Things to do nearby:
Lummi island is nature lover's delight, a quiet and peaceful place to reconnect with nature, and your partner.
There is a hiking trail to the top of the island with an incredible view of all the San Juan islands and the surrounding salish sea.
Frank's beach is an afternoon sun beach on the west side of the island, and is a good place to view sunsets over Vancouver island.
Bring your dog for a walk: Franks' beach is off-leash. You can also walk your dog off-leash on the old gravel road that leads to a wonderful beach area at smuggler's cove.
The Curry Preserve also has a nice hiking trail in the deep woods.
Awesome adult get away
Totally quiet in the woods on an island with view of snow capped mtns and the bay
We had an amazing time at the property for our anniversary. Grant was a very nice and hospitable person who made us feel welcome the second we arrived. He showed us around and we even walked our dogs around for a bit before he left. Our evening was very quiet and peaceful and it was exactly what we were looking for. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing getaway.
We stayed at Grant's place on Lummi Island in December 2016. We happened to pick a cold and snowy weekend, and Grant was very helpful and accommodating, even helping us carry our luggage up the hill (it was too snowy for our car)! He showed us all the necessities in the cabin and was available for any questions we had. It was the perfect place for the 4 of us to stay in, play board games, and cook. We loved waking up to the gorgeous views from the bedrooms and the balcony. We also really appreciated the cabin being pet-friendly. The cabin was well-stocked with firewood, and once we got the hang of it, the wood stove did a great job heating the house. We are already discussing our return to the island in the summer! Thank you, Grant!
Grant's place was a perfect spot to get out of the city and spend thanksgiving! Secluded cabin with everything you need. Kitchen stocked with all the pots, pans, and utensils needed to prep an elaborate meal all while enjoying great water views out the window. Warming up in the hot tub outdoors or claw foot tub indoors are great options following a hike up Baker Preserve Trail, or just cozying up by the indoor fireplace. If the weather was better we would have also spent time out on the patio sitting around the fire pit. Grant was so attentive to us and our needs- welcomed us to the property and gave a tour of the trails in the backyard, and was accessible to us during our stay if there was anything we needed. Definitely a place we will keep in mind for future getaways!
My husband and I enjoyed our 3-day stay on Lummi Island in mid-October. Grant the cabin owner has added many extra touches like metalwork on the downstairs ceiling. Inviting wood rocking chairs in front of the wood stove, cool wooden railings to the upstairs, and a kitchen floor made of small pebbles from the beach all add to the charm. The big bed upstairs is one of the most comfortable I have slept in a rental cabin and the wood fire heated hot tub was sooo enjoyable after a day of hiking around the island and visiting with the many docile deer.
I made the mistake not researching the area much, assumed it was a part of the same ferry systems that go to the San Juan and Orcas Islands. Was fun getting to explore What Lummi has to offer. The Beach House Cafe is a must. Food was excellent. It was a nice stay. Very secluded.
We and our dog came here for a weekend away and couldn't have fallen any more in love. Grant was there to greet us with fires going. He made sure we knew how to use the stove and absolutely amazing hot tub, as well as showing us some good hiking paths before leaving us to enjoy our stay.
I'm not exaggerating when I say every single thing was perfect. The bedroom was cozy and had a beautiful view and a nice balcony with a convenient set of stairs leading outside. The yard was fully fenced so we could let our nature-loving dog roam around while we relaxed in the hot tub—which was powered by fire! The sunsets were gorgeous and we had a selection of great places to watch it from.
Overall, the best choice we've ever made.
