About the property

Unique Casita Rental for Short or Long Stays in the Heart of Beautiful Patagonia

Casitas! Frontera has two separate overnight guest cottages in the heart of historic patagonia, adjacent to a vintage territorial adobe home in an uncommonly beautiful garden setting.

Casita Frontera is a beautiful two story home with a sitting area, kitchen/dining area, and wrought iron spiral staircase leading up to the partially enclosed loft with ample storage. There are two queen- and one twin-sized bed, allowing up to five people to share the home in comfort. Each iron bed frame was made in Mexico, and are cozily made up with luxuriously soft linens. The single bathroom has a very large, walk in Mexican tile shower. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, and microwave, as well as dishes and cookware. The Casita is decorated with authentic textiles, regional furniture, and folk art. There is a wonderful iron stove for warmth, and quiet, comfortable air conditioning for the occasional hot days. Also provided is wi-fi, satellite television, games, a small library, and laundry facilities.

The Casita has two entrances, one to a garden/courtyard & the other to Mendoza Alley. There is parking in the alley for your convenience.

Our enclosed courtyard is lush with beautiful trees and flowering plants. The back patio is ideal for lingering over an alfresco dinner next to our copper fire pit or clay chiminea. Year-round feeders keep our gardens busy with a rich assortment of local and migratory bird life. Guests are encouraged to make themselves at home and enjoy this tranquil setting.

Very pleasant and relaxing casita

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful accommodations that suited the area and enhanced our one-month stay in laid back Patagonia. It was colorfully done with various wall art and a pretty much fully stocked kitchen for cooking and eating "in". The upstairs bedroom offered more light and open window opportunities than the lower level which we appreciated for contrast. It had 3 beds which allowed us to have a guest for our last week there. We would have appreciated a little more lamplight as their lights are rather dim in most of the downstairs and it would have been nice to have a dvd player since we were there so long, but other than that all was wonderful. It was great to have a housekeeper come in weekly to change sheets and towels and clean. And also great to have access to a washer and dryer outside of the casita. Everyone was very nice and accommodating to our needs and requests. The owners Kathleen and Gary are wonderful people and their administrator, Rachel took good care of us. Would stay again.

One of a kind

  • 5 of 5

We spent a fine 2 weeks in Patagonia. The casita is easily the most interesting vacation site we have ever stayed in - there is always an object, wall hanging, photograph or painting to admire. The surrounding gardens are equally well furnished. Patagonia is a real town, not just a vacation site. We were able to hike and explore for 2 weeks with never more than a 45 minute drive. Thanks, Rachel - we'll be back.

Like Staying in a Cozy Art Gallery

  • 5 of 5

The only thing negative about our stay here, is that we had to leave.

The casita is beautiful, cozy and we couldn't have asked for a better retreat. Gary and Kathleen were very gracious hosts and have created a wonderful oasis that exudes tranquility. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our Thanksgiving here and look forward to returning with my husband when he returns from deployment.

Such a cute, clean casita!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second rental on our 4 nite trip to Patagonia. Both places were awesome, but this has a few advantages. One, it's right across the street from the fall festival, and two, u do not hear dogs barking randomly and non stop. This is a very quiet, beautifully decorated home. We will be back.

The Casita Was Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We were in Southern Arizona exploring several different areas (Patagonia, Madera Canyon and Sierra Vista -- both within two hours drive) and we used this cute little Casita as a hub. The place is perfect for two people (and a couple of kids if you have them, we don't) and nice and cool (AC) when you've come back after a long day in scorching heat.

The decor is super charming and thoughtfully done. The bed and pillows were cozy. And the kitchen came equipped with almost everything you'd need to be self-contained (including good knives and a wine opener), which was our goal this trip. The one thing missing for pasta lovers is a big pot for boiling, but I bet if you'd ask, they'd bring one.

I loved the nuanced touches, like lotion and body wash in the bathroom. There was also a hair dryer and a straightening iron.

In town, we found the Mountain Grocery to be our favorite. It carried more natural-food type goods & vegetarian fare (which is what we were after) that you might find at a Whole Foods or similar market.

If you are coming during monsoon season for Paton/Audubon House or the Preserve, be sure to check weather reports, because there is a creek that gets flooded and becomes uncrossable, and crossing it is the only way in and out. That said, it does dry/slow pretty quickly (it wasn't crossable day one for us, but it was by the second morning -- mind you, we also have a 2WD sedan, a high-sitting 4WD would have been fine day one).

Overall, we'd love to come back!
