Our recently renovated 19th century farmhouse along the historic old national road is several doors down from the best B&B in the region- Hartzell House. We offer an affordable alternative, with a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy dining room with an antique trestle table, a large relaxed living room with a large flat screen tv and separate reading area, a front porch with rockers and a back patio with a table and chairs. Out back is wonderful acre of grassy lawn- perfect for lawn games, toasting marshmallows and star gazing. Upstairs, we have three well appointed bedrooms. The master bedroom is especially nice, privately located with windows on three sides, new maple floors, a walk-in closet, and a large screen flat panel TV. The bed is comfortable- a firm king with a memory foam topper. The second bedroom has a firm queen bed, also with a memory foam topper, and the third bedroom a pair of bunk beds. We have basic cable, high speed internet, and an assortment of indoor and outdoor games. Addison is central to everything the Laurel Highlands has to offer. We decided to spend a weekend near Ohiopyle at the last minute. Luckily, this property was available, and also reasonably priced. The house was clean and though it was hot outside, it remained cool enough inside that we didn't use the air conditioners most of the time. It's located in a historic district with 3 museums, all of which were closed. Interestingly, when we asked a neighbor about a one-room schoolhouse we read about online, he wasn't aware of it - but he called around and found out where it was (and went to see it himself, apparently for the first time). The only issue we encountered was the steps between the bath and bedrooms, and the living room and eating areas - it took awhile to get used to them.
The property was as described and met all expectations. It was clean and had everything we needed. The bed in the master, which was the only one we used, was very comfy. The big, flat-screen TVs in the living room and master were great, as was the Wi-Fi. The owner provided fast, great service and communication, couldn't be better. If you keep in mind that the property is a farmhouse built in the 1800's, which has been renovated, and that some of the decor is specific to the owners' tastes, then you'll be a-ok. We'll likely be back!
Nice home in a small town in Pennsylvania, close to nature and historical places to explore by car. Wifi which was easy to connect to, a full kitchen, roomy living room and dining room for our family of five and we could have had a couple more easily. The owners are great communicators and worked with us in our last minute plans! They corresponded by email, text messages and even called us when we had questions. We didn't think we had enough towels so we emailed the owners, who don't live in the area, and within a couple of hours, more were delivered! The home is old so a bit creaky but the beds were very comfortable. They even welcomed our great dane which was awesome and saved us boarding money. There are stairs and a very extra steps on the lower floor that might make it challenging for toddlers or those with disabilities. All the bedrooms are upstairs and one room has bunk beds. There are two other bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a king bed. The locals quick store closes early and has limited supplies so stop before you come in town. Ask the owners, they'll recommend where to go!
