation. The place was so clean and uncluttered. I loved sitting outside in the morning and watching the hummingbirds and butterflies as I drank my coffee. I even had visitors - Toby, Simon, and Loki - the owners' pets! They were friendly and adorable. Although, I did not make it to the outdoor sauna, it was very nice and peaceful. I appreciated the outdoor hot tub after a long day of sightseeing and shopping in Shelbyville. I will definitely keep this place in mind for my next weekend getaway in that area!

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was perfect and the property was gorgeous. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. We were in Kentucky enjoying the Bourbon Trail. We ended up spending a good amount of time in Bardstown, about an hour away. Coming back in the evening grilling some dinner and soaking in the hot tub was very relaxing. We would definitely stay there again.

Owner's Response: Dear Liz and Matt, We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! Your Bardstown exploration sounds great-an inspiration for a day trip for us this summer. There are so many unique distilleries and wineries in the area--we are still learning about new ones popping up. We hope to have you back again soon! Cindy and Dan

Bdautiful Property in an Excellent Location

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a pet friendly near the Bourbon Trail - this place fit our requirements to a "T". While it seemed a bit small by description, upon arrival, it was clean, spacious and beautifully appointed. Everything appeared brand new and - truly - one of the best beds we've ever slept on. Owners, Dan and Cindy were great. They provided a surprise welcome basket, fresh flowers and breakfast. Amazing people - they made recommendations and were super friendly and accommodating. We had worried a bit about the fact that the property didn't have a full kitchen, but it actually had everything we needed to eat all meals in - which we prefer to do - even having a deluxe steak meal on one night. The lack of freezer was no obstacle as Dan and Cindy provided ice daily - nothing like a freshly bought bourbon on the rocks after a day of distillery tours! The property was beautiful and our dog absolutely loved exploring and playing in the fields. We also loved the nightly visits by the deer! The hot tub was clean and a great way to relax. We also loved the way the place was decorated - we understand Dan is an art teacher and enjoyed some of his creations that were on display in the apartment and on the grounds. Really can't say enough good things about this gem. We primarily booked it due to it being pet friendly and it's centralized location to the portion of the Bourbon Trail we had planned - it was perfect. Our only regret is that when we go back to hit another part of the Trail, we may have to find a place further south to hit that area....but then again, this place is so amazing, maybe we'll just book here again and drive a bit further instead! Thanks for a wonderful stay! Dan, Renae & K9-Jager.

Cindy and Dan were perfect hosts. They left us breakfast for our first morning and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. They even welcomed us with a small gift. The property was beautiful. The cottage was even better than it looked in the pictures. Everything seemed to be brand new. The memory foam bed was wonderful. The hot tub was such a great way to unwind at night after the craziness of Derby weekend. Wish we had more time to just relax and enjoy the cottage and the property. Highly recommend this property if you want to stay close to Lexington or Louisville, but also want a relaxing country getaway. About 45 minute drive to either city. If you are in Louisville, Blu at the Marriott is a great place to have a nice dinner.
