About the property

Private Slice Of The Desert and close to shopping

This lovely tucson home is a 1700 square foot serene and spacious one bedroom artist retreat. The genematas gem is located at the base of the foothills in Tucson, Arizona .Please feel free to ask for additional photos. No pets and no smoking, thank you.

the property is quiet and peaceful, located in the genematas neighborhood, a collection of distinct and well-spaced homes set amongst the desert landscape, yet right off the main artery to downtown. Nestled on over an acre of sonoran desert, this house is an ideal location for tucson living. The neighborhood is just up the hill from both trader joes and sprouts and just down the street from the luxurious la encantada outdoor mall and fine food store aj's. It is no more than a fifteen minute drive from tucson's progressively growing downtown with many of tucson's best restaurants and shopping along the way. Down the street is st phillips plaza, a classy strip mall, with excellent eatery, access to tucson's rillito river bike paths and arizona's largest farmers market on saturday and sunday mornings.

The house is decorated with mexican adobe and saltillo tile and comes completely furnished with old new mexican bookshelves, chests, and sofas. The walls are decorated with spanish folk art including beautifully colorful paintings of the owner's own experiences dancing flamenco. The front door opens to a spacious and beautifully lit high-ceiling main room with large glass sliding doors bringing in abundant glowing light all day and overlooking breathtaking mountains and desert landscape. Many species of birds, including hawks and owls, make their way into the property and on several occasions there have been sightings of javelinas, coyotes, bobcats, roadrunners, snakes, and many other diverse fauna that make the sonoran desert such a unique part of the country and the world. The main room has a gorgeous built in fireplace that, when lit on winter nights, fills the whole house with a delicious warmth and peace.

The kitchen is very large and presents an ideal place for any food cooking or preparing. It comes fully equipped with pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker, food processer, etc. Any questions about the kitchen, please contact owner. The master bedroom is very large with a queen sized bed, plenty of closet space, beautifully tiled bathroom with shower and tub, and an attached outdoor patio for sunbathing or light gardening. There is lots of space in the backyard for bonfires, grilling, and small get-togethers and there is even a trampoline for more motivated tenants.

This property would be ideal for a single artist or a calm, peaceful couple, looking for a quiet retreat that sits in a perfect location to all of tucson's attractions. The house is serene and lovely, providing steady views of the closest mountain range and its many colors as the sun moves across the sky each day. A sunset's glow against the mountain is a truly cherished experience from this modest, yet elegant home.

Master bedroom with sliding glass doors onto patio. Huge living room with massive sliding glass doors/wall that look out/open on to private slice of the desert. Morning visitors include bunnies, bobcats, elegant coyotes, mourning doves and families of quail. Mexican brick construction and saltillo tile throughout. Mixture of southwestern and moorish decor. Close to grocery stores, restaurants and easy to get to hiking trails as well as being just off main avenues that head toward the university area and downtown as well as the foothills shopping centers etc.

Hello Travelers,

This is my home, and is decorated with lovely finds from around the world. Your time spent here will be peaceful with the beautiful Sonoran desert at your feet. The neighborhood is upscale and situated just a few minutes from great shopping and hiking in both directions!

What makes this house unique

This is very unusual for a one bedroom, in that it's large and also private.

Great destination

  • 5 of 5

Oh, what a beautiful and kind place to live for February and March. Everything was clean and in order when I arrived, and no problems surfaced while i was there. I did need to correspond with the owner a couple of times and the response was timely, helpful, and friendly. Loved most living in the desert - the giant patio doors open directly onto the desert which then descends gently to the contiguous arroyo. Many types of cactus and wildlife are part of scenery. I spend many evenings on the property celebrating spectacular sunsets to the west and the fading light on the Catalina mountains to the east. Comfortable and wonderful.

Owner's Response: Shannon was such a lovely guest. He really enjoy the Sonoran desert, and it was so fun to share that with him! I love when guests see bobcats out in the back. I so respect the clean and tidy way he left the home! Thank you Shannon.

Beautiful desert escape

  • 5 of 5

This home was the perfect place for a quiet getaway. The underbrush surrounding the house was a natural habitat for the bobcats I saw and the coyotes heard at night. The furnishings, bedding and views from the living room were unmatchable. We plan to return next year.

Charming comfortable home with superb views

  • 5 of 5

We loved spending a couple of months away from winter at this lovely home. The house is well appointed, with comfortable furniture and big windows to look out on the Tucson desert. Lots of birds and wildlife! The location is the best - great walking in a really friendly neighborhood, close to hiking trails in the foothills, and also very close to good shopping and restaurants.
