We love our Seneca Lake adventures and have been vacationing at the cottage next door to the Cliff House for many years with our children and grandchildren. We are pleased to share this beautiful place with you and hope you will enjoy being our guests at Cliff House.
Elisabeth Smith, Paul DeLaney purchased this cottage in 2015
Cliff House was built in 1956 on property belonging to my grandparents. In fact, Cliff House sits on farmland that has been in my family for five generations. Seneca people first inhabited this land and built a village nearby. On a quiet night, legend claims, you can hear the drums of the Seneca across the water.
The view from the deck takes our breath away and we feel at peace; a perfect place for morning coffee, yoga or sipping wine.
I'm not sure I can fully express what a wonderful week we had. The house was clean and kitchen very well stocked. The views from the deck were even better than the pictures showed. And we had 4 consecutive sunsets that were indescribably beautiful!! There is no wifi, however our phones had mobile hotspots and the cell service was very good. The walk up the stairs from the beach was a bit of a cardio, but they are very well constructed and it was totally worthy of the effort as the beach and dock are fairly secluded. We also found that the wineries and breweries were an added bonus and so conveniently located. In the past we have spent our summers at the shore, this vacation has opened our eyes to a wonderful alternative. When you open booking for the 2017 season please drop us a line, if possible, as we are VERY interested in returning next summer!!

This home is in a secluded location down a one lane dirt road. The view of the lake from the deck is awesome. Because it was cool and rainy during our visit, we never made it down the steps to their boat house. The home itself was fairly nice although not as clean as we would have liked. Also, we killed several spiders and two centipedes In the house.
The kitchen was adequately furnished. There was a nice table for dining and a cozy living room. There was one bathroom off the hallway and another off the first bedroom. There were two more bedrooms, one of which was small and had no closet. One of the bathroom sinks was barely draining while we were there.
We personally would not stay here again for the following reasons. The beds, pillows, and linens were in desperate need of being replaced. Despite paying a sizable cleaning fee, you are required to carry your own trash out and try to cram it into overflowing cans. You are required to wash your sheets and towels before you leave. Laundry detergent was provided, but this was a two hour endeavor with their front loading washer and because the breaker tripped several times when using the dryer - a real headache when you're trying to leave by 7 a.m. You also need to allow time to hand wash your dishes before you leave as there is no dishwasher.
The owners were responsive to my questions before my stay. Their home has the potential to be a great place to stay if the furnishings were updated and they removed the requirement of washing the linens. It seems for the cost of the cleaning fee, whoever is cleaning could do the wash while they work. Also, this is the first vacation home we have stayed in where wifi was not provided, but we had adequate cellular service.
Great house nestled at the end of a private lane with beautiful views of Seneca lake. The house was clean and well equipped. The owners were friendly, responsive, and accommodating. Convenient location for numerous wineries.
Property is well maintained and equipped with amenities for a country home...
The cottage was very comfortable and well kept. Great views of the lake from the deck. Also beach area was very nice. Also close to Watkins Glen and wineries.
The house was perfect for us and we used the lake and dock pretty much every day. The house was very clean upon arrival and was well-maintained. The steps down to beach from the cliff did not present a problem for us or our three children. The house had everything necessary to make for a great vacation. It does not have wifi but cell reception was fine and met our needs while on vacation. Great location made for easy access to hiking and other points of interest. The owners were very nice and quite helpful for our first finger lakes experience. We highly recommend this one
Located on the seneca wine trail, cheese trail and a five minute drive to several breweries, this quiet cliff house is the perfect base camp to explore the finger lakes. Nestled in the woods, below the vineyards overlooking seneca lake, this one story cottage offers you a private lakeside beach, and dock for enjoying water sports, fishing or an evening campfire. You have access to an electric boat lift that holds up to a 21'boat, two kayaks and a canoe; with life jackets for your safety. A newly built staircase leads to the beach.. Explore the waterfalls, or walk through the vineyards to the winery to enjoy the grape harvest. Visit nearby cornell university (24 miles) in ithaca or watkins glen state park (12 miles) to hike the gorge, go to the race track or book a tour of the lake by sail or motorboat. Visit seneca falls, home of the women's rights museum (29 miles) and stop along the way at an amish produce stand or gift shop. Most importantly, dine on our deck overlooking the lake and experience a brilliant sun set.
