About the property

Historic Miner's Cottage for Short and Long Term Stays in Lovely Patagonia

Casitas! Frontera has two separate overnight guest cottages in the heart of historic Patagonia, adjacent to a vintage territorial adobe home in an uncommonly beautiful garden setting.

Alma’s cottage is a historic miners’ cottage with kitchen, sitting room, and two bedrooms- one with a queen bed and one with a twin- intended for up to 3 people to share. The bathroom has a tub with shower, and also includes a washer and dryer for those who pack lightly or intend to stay for a while! The charming kitchen is fully equipped for the evenings when you desire a home cooked meal, including cookware and beautiful pottery dishes. Enjoy the view of our gorgeous gardens from the large windows in the sitting room; wi-fi, television, books, and games are also provided for you to enjoy on your evenings in. Snuggle down in your chosen bed that has been made with luxuriously soft linens. Ample storage is provided for your personal items. The cottage is decorated with art and authentic mexican details which enhance the atmosphere.

The cottage has two entrances, one to a garden/courtyard & the other to Naugle Avenue. There is parking on the street for your convenience.

Our enclosed courtyard is lush with beautiful trees and flowering plants. The back patio is ideal for lingering over an alfresco dinner next to our copper fire pit or clay chiminea. Year-round feeders keep our gardens busy with a rich assortment of local and migratory bird life. Guests are encouraged to make themselves at home and enjoy this tranquil setting.

"Cuter than a Button"

Alma's Cottage was fantastic! Extremely functional & comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking - which we did every night. They also provide coffee, coffee filters, creamers/sugar, condiments, etc. Living room, bedroom, spare room with day bed are all

colorfully decorated with folk art, baskets, etc. Bed, bedding were all first class. Having a full size washer & dryer was awesome. Dryer sheets were provided. Outdoor areas in front and back were delightful - decorated with yard art, bird feeders, etc. We would not hesitate to book this property again!!

A great accommodation and location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a month and enjoyed every minute. We were in walking distance to 3 restaurants, a very nice coffee shop, an opera house featuring great music, a library, bakery, and museum. Wonderful hiking trails are within 20 miles. Many thanks to Kathleen, Gary, Rachel, Mary, and Marta.

Great experience--A real find!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time celebrating our anniversary at Alma's Cottage in Patagonia. Rachel the property manager, was very helpful before we arrived, and the owners, Kathleen and Gary were very friendly and helpful as well. You can tell they have a lot of pride in ownership and care about their guests. The cottage is right in the middle of Patagonia, within walking distance of everything. It is a very nice size, is well furnished and maintained and really unique. There is nothing you need to bring other than yourselves as it has a full kitchen. The courtyards in front and back are very peaceful with fountains as well.

There are several nice places to eat in Patagonia, and even more in Sonoita , which is a short 10-15 minute drive . We highly recommend Gathering Grounds, across the street from the cottage , for breakfast and lunch. It's family run and very friendly with good food and coffee.Same with Velvet Elvis and also The Café in Sonoita. We stopped in for tastings at the Callaghan and Flying Leap wineries, both of which had very friendly owners and excellent wine.In addition, the Patagonia Lake State Park is a short drive and worth going to.

All in all, it was a great weekend and we highly recommend staying at the cottage.

Absoutely perfect. Cannot say enough

This was a two day extension to our stay. It is a wonderful place. The way it is decorated I feel like I am in an issue of Sunset Magazine with the decorations- only much better. A quiet place in a small town near wine country. The owners were very welcoming as was the manager. They have coffee, cream, shampoo, body wash for men and unisex, laundry detergent and dryer sheets, condiments, full kitchen and all the needed pots, pans and dishes, etc. A wonderful surprise and so glad we extended our 3 night stay to 5. We will be back.

Absolutely Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

From the second that the reservation was requested to the end of my all-too-brief stay in Patagonia, Rachel was helpful and more than accommodating. Two friends joined me the first night in a beautiful home filled with lovely treasures and when we vacated, my dad and his wife enjoyed the cozy home and the Fall Fest right just across the street. Lovingly collected and displayed items enhance the cozy home and, if you're lucky enough to meet the owners, the tour of the real estate office is a real treat! Everything you need is there for you~ highly recommend this vacation rental! But do stay longer- there's so much to see and do!
