La Casa de Constanza is a 3-story mountain home located on the peak of a 4500 ft. mountain overlooking the town of Constanza. A two-hour drive from Santo Domingo, Constanza is a popular weekend retreat for eco-tourists and families who want a break from the tropical heat of the cities. Famous for its small vegetable farms and quaint appeal, it has become a popular location for hang gliding, mountain biking, white water rafting, 4-wheeling and hiking. Horses and quads can also be rented in town for the adventurous. Birdwatchers will find this area a haven for exploring birds they have never seen before.
La Casa de Constanza is a large 4-bedroom wood and concrete mountain home with 4.5 bathrooms. It is a three-floor house with the top floor containing 2 bedrooms and a small loft library. The ground floor has a large combined living/dining area with an immense corner fireplace furnished with comfort and relaxation in mind. The open floor plan also includes the kitchen and large windows looking over the valley from three sides. The lower level holds a game room as well as the apartment for the caretaker and his wife.
The main attraction of La Casa de Constanza itself is its U shape terrace surrounding three sides of the house. From here you will be able to enjoy the breath taking views of the valleys close by, as well as the huge yard full of fruit trees, flowers, butterflies, hummingbirds and the occasional flock of parrots. Sunsets are particularly gratifying as the sun sets between the far mountain peaks and illuminates the small town below. One can spend hours on the terrace just looking at the cloud formations floating by and taking in the movement of nature. There is also a fire pit for night time bon fires when desired.
La Casa de Constanza has a full service kitchen area that includes stove, bbq grill, microwave, refrigerator along with cooking and eating utensils. The four bedrooms, each with its own bath, have full sized windows that open to spectacular views. Bedding and towels are all provided. The caretaker and his wife are trained to meet the needs of all of our guests. They are available to cook and do grocery runs as needed.
La Casa de Constanza was designed as a retreat center and is able to comfortably house 20 people with 4-5 people in each room while still maintaining the feel of a home away from home.
Barry and Sonia Burnett co-own the cabin with Marino and Janette Trastullo. Initially purchased as a get away for both families, we have enjoyed it so much we want to share it with others. The Trastullo family resides in the Dominican Republic and the Burnett family recently relocated to Arizona. As a multi-cultural group coming from Venezuela, Brazil, Honduras, and Italy, the Burnett/Trastullo clan would like to provide this get away for those who love to travel to the not as common sites of countries and get to know the unique culture of the island.
This house is perfect for families and groups who would like to get away for relaxation and restoration. We cherish this place as a way to get away from the intensity of life and responsibilities of work. A perfect place for bloggers and authors as well as back to nature people who love to experience the island first hand.
The cabin has a resident caregiver and wife who have taken care of the property for almost 10 years. They are available for anything that is needed while guests are using the house. Elida is an amazing cook and can provide delicious Dominican fare for minimal fee.
