About Aaron Lay

We are 4 friends that live in Denver and have been great friends for years. Our names are Jadd, Aaron, Craig and Troy. We all love to travel and decided to take a weekend vacation to Grand Lake in the summer of 2015. We fell in love with the charm of the town and the majestic beauty of the area.

This house is our vacation home that we will occupy throughout the year and will truly enjoy sharing it with guests. We want to share it with you as well.

We named the house 'The Eagle's Nest Lodge' because the house is perched above the town with unbelievable views from 'up above' of Shadow Mountain Lake & Grand Lake, and the beautiful Rocky Mountains. When you take a vacation here, life doesn't get much better than this. Contact us to reserve your vacation at 'The Eagle's Nest Lodge'.

Why Aaron Lay chose Grand Lake

When we bought the house we wanted to be able to walk into town but still have the peaceful serenity we enjoy with the empty space behind our home where we often see wildlife. The perfect location for us was on a hill directly north of the town. Our backyard opens up to an unimproved area that is owned by Grand Lake Lodge. We have ~15 acres that separates us from the Lodge. It is less than a 1/2 mile walk down the hill into town. We think you’ll love the location. We've enjoyed being close to town but also enjoyed seeing moose, elk and deer in our own yard. We believe it's the perfect combination of lake/mountain views, close proximity to town and peaceful mountain serenity. It is true mountain lodging at its best.

What makes this house unique

Grand Lake is a year round destination. During the summer you can enjoy boating on the 3 lakes, hiking, mountain biking, ATVs, 4th of July fireworks, and the list goes on. During the winter months Grand Lake is the snowmobiling capital of Colorado with over 100 miles of groomed trails. Skiing choices are numerous between the cozy Solvista resort nearby, Colorado's play ground at Winter Park and legendary champagne powder of Steamboat Springs. Perhaps the greatest year round draw of the area is Rocky Mountain National Park with it amazing scenery and abundance of wildlife.

Excellent property

  • 5 of 5

The house and the views were spectacular. I’ve stayed at this property three separate times now. Only issue this time was the hot tub. Jets and the heat went out and we had no hot tub one of two nights. I understand mechanical failure and that it can be unpredictable. A discount on the stay or even on a future stay would be a nice service recovery act. Either way I like this property and it is well worth checking out. Thanks for a great place to stay!

Such an amazing home in a beautiful small town! Just what we needed!!!

  • 5 of 5

This home was amazing with such great views located in a cute small town! We wanted to take a vacation and just get away from everything...this was a perfect place to kick back and relax! It was so peaceful and quiet and the beauty this town had to offer was beyond amazing! We had amazing views of grand lake, snow, and mountains. We did some ice fishing, snow mobiling, snow shoe hiking, and it was nice to go back and just relax in the hot tub the house had. We were even able to sled down the hill in front of the house (just like the owner said you could). The house was huge and could fit so many people (if that’s what you’re looking for). My fiancé and I had the luxury of having this home all to ourselves with our fur baby. The bed was comfortable and the house was just so cozy! The house had pretty much everything you need (towels, pots, pans, etc). Anytime I had a question the owners responded very quickly. Over all I highly recommend this house and town to just get away and relax. Thank you to the owners for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home! We created so many memories that we will never forget!

Very nice, very accomodating

  • 5 of 5

Fully equipment as represented. The three large bedrooms were great and the bunk room was very comfortable too. it was our base for X-C skiing and we all looked forward to coming home. Six, 60 something HS friends who mostly argued who was going to cook, the kitchen and utensils were great! The hot tub was enjoyed every night.

Beautiful views, comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six enjoyed five nights at the Eagle's Nest Lodge and it was perfect. We loved the views of the lake with the mountains in the distance, as well as the proximity to Winter Park and Granby. We spent two days skiing, went snowshoeing, ice skating, enjoyed a hay ride at Devil's Thumb Ranch, and spent a day at the YMCA camp. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-stocked, and we loved coming back to the warm fireplace and hot tub after a day of activities. We even got to enjoy the amazing fireworks display on NYE. We would love to return to Grand Lake in the summertime and will definitely consider coming back to the Eagle's Nest Lodge.
