Enjoy this newly renovated cottage on main street in chincoteague va. In the center of downtown coffee shops, restaurants, shopping, etc. Cottage contains all the simple comforts of home. A great inexpensive get-a-way for a couple or small family. Cottage includes kitchenette, refrigerator, microwave, full bed with pull out couch, separate room for bathroom, tv with dvd player and remote control adjusted heat / air conditioning.
My stay was good. Nice to be able to bring my dog. Furnishings are basic but what was provided matched the nightly rate. The area of the cottage is nice and quiet. FYI - no dogs are allowed in Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge - not even in a vehicle.
We rented this home for Thanksgiving and the following weekend and it was adorable. The house is small but it fit my family just fine. We traveled with an infant and two dogs and we were comfortable, there was enough room for a pack n' play as well. Also, something that is not really mentioned here is that there is a HUGE common area in front of this house. If you have pups or kids, this is an awesome bonus! Everything was clean, and has enough towels and linens with a few extras. Staying here was easier than staying at a hotel, I hope to book again during warmer months. Cheers!
Perfect for a couple, this one-room cottage (two rooms including bathroom) is ideally located at the center of town, within easy walking distance of the historic area. Situated across the street from the bay, behind a larger house, the cottage has privacy, is very quiet and has a large yard (which our dog appreciated). The furnishings are basic but functional, a shower but no bathtub. It could do with more kitchenware and more electrical outlets (bring a few extension cords). It has WiFi, cable TV and a modern HDTV with HDMI inputs. The owner is responsive and helpful. The National Wildlife refuge is a 10 minute drive away. All in all, a cozy bungalow at a modest price. We'll be back!
We were very happy with the cabin,we did buy a few things that we needed and left them for others use.Nice tv and internet made rainy day lots nicer.Would rent it again.
My husband and I are interested in the tiny house movement, so when we saw this rental we thought it'd be a great chance to get a taste of the lifestyle. We stayed for 5 days with our two sons, 6 and 3, plus our 32-lb dog. It obviously wasn't a big space, but it was well laid out and I figured at the end of the day a hotel room wouldn't be that much bigger. We had the kids sleep on the pull-out sofa bed while my husband and I shared the full-size bed. The back of the couch created a natural barrier so that we still felt we had privacy to watch shows on our laptop while the kids slept.
The kitchen came stocked with all the basic necessities such as plates, pots and pans. The bathroom was stocked with plenty of towels. The bed was comfortable enough and the kids didn't mind the sofa sleeper, although I probably wouldn't have wanted to sleep on it myself.
Basic cable and wifi were provided and both worked well for our needs.
The lot had a nice grassy area with plenty of morning and afternoon shade. In the mornings we'd have the dog on a line attached to the tree and she seemed to be comfortable. There is a big picnic table that I mostly used to dry beach towels and swim clothes after a day at the beach.
The location is very nice. It's within walking distance of a few coffee shops and stores. If we didn't have young children, we could have easily walked to downtown but when I'm on vacation I don't want to deal with whiny kids any more than I have to so we drove.
It was nice to have our dog with us - it saved us the headache of finding a sitter. We were disappointed that she couldn't go on the beach with us. However, there is a nice, paved walking trail off of Hallie Whealton Smith Drive that does allow leashed dogs so we went there a couple times to get her out. The trail is very nice, lots of little wild life such as frogs, turtles, and snakes, so my boys were pleased.
Rodney was really great to work with. He answered all my questions in a timely fashion and I felt like the whole experience was extremely pleasant and relaxing. I would definitely recommend a stay here.
What a perfect little cottage for our three day stay on Chincoteague Island!!! We visit the island many times throughout the year and have always stayed in hotels. But we heard about Home Away and decided to try it...our first stay being at this little cottage... AND it was wonderful!!! Everything we needed was here... a comfortable bed..a suitable sitting room and well-equipped kitchenette with a nice dining table. Furthermore, the location was PERFECT!!! It is hidden off the main street of town but is in a quiet location...and we heard no noise from the road as it is situated behind a larger home. If you are looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay while on the island and prefer the coziness of a little cottage as opposed to a large hotel..this place will be perfect for you!! We recommend it 100%!!! Rodney was excellent to work with and he communicated with us very consistently and promptly. The key pick up and drop is only a few blocks away and made our check in and check out very simple.
Thank you Rodney!!!
