About the property

This Is A 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath Cabin Ideal For 2 Couples Or A Family

The Cabin is roomy with an open living/dining/kitchen area where guests can share the experience but still have space for private reading or thinking. The master bedroom has a king size bed and a slider out to the back shaded patio. The second bedroom has a full size and single size bed. Both bedrooms have walk-in closets where folks can unpack and spread out like at home. In the fenced, shaded back yard is a small gurgling stream that runs all year. The home has a garage and a large parking area for 2 cars, boat or RV. The train track which runs through the middle of Mount Shasta is nearby so anyone who is sensitive to noise should bring ear plugs. A variety of restaurants are within walking distance.

About Pat and Jim

We are a retired couple who have come to the Mount Shasta area for many years to enjoy all the outdoor activities it has to offer. With more time to do these things, we thought it would be a good idea to have a second home as a getaway, to be closer to hikes and skiing, and to enjoy the delightful atmosphere of the town.

Pat and Jim purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Pat and Jim chose Mount Shasta

We first bought a little cottage in Mount Shasta five years ago and found that having a retreat an hour away from our primary residence was wonderful. We also liked sharing it with others who appreciated being able to be in a home away from home when on vacation. When this property came on the market we were ready to make a move to a house that was a bit bigger, closer to town, and offered more privacy. It met all our requirements and we would again like to share our find with others.

What makes this cabin unique

In traveling to explore other areas, we have found it difficult at times to take our four footer family members with us. We are definitely pet friendly and welcome well behaved dogs to our Cabin. The back yard is fenced but small dogs will require some supervision so they don't squeeze through the fence and get into the stream and its pool. We just ask that owners control barking and pick up the waste from the yard with provided bags.

Great location and spotless

Cute little house, so clean, and walkable to Berryvale market and town center. Wear earplugs 1st night for trains passing and then not necessary for 4 of us adults..THere is a blow up bed in closet and sofa bed in living room. The beds are comfy and comforters warm......a very snugly space...SA

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. We are glad you enjoyed the house and being in such a beautiful area. Just to clarity for other folks, the maximum number of guests at The Cedars is 5-6, which means there is a bed for everyone. There is also a Pack and Play for a very small person. The house is comfortable for that number but there is not room to use the pull out sofa. The blow up mattress was only there in the summer for older children to have a "camp out" on the back porch.

Even better than described. Pat and Jim are wonderful to work with.

The cabin is lovely, cozy and clean. Pat and Jim have created a welcoming place to relax, with everything you may need during your stay. The flowing water from the creek is enchanting. I had a very positive experience, and would stay there again when visiting Mt Shasta.

The Cedars, Mount Shasta City

  • 5 of 5

I come to Mount Shasta City to do field work at the mountain (I'm a geologist). The house really works well for my field assistant and me (each of us have some private space, own bathroom, etc. as well as good public space to break down samples, work on maps, etc.) and the garage is a plus to be able to lock equipment up overnight. I especially like that it's close to town and easy to walk to most of Shasta's restaurants as well as close to grocery stores. The hosts are wonderful to deal with when making plans and receptive to questions and needs.

Owner's Response: These two folks have come to us three years in a row and have always left the house as they found it, despite probably having to move things around to do their work. They come for a longer time period than most but are very considerate in using a limited number of linens, bedding etc that help us conserve energy and water. Communication is excellent and timely. They are very welcome returning guests.

Perfect property for our stay.

We wanted for nothing. The house was clean and it had everything we needed. Kitchen was large and I was able to make breakfast everyday. Stores and shopping were close by. Parking wasn't a problem. Beautiful house will definitely rent in the future!!

Owner's Response: These folks were ideal guests, leaving the house in great shape and going above and beyond to help us get ready for the next people coming in after they left. They kindly started to wash and dry towels which is never expected but a great help in the busy summer season. There was excellent communication between us about some changes at the house. They are most welcome back anytime.

Perfect For Our Needs

  • 5 of 5

If you are planning to stay in Mount Shasta, I would recommend The Cedars. The house is conveniently located close to stores and restaurants. We were even able to walk to the weekly Farmers' Market in town. The Cedars has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and an open concept living room/dining room/kitchen. My family had no trouble sleeping because the beds were so comfortable. The entire house was cute and comfortable. When you walk through the sliding door leading to the backyard, you see a small waterfall and stream with the wonderful sound of trickling water. We had our three small dogs with us, and it was perfect for them. Besides beautiful trees and shrubs, the yard includes a table and chairs as well as a barbecue. There are train tracks closeby, but honestly, we were not bothered by the sound of the train, which we heard once or twice each day. We will definitely plan to stay here again. Jim and Pat, the owners are wonderful people and are very accommodating.
