Description

Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday home in Midtown - Historic Harrison House, 1875

Walk to all downtown Savannah has to offer by staying in this historic home gem!

Harrison House is a fully renovated, historic home full of new appointments. You'll be staying in one of the oldest homes on the east side of Savannah! Originally built for Mr. William T. Harrison in 1875, our home was lovingly restored by George, an award-winning historic preservationist.

Harrison House has 4 bedrooms (one is a converted trunk room) all with high-end, quality mattresses. No inconvenience of a pull-out sofa, cot / air mattress like many other listings. The home has a fully equipped kitchen. Also a full-size washer/dryer is conveniently located upstairs on the same floor with the bedrooms.

The Victorian District was named among the Top Ten Neighborhoods in the US by the American Planning Association. Our neighborhood is also within the up-and-coming SOFO district (South of Forsyth Park) thanks to the growing number of trendy bars, restaurants and shops locating to this transitional neighborhood. Some not used to Savannah's demographics may be out of their element, but we think the demographics of Savannah make it what it is: diversity, great food and wonderful cultural festivals...

Big and beautiful Forsyth Park, only a couple blocks away, features Savannah's best Farmer's Market every Saturday morning, as well as regular festivals, sports, and musical performances. This 30 acre park is the biggest in Savannah's historic district.

Brighter Day, our time-honored neighborhood natural food store & Kroger, a full service grocery store, as well as the eternally-happening Sentient Bean coffee shop and La Chai wine bar are within easy walking distance, as is all that downtown Savannah offers! Stay on our meter-free street and enjoy the flavor of our historic, up and coming neighborhood, while taking strolls in romantic Forsyth Park. Within just a few minutes' walk- you're on the free shuttle that takes you throughout downtown. And don't leave town without experiencing the fun of taking a PediCab out to dinner.

We really enjoyed our stay. The property was clean and comfortable for 5 guys and all our gear. The host was very helpful anytime we needed anything. If we come back to Savannah next year we will stay again.

Perfect for the perfect group of gals

We so enjoyed your home. Myself and 4 classmates from southern California chose Savannah as one of our destination spots. We have visited many cities during the past 16+ years and Savannah was a treat. Your home accommodated us so will since there are 5 of us. Beds were so comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed. The location was good, loved sitting on the upper veranda in the evening, visiting and having cocktails. Thank you so much! Perfect!

Best VRBO experience yet!!

  • 5 of 5

We came into Savannah for Labor Day weekend and the Savannah Century Cycling event. Location was perfect for both cycling and walking the city. Great first impressions of the home, we were greeted with a very organized rental home, and a nice welcome basket of snacks and homemade cookies with thank you card. The home even had extras available we didn't expect, but were thankful for. You know you always have that one travel partner that forgets their toothbrush...haha! Our first day we were greeted by a tropical storm so we spent most of the day inside, but we were perfectly content with hanging out in the home. George even checked in with us to make sure we were ok during the storm. We particularly enjoyed looking through a picture book that was available showing the restoration of the property, and a well put together visitor guide also. The back courtyard was inviting, as well as the balcony. Great places for socializing with friends and relaxing! Just an all around great spacious place that has been our best VRBO experience thus far!! Many thanks to our great hosts!!

Great gate to Old Savannah

  • 5 of 5

Clean, sunny, nicely decorated. Ready for family fun. Owner prepared printouts of best food locations, places to see. What you see in the property ad is in the house. Safe neighborhood. Definitely would recommend it to friends. We used it to safe on hotels while attending conference in Savannah, my lab loved the place.

This house is immaculate and was perfect for our family of 6. Great location, very clean, kitchen was nicely stocked. Tons of towels and sheets, and comfortable beds. We also enjoyed the balcony and the back yard. Highly recommend this place.

Owner's Response: We are pleased that our house and location worked so well for you and your family. We use the same high quality mattresses, pillows and linens in Harrison House as our own home. We hope the extra expense on these items makes for a more pleasant vacation for all...

Transportation options are many, but walking is a definite favorite as it provides the opportunity to soak up the beauty of Savannah, which features the nation's largest Historic Landmark District...all within easy walking distance.

Other options:

Free Shuttle: The "DOT" Stop is just blocks north of our home on Hall St between Abercorn & Drayton. Shuttle runs every 20 minutes; Connects to Visitor Ctr, Streetcar, Ferry and more.

Schedule: Monday to Saturday 7am to 9pm; Sunday 11am to 9pm

City-Wide Bus: Stop is only a couple blocks away on Abercorn street and the "CAT" will take you through the greater Savannah area. Search catchacat for more info

Pedicab: our favorite is the original Savannah Pedicab founded in 1994. Just call 912-232-7900 any day and their hip drivers will cycle you through downtown Savannah. Less than 1/2 hour: pay what you deam fair.

Uber & Taxis readily available; reasonable rates throughout downtown.
