Casitas! Frontera has two separate overnight guest cottages in the heart of historic patagonia, adjacent to a vintage territorial adobe home in an uncommonly beautiful garden setting.
Casita Frontera is a beautiful two story home with a sitting area, kitchen/dining area, and wrought iron spiral staircase leading up to the partially enclosed loft with ample storage. There are two queen- and one twin-sized bed, allowing up to five people to share the home in comfort. Each iron bed frame was made in Mexico, and are cozily made up with luxuriously soft linens. The single bathroom has a very large, walk in Mexican tile shower. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, and microwave, as well as dishes and cookware. The Casita is decorated with authentic textiles, regional furniture, and folk art. There is a wonderful iron stove for warmth, and quiet, comfortable air conditioning for the occasional hot days. Also provided is wi-fi, satellite television, games, a small library, and laundry facilities.
The Casita has two entrances, one to a garden/courtyard & the other to Mendoza Alley. There is parking in the alley for your convenience.
Our enclosed courtyard is lush with beautiful trees and flowering plants. The back patio is ideal for lingering over an alfresco dinner next to our copper fire pit or clay chiminea. Year-round feeders keep our gardens busy with a rich assortment of local and migratory bird life. Guests are encouraged to make themselves at home and enjoy this tranquil setting.
We loved our stay in this beautiful casita. The owners have thought of every detail. The kitchen was well stocked with every utensil that might be needed. If we wanted to stay in, the abundance of folk art helps to create a warm and comfortable place to rest and relax inside.Or, the garden surrounding the private patio was another good place to perch. If we wanted to sight see we found that the casita was perfectly located for venturing out and exploring. The geography, history and wild life that surrounds Patagonia was fascinating and the owners were great about making suggestions and giving directions. In fact, everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. We would love to come back and stay again!
We spent 2 lovely weeks at the casita. It has a wonderful patio to sit in and a very loving cat to come and be petted. The house was very comfortable, however, the only complaint is the area over the table was dark if you ate later in the evening. We love the area of Patagonia and find the village quite charming. The addition of the opera house next door was a surprise this year and very much enjoyed. Would recommend this to any one, especially bird lovers as the hummers are very busy at the many feeders in the patio. Enjoyed talking to Kathleen and Gary when they passed thru with their faithful dog. All in all it was a great place to stay.
Every amenity provided. Inspiring art everywhere. Charming hosts and staff.
Everything was as described, but better! Service was excellent, friendly and kind. A perfect getaway from the big city to the quiet small town artsy friendly vibe. Remember what stars look like? Velvety dark sky with endless stars, a cozy comfortable place to be, cook, relax, read, listen to the birds, enjoy the gorgeous scenery of the open spacious Sonoita valley. You can tell this place is tended to with every detail by owners who know how to live and enjoy art and life with fun, and intellectual sophisticated tastes and appreciation of the area and the work of the hand made.
The wifi connection is good to a bit sketchy at times but what can you expect in such a small town in the mountains; just be aware of this if you have to be fully connected.
The local bakery's croissants are in fact delicious like Paris. Velvet Elvis serves great white sauce pizza and fabulous Hibiscus & Fresh Lime margaritas.
We brought some groceries with us because we like to cook and the kitchen was stocked perfectly with sharp knives and everything one could need. There's a well stocked, modern local market Red Mountain you can get fresh fruit and veggies in case you didn't bring enough tomatoes like we did, or choose to buy groceries there.
Visited with lovely Adrian at the fabulous Global Art Gallery in town to get reacquainted with Patagonia again after 18 years since our last visit. Thank goodness times have changed and we were able to rent this exquisite place online. We'll definitely rent here again if they'll have us!
