Amazing View!

  • 4 of 5

The location -- the view! That is why you stay here. It was a little adventure finding the cabin -- not that it was hard -- the directions provided led us right to the property, but the road twisting through the coastal forest almost seeming in the middle of nowhere, heightened the sense of anticipation. When we arrived, my wife just wanted to sit in the rocking chair on the deck and watch the sun finish setting -- such a beautiful view. We did not get tired of the ocean view during our stay.

The cabin itself is very simple and rustic -- but that's fine -- it is not billed as anything fancy. There is not TV, but we did not miss it. The wifi worked fine, important for checking e-mail and planning the day's itinerary. One negative here though -- we had to charge our laptops in the bathroom as that is the only 3-prong outlet we could locate.

Outside, besides the views being great, there were a number of colorful flowers on the ground (my wife could tell you what they are, to me -- blue, purple, red, orange ...) attracting a couple of hummingbirds. While it was pretty, they landscaping did seem in need of some grooming.

The location worked out great as a place to launch out for the day's adventures to the redwoods, picturesque beaches, Klamath River, etc. If in the area again, we would happily stay here again.

Beautiful and secluded

This is the perfect getaway. We spent the entire afternoon and evening sitting on the balcony and enjoying the beautiful view. We loved the rustic interior.

Charming with stunning views of the Ocean!

  • 4 of 5

You are really sitting on top of the ocean bluff at this place! We were only here for a night but found ourselves wanting to spend time reading and relaxing on the deck. The ocean is stunning. The inside of the cabin is well-maintained. I really liked the look of the old wooden floor. The place was decorated in a comfortable style that made you want to hibernate inside of it for a week. We did not use any of the cooking area but it looked like it was amply supplied. The location is near many outdoor activity spots. We would use this place again as a launching spot to the area.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed over the holiday weekend for some quiet time away and to go hiking in the Redwood State Park. The cabin is situated on the owners property with another cabin next door. The property is beautiful with flowers everywhere-foxglove, lilies, fuchsia, hydrangea and rhododendrons. Great ocean view from back deck. The cabin itself is very "rustic"-old furniture and fixtures. Towels, sheets and dish clothes were clean but worn. Could use new bedding and towels to freshen things up a bit. Overall a wonderful stay, great location.

Needs some tender loving care

  • 2 of 5

We arrived late in the evening around 9pm. The cabin is very rustic and definitely needs some updating... even magazines were out of date. We were greeted by a very large spider which added to the ambience. Unfortunately we decided not to stay and left first thing in the morning. This was partly because we had a long drive ahead of us heading to Sedona Az and partly because my mood alergy was on high alert and I was feeling horrible. Cabin is VERY clean and would be perfect for anyone looking to "get away from civilization" and rough it. Spectacular view as well. Just not for us... we should have researched a little more.

Owner's Response: Yes, it is rustic and very country - it was the station house for the original stage coach stop and so it's dated. We wanted it to keep some of the old charm. But it is clean and comfortable. We did not want it like a motel room. It is set up to be such a place I and my wife would be absolutely delighted to find. The magazines mostly are scientific and literary rather than news, so the dates are relatively immaterial.

A delightful setting...magical!

  • 5 of 5

The grounds are lush with flowering shrubs and trees. The weeds are even beautiful! Our one-room cabin is right at the edge of the bluff giving us a spectacular view of the ocean. Two wooden rocking chairs on the deck are perfect for enjoying a glass of wine and watching the sunset. Our cabin has redwood walls and ceiling, rather old style. Looks like something from the 20's or 30's. So comfortably furnished, the bed is quite cozy, kitchen is complete, and bathroom is surprisingly spacious. There is a wood-burner to warm the cabin although the bathroom and living room have wall heaters that do a super job. Dual paned windows help keep it cozy. There is a small walk-in closet. So charming. Don't want to leave!!!
