ALMA'S COTTAGE WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR NEW BOOKINGS AFTER MARCH 1, 2017.
We had a great time celebrating our anniversary at Alma's Cottage in Patagonia. Rachel the property manager, was very helpful before we arrived, and the owners, Kathleen and Gary were very friendly and helpful as well. You can tell they have a lot of pride in ownership and care about their guests. The cottage is right in the middle of Patagonia, within walking distance of everything. It is a very nice size, is well furnished and maintained and really unique. There is nothing you need to bring other than yourselves as it has a full kitchen. The courtyards in front and back are very peaceful with fountains as well.
There are several nice places to eat in Patagonia, and even more in Sonoita , which is a short 10-15 minute drive . We highly recommend Gathering Grounds, across the street from the cottage , for breakfast and lunch. It's family run and very friendly with good food and coffee.Same with Velvet Elvis and also The Café in Sonoita. We stopped in for tastings at the Callaghan and Flying Leap wineries, both of which had very friendly owners and excellent wine.In addition, the Patagonia Lake State Park is a short drive and worth going to.
All in all, it was a great weekend and we highly recommend staying at the cottage.
This was a two day extension to our stay. It is a wonderful place. The way it is decorated I feel like I am in an issue of Sunset Magazine with the decorations- only much better. A quiet place in a small town near wine country. The owners were very welcoming as was the manager. They have coffee, cream, shampoo, body wash for men and unisex, laundry detergent and dryer sheets, condiments, full kitchen and all the needed pots, pans and dishes, etc. A wonderful surprise and so glad we extended our 3 night stay to 5. We will be back.
From the second that the reservation was requested to the end of my all-too-brief stay in Patagonia, Rachel was helpful and more than accommodating. Two friends joined me the first night in a beautiful home filled with lovely treasures and when we vacated, my dad and his wife enjoyed the cozy home and the Fall Fest right just across the street. Lovingly collected and displayed items enhance the cozy home and, if you're lucky enough to meet the owners, the tour of the real estate office is a real treat! Everything you need is there for you~ highly recommend this vacation rental! But do stay longer- there's so much to see and do!
Near a park and community garden. Shaded nicely in the patio. Kitchen is well appointed. Lovely hosts, we will be back!
My husband and I stayed for 2 nights. We were in Patagonia for a wedding. Alma's cottage had more than enough space for us. There was something eye catching everywhere without it feeling overdone. It was the most vibrant mixture of SW folkart. The kitchen had everything needed. They even included a big jug of water. There were several helpful maps and books of the area. The surrounding outdoor grounds were lovely, too.
We enjoyed everything about Alma's. The kitchen was well appointed and refrigerator stocked w/handy condiments. Plenty of thick towels and extra blankets (for cooler nights). Decor is attractive w/plenty of room to spread our stuff around. Landscape courtyard surrounding cottage was particularly pleasant any time of the day. We stayed for a week in early March finding plenty to do everyday. Hikes & birdwatching in close by Preserves, Natural Areas and State Parks took up most mornings. The local museum, visitor center and public library were treasure houses of information and local contacts. Hosts were immediately available and responsive as needed but not intrusive. Although the cottage is located on main street, it always felt private and noise was never an issue. Very convenient location as we could walk every where in town. It would be lovely to be able to return.
