Description

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday apartment in Newport - La Casa Playa Christina

1 Bedroom, King W/murphy Bed, Queen, Sleeps Four, Kids And Pets Welcome PRIVATE!

"First I would like to mention that we do not charge anything extra for cleaning, pets, or more than 2 guests. We don't believe in nickel and dime-ing people, and some of these fees actually double your nightly rate! So be watchful when comparing prices" .

Now on to the fun stuff:

Private apartment in a secluded area with beautiful forest and ocean views

from every window. We provide everything for your get away, including

linens, full kitchen, wifi , cable tv , games, DVD's and more. You can walk out the door

and go hiking on the logging roads and trails, or go beach combing. Or you can relax on your ocean view private deck with a cup of coffee and a good book. Newport,

Depoe bay and Lincoln City are just minutes away and offer many dining and shopping choices. Hike, fish, crab, clam, surf, beach comb, or just relax in beautiful surroundings. Leather furniture, antiques and eclectic decor add to the fun, and the tranquility of the apt. Completely private entrance and parking. A BBQ is available on the deck for grilling, as well as a crab cooker. Please bring brickkets. Please if you intend to bring your pet, either bring a throw to put over the leather couch, or don't let them up there. There little claws leave scratch marks!

PLEASE NOTE:

Airbnb rentals are not for everyone, they are NOT a hotel, but an alternative to hotel staying.

We are ocean "view", but not directly on the beach. You can walk to the beach if you like, but I don't recommend it as you cross the coastal highway.

We have a dog.......a big, friendly dog. He lives here. You are welcome to bring your dog but please remember we don't charge any extra fees for pets and your dog staying is a courtesy, not something you have paid for. Please be mindful that there are "free range" chickens around as well.

Certain times of year our water (well water) can be slightly dark in color. It is perfectly safe, however we do provide bottled water for drinking and ice.

The hugh living room windows are a focal point to enjoy the view. Therefore we have chosen not to put blinds or curtains on them. Being a secluded property this isn't normally an issue, (we don't have any in our house). The kitchen and the bedroom do, however, have window coverings.

The bedroom is small, just big enough for the King size bed, a dresser and chair.

We are 3.5 miles from the center of Newport. If you want to be in the absolute "thick" of things, this may be a little too far out. Approx. 5-8 min. drive.

If any of these things are an issue for you, please ask questions before booking, or reconsider your choices. Thank you!

About Christine Allen

Hi! I'm Chris, married to Steve. We recently retired...I owned and operated a Day Spa and Steve was an asphalt maintenance contractor. We have done a lot of traveling in the last 25 years and have had such great experiences staying in vacation rentals offered by VRBO that we decided to give it a shot ourselves. Actually we have an apt. in Panama City, Panama for 8 years, that, when we are not visiting, we use as a vacation rental, but this is our first venture here at home on the Central Oregon Coast. We love visiting new places, meeting people of different cultures etc... We also love animals, especially dogs. I personally am a big reader, and Steve, likes to fish, crab and basically do anything outdoors. I like to cook, and oh, then there is wine! We are big wine drinkers and have quite the collection. Steve is a native of Newport, Oregon and I have been here 25 years, a transplant from the Auburn/Tahoe area of California. We have 4 grown sons, 2 in Bend, 1 in Pendleton and 1 in Argentina. Hope you will come visit, it is really awesome on the coast, summer is amazing and winter is fabulous storm watching.

Christine Allen purchased this apartment in 2001

Why Christine Allen chose Coastal Oregon

We happen to be lucky enough to live in a spectacular area. As much as we like to travel, we have yet to find a place we like better than the central Oregon coast. There is just so much to do, especially if you are a fan of outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, crabbing, clamming, bike riding, surfing, mushroom picking and on and on. And even if you're not it is still FABULOUS. We have so many really good restaurants. Not the chain kind, but "one of a kind" and you can shop in whatever venue suits you. Small specialty boutiques are all over, and we have a very large outlet mall. There is something "literally" for everyone. Large, modern aquarium, Hatfield Marine Science Center, the bay front with all it's old school salt water taffy shops, and seafood restaurants , not to mention Ripley's Believe It or Not and The Wax Museum. Or, if it is more your vibe hit Nye Beach, way more laid back and less touristy options. Great restaurants there too, Café Mundo, Nana's, Café Stephanie, Aprils, etc... You can also access the beach from there as well. We also have The PAC, which is a big city style theater house where live plays and concerts are preformed. It really is a great place to to live.

