About the property

Ground Floor, 1-bedroom Unit With Ocean And Garden Views. Easy access.

Kona Isle is on the makai (ocean) side of Alii Drive 1 1/2 miles south of Kailua-Kona. The condo has a view of the ocean and swimming pool and a view of the Hualalai Mountain from the lanai. The grounds are beautifully cared for with lots of open space.

The ground floor corner (C8) condo is fully furnished with all the amenities for your enjoyment. You just need to bring personal items. A portable air conditioner as well as ceiling fans and screened doors and windows maintain a comfortable temperature with security and privacy. Easily accessible walk-in shower. This is a Non-Smoking unit as well as the property is non-smoking. Sleeping arrangements include a queen-size bed in the bedroom and a new sofa bed in the living room. An air bed is also available. Our condo association rules require a minimum 5-night stay and no more than 4 persons.

Wireless internet provided bt Spectrum is available in the unit.

Kona Isle is a taste of the real aloha of Hawaii. After a day of sightseeing and beaches, enjoy the relaxation of our barbecue area with picnic tables near the shore, or reclining on lounges under the tropical trees on the white sand beach, where you can watch the sunsets and whales in the winter. Our pool is solar heated so it is comfortable all year. There is a salt water pool adjacent to the property that is great fun when the waves are pounding in.

Kailua VIllage is about 1 1/2 miles north and Keauhou is 5 miles south, both with shopping, restaurants, music, snorkeling and grocery stores.

We hope to make your visit to Kona and the Big Island a wonderful experience.

About Joanne Broadhurst

My husband Jack and I purchased our first condo here at Kona Isle in 1990 and have spent winters here since 1998. When it became necessary to have a ground floor unit (no stairs), we bought C8. He passed away here in Kona in 2015 but I will continue to spend some time here. Kona and the Big Island grow on you and it rejuvenates the spirit to return. Lovely condo in lovely complex within walking distance of downtown.

JoAnne has a very nice condo. The view from the patio is of the ocean and the pool and well kept lawns and palm trees You have everything you need. Kona Isle which is the complex is very well run. Brian is a great manager and took care of anything we might need. The bed is comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed. She has all the toys that you might want for snorkeling and beach. The condo definitely gets 5 stars. The weather got unusually hot while we were there and she has fans in all the rooms. We come from Washington state so the heat was a bit much for us but we were OK with the fans. It cooled off nicely at night. Thank you for a lovely home to base out of.

Fabulous spot for exploring Kona and the Big Island

Dirty and too much personal touch!

We were welcome by a coackroach in the fridge. There is a coffin in the living room - too much personal touch for us!

In general it was dirty, most things are very old and well used. The bedroom has dirty carpets. Some switches don't work anymore. The sofabed in the livingroom is around 30 years old. It's just impossible - even for small children - to sleep on it. The remotes didn't work properly. Internet didn't work the first two days. The aircon from the condo above is leaking. Coffee maker doesn't get hot enough to make a bold hot cup of coffee.

The location is great. The grounds are well kept. The management of the property is very friendly and helpful. The public (!) saltwater pool was amazing. The owner is very nice and responds very quickly but doesn't want to see/accept the shortcomings.

Owner's Response: I am extremely sorry this family was so disappointed. We have been condo owners for 25 years and this was the first negative review. I have discussed the cleaning and maintenance issues with my cleaning service and it is taken care of. The coffin reference was to a memory candle holder. Because we generally rent to guests who do prefer condos in order to have cooking facilities, common condiments are provided. Guests are renting personal use condos not hotel rooms so there are personal touches. The sofa bed and recliner were replaced this winter. An electrician found no nonworking outlets. We made a financial adjustment to this renter on the threat of a bad review but got one anyway. I do take all renter comments seriously. Joanne

Great corner first floor location with ocean, sunset, lawn and pool view.

This a hard review because I can see that the owner is sweet and generally cares about her unit. The location of this unit is the best asset. The furniture appears musty and dirty and most things are outdated but overall the unit is kept up. We really enjoyed the location and nightly sunsets with a barbecue by the water and tables lawn chairs etc. My biggest complaint is the dust mites that were gathered primarily in the bedroom. I have allergies so it was a big deal for me. The bed was good enough although we couldn't handle the soiled musty pillows. There's no air conditioning, which is disclosed by the owner, but the fans provided are very very loud so no hearing those beautiful birds in the morning and the fans are not really good enough to do the job in August. The seemed old and kept falling over.?never did get the living room television to work and then discovered on remote had no batteries and the other two remotes needed new batteries. We changed them but it still didn't work. The bedroom TV worked fine. The condo is well stocked with essentials like seasonings and whatever was left by previous person. Coffee maker doesn't get hot enough to make a bold hot cup of coffee but we used it anyway.. in general most things are old and well used it seemed. We needed to iron our wedding clothes but the iron in unit was so gross and filthy it spit out brown dirt stuff when testing it on a towel. We borrowed one from a neighbor. The water filter had black mold all over it so I washed it. If the bedroom didn't have musty dirty carpets and it was cleaned from the inch thick dust behind bed stands on clothes hamper behind and under bed etc. it would be a pretty good unit. Additionally the provision of toilet paper was sparse to none for a two plus week stay. We bought toilet paper and pillows. That being said, the owner did give me the housekeepers number to arrange another cleaning but I was too busy with my daughters wedding to deal with it. I used a lot of Claritin lol. I care about cleanliness so it's my biggest issue. Loved the shower and ease of cooling down in it. Pool is wonderful, the grounds are fantastic and well kept. The management of the property is friendly and a pleasure to talk to. Nice to be away from the noise but close to things. I love the Kona Isle complex, just wish it was cleaned and less clutter but it did the job. We always choose the Kona Isle. Aloha

Alii Drive is the only through road following the ocean from Kailua Village to Keauhou 5 miles south. It connects to all other major roads. Grocery stores at both ends. Most all shopping and dining needs are contained here. Historical sites in the Village include the beautiful Hulihe'e Palace, one of 3 royal palaces in Hawaii and the Mokuaikaua Church which is the oldest Christian church in Hawaii. The Laoloa beach (known as Disappearing Sands or White Sands) is a few minutes south. The best snorkeling around is a mile further at Kahalu'u beach park. Turtles (honu) are spotted regularly. I recommend the "Hawaii Revealed" visitor guide (or known as the Blue Bible.) Whether you can get to all the sites, it is enjoyable reading. Familiar stores such as Costco, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, Safeway and Macy's are close by. Besides all the attractions nearby, the resort areas and wonderful beaches are 30 miles north on Hwy 19. . Hilo is an hour and half away on the newly improved Saddle Road. The Big Island has 7 different climate regions. Going north find Hawi and Kapa'au, Waimea, South of Kona is the Hawaii Volcano National Park. There are so many options from sand and waves, jungle, desert, ranch land, lava fields, Place of Refuge, or the volcano to chose from or the other option of just relaxing on a lounge in the sun with a good book and a dip in the pool.
