About Lydia Kann Nettler

I'm a therapist and artist and have lived in this home for over thirty-five years. I love travel and the outdoors, and therefore am able to share my house with guests whenever I am away. I grew up in New York City and Los Angeles, but have lived in Northampton my whole adult life, preferring its small town feel and gorgeous natural surroundings to the big city. When I want a dose of urban jazziness, NYC and Boston are a short ride away.

Lydia Kann Nettler purchased this house in 1981

Perfect Location for Northampton Family Gathering

  • 5 of 5

We had a perfect family reunion during Smith Graduation weekend. Lydia was very helpful in settling us in and enjoyed the basket of goodies too. Great spacious and private backyard and lovely house with plenty of room for the family. Easy few blocks to college and to downtown stores and restaurants.

Lovely, comfortable home in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this charming and spacious home with our family for our daughter's graduation from UMASS Amherst. Our gracious host left us delicious treats and upon our arrival we wasted no time enjoying her lovely yard. We loved the location and plan to go back and visit Northampton again soon!

Lovely house and welcoming hostess

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Lydia’s Victorian house in Northampton.

Lydia was very helpful and welcoming at all times, having received us a week in advance to show us around the house and the neighborhood. She was very generous and left us a beautiful basket full of goodies on top of the kitchen table to receive us on our Christmas stay at her place. She was also very nice allowing us to leave some load behind to be picked up later on, after our stay. The house itself is as cozy and comfortable as it looks in the pictures, very spacious and has a big backyard. Rooms and beds upstairs are specially confortable. Downstairs the living room and kitchen are very nice, but we felt needed better heating. This goes especially for the living room, which could be better appreciated if a bit warmer (sometimes the heating system could not keep up with the December cold, even if we set the temperature up). Also the oven/fireplace shown in the picture was out of order and could not be used. In spite of this, the house is lovely, nicely decorated and very well located, with a beautiful river walk leading right to Smith College just two blocks away. We highly recommend the stay.

Owner's Response: I'm so pleased that you had a good stay, Sandra, and enjoyed the house and our town. I can imagine coming from Brazil that visiting a New England Victorian house in the winter with all that snow and the freezing temperatures must have been a shock. I'm happy that you left a snowman behind in the yard to show that you also found the winter fun. I hope you will come visit if you return to the area. Best, Lydia

Charming house, comfortable beds, lovely hostess

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I with three teenage boys in tow, stayed here to visit our daughter at Smith. The house was clean, comfortable and interesting, the yard (garden) beautiful and the hostess kind, prompt and through. We had a lovely stay and would happily stay here again.

This place was perfect for our group!

  • 5 of 5

This house is elegant and cozy at the same time. And the location can't be beat.

We were in Northampton for a wedding ... the same weekend as Smith College graduation (gasp!). Needless to say, it was pretty busy in the area. But Lydia's house is a wonderful respite. It sits within walking distance to downtown Northampton, and within walking distance away from downtown ;) It's nestled into a lovely grouping of trees and has a great lawn and patio for hanging out in the sunshine.

The house itself is clean and light and Lydia makes the whole place super accessible. Eight of us stayed here very comfortably, and very happy.

And Lydia herself is wonderful! She's communicative, kind and helpful. Thanks for helping make this a great weekend for us!

The house is available for dates specified and for Smith College Graduation and events. Please contact me if questions about available dates. My cancellation policy is more strict around event weekends... if they are booked well in advance, I will require that the deposit is nonrefundable if the booking is cancelled less than six months in advance. The special event weekends such as a college graduation are usually booked many months in advance and I won't be able to fill the vacancy close to the date of the event. Thank you for understanding.

The house is big and excessive use of either heat or A/C can become prohibitively expensive and wasteful. I assume most people will be considerate and energy conscious. Thank you.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
