About Elisabeth Smith, Paul DeLaney

We love our Seneca Lake adventures and have been vacationing at the cottage next door to the Cliff House for many years with our children and grandchildren. We are pleased to share this beautiful place with you and hope you will enjoy being our guests at Cliff House.

Elisabeth Smith, Paul DeLaney purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Elisabeth Smith, Paul DeLaney chose Seneca Lake

Cliff House was built in 1956 on property belonging to my grandparents. In fact, Cliff House sits on farmland that has been in my family for five generations. Seneca people first inhabited this land and built a village nearby. On a quiet night, legend claims, you can hear the drums of the Seneca across the water.

What makes this cottage unique

The view from the deck takes our breath away and we feel at peace; a perfect place for morning coffee, yoga or sipping wine.

Great location, views and accomodations!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our mid-week stay at the Cliff House. It is perfectly located in the middle of the east side of Seneca Lake wineries and breweries. Also located near some of the better waterfall and gorge hiking trails. The Cliff House had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The lake views and sunsets were very nice. We enjoyed the kayaks provided also. Very quiet while we were there. We would definitely rebook if we come back to the Finger Lakes area.

Really, Elisabeth and Paul offered a superb house and amenities that we didn't think they would have there, but did, for our enjoyment. Great views, all amenities that you need and a house in excellent shape ( plus an outdoor shower !! ). I have nothing bad to say, seriously ; if you want an awesome experience on Seneca Lake , book now or it will be too late!!!

Our first Seneca lake vacation - can't believe we waited this long!

  • 5 of 5

So I grew up just a little under an hour from here, and spent a LOT Of time at Seneca Lake over the years... but never, until this week spent a whole week at the lake, just hanging out, kayaking, relaxing, skipping rocks, enjoying spectacular sunsets, campfires, and best of all... not having to go home at the end of the day. I'm so glad CLIFF HOUSE was the place my family got to experience our first ALL SENECA LAKE ALL THE TIME vacation! It was, first of all, lovely, and quite comfortable. The house was well appointed with lots of extras that other rentals don't always provide (eg paper products and lots of kitchenware/utensils - which was great!) and of course, the kayaks and canoe. That was specifically on my list in searching for a place - and it was one of the highlights of our week, spending time every day paddling around the lake.

Betsy and Paul were gracious, friendly and accommodating. They happened to be around the week we were there, and were available for whatever we might have needed (which really was not much!), but also sensitive to respect privacy - in fact, the whole location was wonderfully private. The sunsets were consistently spectacular, and even though there is so much to explore in the area (wineries, gorges in Ithaca and Watkins, etc.) we honestly could have just stayed put all week and have been just as happy.

There is a pretty serious staircase going down to the lake, so maybe not suitable for the very young (definitely not unsupervised!) or those with mobility challenges, but if you are able, it is totally worth the bit of exercise!

We would most definitely want to come back here again for future lake vacations - thanks so much for everything :^)

The best of the best!

  • 5 of 5

I have rented many houses through VRBO/Home Away/Air BnB. This rental was by far the best experience I have had. When they say they provide a stocked house, they mean that and then some. The amenities and items included were so amazing and thoughtful. You could tell the owners go to great detail to make sure you feel comfortable and have a great time, including reaching out to make sure as well. From the outdoor items provided to the stocked kitchen, to the thoughtful note left when we arrived, to the basic items that usually need to be packed, nothing was overlooked. The house is exactly how it is described and pictured. My friends and I were in area for a wedding and wanted to take an extended relaxing weekend, and that is exactly what we had. The location was perfect, the house was very clean, the views were breathtaking. We just loved our stay so much! Thank you Paul and Betsy for everything!! We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to renting from you again.
