About Owner/Manager

Married couple that just became 'empty nesters'. We are both educators and also tropical fruit farmers.

Owner/Manager purchased this house in 2015

Why Owner/Manager chose Miami-Dade County

Very secluded and private in the heart of the very desirable 'Redland' area of southwest Miami-Dade County, just minutes from Biscayne Bay, the Everglades, the FL Keys, factory outlets, and surrounded by south Florida tropical agriculture (fruits, vegetables, ornamental nurseries, tropical fish farms, etc.). This place is very private and you will feel like you are in the country.

What makes this house unique

Very large patio area for parking boats, multiple vehicles, RVs, etc. You can have a campfire, barbeque, clean your fish, wash your vehicles/boats, etc. on over 3,500 square feet of brand new concrete patio. The house sits on 5 acres of tropical fruit trees and has an electric gated entry way.

Amazing - Clean, organized, quiet, all the good stuff

  • 5 of 5

My family had an incredibly nice stay. The house was cool and clean, very well stocked and organized. There was ample room for our group of five. The grounds were enjoyable, I spent most mornings on the patio watching lizards and birds. The mangoes and avocados growing there were delicious and exciting to have fresh! The site is in good proximity to many outdoor places to visit, being between the Everglades and Biscayne, plus close to the Keys. Grocery shopping and restaurants only a few miles away. Wayne left very detailed info on the house, and gave us a great tour of the trees and told us a lot about the local agriculture. Really an amazing stay. Could not be happier. I recommend this place to any family or group wanting to relax away from an urban setting. I was extremely impressed.

Tropical paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Homestead! The guesthouse is roomy, charming, clean, and comfortable. It was easy to find and access. The homeowners are excellent communicators via rental website, email, and voicemail. The linens were luxurious and mattresses so comfy. We appreciated the coffee and condiments, microwave, toaster, modern bathrooms, beautiful furnishings, and even granite countertops. The setting is a tropical paradise with mango, avocado, lime, and lychee trees just outside the door and across the patio. We wondered around and picked and ate lychees and ciruela off the trees! There was even a carambola tree right by the patio. Wayne and Christina are friendly and kind. They encouraged us to pick whatever we wanted and gave us all kind of fruit to eat while we were here and sent a bunch home with us, too.

The Fruit and Spice Market was a blast, and we marveled at being in the midst of so many huge nurseries and orchards. We took advantage of being so close to 2 different entrances to The Everglades. We loved the Homestead Bayfront Park.

Thank you, Wayne and Christina!

A perfect vacation home for exploring south Florida

  • 5 of 5

This house is on a tropical fruit orchard located in the Redland agricultural district just north of Homestead/Florida city. This is the perfect location for visiting Key West, Everglade National Park and Biscayne National Park.

We, two couples, had a very comfortable stay at this clean and spacious house in a very quiet area. Those host is very responsive to our needs. The host treated us with freshly picked mangoes daily. These mangoes is the yellow mangoes similar to the Manila mango. We really enjoyed to have one mango as part of our breakfast or in the afternoon after returning from an outing.

There are also a number of fruit stands on the main road to this house and a large grocery store (Publix) is only a few miles away. The famous "Robert is here" smoothies joint is only a few miles from this house.

We are glad that we did not stay in Miami and its adjacent cities such as Coral Gables as the traffic there is terrible. We visited Miami and Miami Beach on our last day in Florida. We really did not like the traffic and the hustle and bustle of Miami or Miami Beach after the few leisurely days in a rural setting.

Quiet, charming, excellent location to many nearby attractions, and impeccably maintained.

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. So convenient to many area attractions (The Everglades National Park, Everglades Alligator Farm, Key Largo and John Pennekamp State Park, restaurants, Miami, etc.) and the luxury to be able to spread out and relax after a long day of sight seeing. It's located in an agricultural/nursery district, so very quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Quiet, Clean, Spacious, Perfect Launch Point to the National Parks and the Keys

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five had a wonderful time at Redland Tropics. The house was clean and quite comfortable for our party of 5. We didn't have to fight over bathrooms and the kids really enjoyed having Netflix in each of the rooms. The kitchen is well-stocked, the beds were clean and comfortable, and we really felt like it was home away from home.

The Homestead/Redland area in general has lots of orchard and farm land away from the loud chaos of Miami -- right up my alley! The house sits on 3 acres of orchards with all sorts of variety. We met Wayne while wandering in the orchard and he was gracious enough to take us on an informative tour of the grounds so we could identify the different kinds of fruit.

The location is perfect for getting to either Biscayne or Everglades National Parks (both about 20 minutes away) along with the Keys (we had a short drive down to Key Largo where we enjoyed a nice dinner on the water). We also had short drives to lesser-known spots like the Everglades Alligator Farm and the famous "Robert is Here" fruit stand (10-15 minutes each).

If your objective is to enjoy peace and quiet in a rural setting with quick access to many of the natural wonders of South Florida, I highly recommend you consider staying here.