What makes this apartment unique

We recommend our apartment for your stay BECAUSE: It is in an awesome location. You can literally be on the beach or hiking in the forest in 5 mins. If you want something more, Newport is a 3.5 mile drive away, Depoe Bay is 10 minute drive and Lincoln City about 20-25. The apartment is well appointed with everything you would need. Full kitchen with dishes, pots and pans, anything you would need for cooking a light breakfast or a seven course dinner. We set you up with plenty of towels, even beach towels and a beach blanket! Both our beds, the California King and the Queen Murphy bed are extremely comfy and dressed in nice bed linens and quilts. We provide cable TV with a DVD player and movies, and free wifi. The décor is eclectic and fun. The high ceilings and lots of windows give the place an open, yet cozy vibe. The private ocean view deck is a perfect place to relax and watch the sunset, or cook up your crab catch or grill an awesome steak dinner. AND last, but not least we are really nice people and are happy to give you A: lots of help and direction or B: be completely invisible :-)

Good overall.

Couldn't get the key lock open, which was very inconvenient in the pouring rain, but came quickly once called. Parking area kinda small for a pickup. Dog hair on the floor and furniture.

Secluded paradise upon the hill

  • 5 of 5

Inviting, warm, and tranquil. The cottage was well appointed, the bed was very comfortable, and I loved that there were original editions of some of the best comic stories.

Coming from VA I was relieved to see a welcome pack consisting of food and brochures for local places to see and eat. While staying at Playa Christina, we had very few concerns and absolutely no stress.

We cannot wait to get back!!!!!

Loved the views!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay so much! The views are breath taking from every window. We spent most of our time on the deck looking at the view and playing with Chay. Our host were very friendly and had great suggestions on what to see. Would love to come back again. Thank you for your hospitality!

Not as picturesque as advertised.

  • 1 of 5

To start the parking for (one) vehicle is miniscule and in a treed, dirt spot which is not ideal for a luxury car. You cannot turn around, you either have to hope your car will squeeze in beside their cars in their driveway with rocks and wood or back down a very steep driveway. The house is quaint with the exception thay the only bathroom is in kitchen and very very small. Most all housewares are very aged, not what we normally see in a home beach rental. The owners dog while very cute is very noisy in the early am when you're trying to sleep past 730 am...his collar or leash. Also we chose this place to test out to bring one of our dogs to as we love pet friendly places, my dog would be scared of your large rottweiler. The homeowner uses a back up notifier on his truck...again very early am and some days several times in an hour.not ideal for relaxation. The beach is touted to be just down the road...it is but not convenient to walk to as advertised. Eating breakfast in front of the beautiful scenery is tainted by drive bys by the owners, again they can see right into the room..no privacy as there are no curtains in that area. While sleeping we saw a person walk by our window and look in...possibly walking the dog we were unsure. We will not be staying again due to these issues and concerns. If I had been with my husband who rented the house we would of probably checked out early and went to somewhere more private. It worked in a pinch for me and my sister.

Owner's Response: We knew it was bound to happen..........truly you can't please every one. The lowest rating of one star seems awfully harsh as we never received anything less than 4 stars in over 100 stays. I'm sorry your dog wouldn't like our dog.....we do state there is a dog on property, he is young and very friendly. I don't agree the kitchen stuff is " aged" it's not....or that the view is not as picturesque as advertised......I guess that is a matter of opinion, but virtually every one else mentions how it is so much better than stated. Yes our parking spot is small but at least it is " off street". Sorry your " luxury car" felt cramped. Lastly I have serious doubts that any one walked by and " looked in the window ". We have no neighbors and it certainly wasn't myself or my husband. I am so glad you were only booked a short time. I would have hated for you to have to endure it for any longer and I certainly wouldn't want unhappy guests or that kind of negativity around my home . Even though at first thought I would think to suggest an exclusive ( and expensive) resort or remote bungalow on a private island......I have a feeling you find fault wherever you go.

Quiet, dog friendly retreat with super comfy bed and friendly, helpful owners

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time sitting on the porch and listening to the waves with lots of privacy. The cement floors made clean up really easy and I loved the colorful and unique decor. The big bed was super comfy and there was ample room for lounging on the couch. Make sure that your dog gets along with other dogs as my elderly dog was a little too grumpy with their young sweet puppy. The owners were really responsive and friendly and left an adorable little basket of goodies and brochures and the price was perfect. The driveway parking situation was a little awkward and very steep, but other than that, we would certainly recommend this to people who want an affordable place to stay close to Newport.
