|Minimum Stay||4 - 5 nights|
Kiwi Kai is perfect for the couple or family that enjoys tropical open air living. This 910 square foot unit is right on the beach at Cayman Kai, Rum Point, North Side, on the island of Grand Cayman. You will be a few steps from snorkeling, swimming or wading in the beautiful Caribbean Sea. Soak up the sun on your nearly private beach where you can listen to the gentle sounds of lapping waves. The ocean area at the Sea Lodges is designated a protected marine park, so the fish and the reef are amazing. Depending on the time of year, you might spot some turtles - they like the turtle grass, which is also protected given the importance of the Caymanian turtles - you will even find turtles on the Caymanian flag and currency!
All rooms have Caribbean views and open to screened porches. Two chaise lounges and a hammock are available for your use. We also supply a charcoal grill. Ceilings are vaulted to 16 feet with Casablanca fans throughout. Kiwi Kai uses louvered doors and windows for cross-ventilation cooling, permitting you to listen to the amazing sound of the wind in the palm trees and the soothing ocean waves. We also have air conditioning in the bedroom and kitchen/living area (two units).
The kitchen is equipped for your cooking needs, and there is a washer/dryer in the unit available for your use. The comfortable living room includes a sleeper sofa and contains a few books and games. This is definitely a retreat from a busy world and a get-away from the touristy spots elsewhere on the island. We do, however, supply a smart TV with Netflix connectivity (no regular/cable tv) and a modem for Ethernet and wireless internet access.
Kiwi Kai is licensed by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, meeting strict standards of safety and cleanliness (notwithstanding ownership changes, Kiwi Kai has been continuously licensed since the 1990s!).
For more action, head over to Rum Point - a short walk or drive away, where you can pick up excursions (Stingray Sandbar, snorkeling, glass bottom boat tour, etc.) and rent snorkeling, safety, and water sports equipment. You can also find a bite to eat there at the Wreck Bar (casual lunch on the beach) and at Rum Point Club (nice dinner at Rum Point).
Kaibo Beach Bar and Grill (casual lunch and dinner on the beach), Kaibo Upstairs (special occasion dinners), and Starfish Point are just a few minutes away. The bioluminescent bay is also nearby, and there are a few operators that offer night-time kayak tours, with availability depending on the lunar cycle. You can also check out the Queen Elizabeth II Royal Botanic Park (~20 minutes from Kiwi Kai), the Blue Iguana Recovery Programme (tours available at the Botanic Park), and the Mastic Trail (~20 minutes from Kiwi Kai).
We have been to Grand Cayman many times, and we spent the first three visits at Seven Mile Beach. On our fourth trip, we stayed at the Retreat at Rum Point, Unit 15, and fell in love with it! We love Cayman Kai and the Rum Point area so much, and we decided to purchase a second unit so that we could bring our family and friends with us to our "paradise"! As with our unit at the Retreat, we are happy to share Kiwi Kai with our guests!
Michelle Boudreaux purchased this condo in 2015
We chose Kiwi Kai because it has it all -- a gorgeous, almost-private beach, beautiful water, a great location near activities and restaurants and Rum Point (while still retaining an off-the-beaten path feeling), and proximity to our other unit at the Retreat.
For a couple of families traveling together, we also own Unit 15 at the Retreat at Rum Point, another beachfront one-bedroom unit. Cayman Retreat 15 is about a ten minute walk or one minute drive from Kiwi Kai.
We stayed here over the Christmas holiday and could not have asked for a better get away. The north side of Grand Cayman is very quiet compared to the hustle and bustle of George Town where all the cruise ships come in to port, which is exactly what we were looking for. The Sea Lodge is set up superbly to catch the sea breeze that constantly blows. All the appliances worked great as well. Michelle was very responsive to our many questions leading up to our stay. The Wreck Bar is just a short walk away and the snorkeling right off the beach in front of the Sea Lodge was awesome. In short, this is a perfect vacation spot to relax and we look forward to visiting again in the future and would highly recommend this to any of our close friends and relatives as well.
We stayed at Kiwi Kai in early June and had a wonderful time! The cottage was exactly as described, was very clean, and had everything we needed. We love the north shore of Grand Cayman, for it's low key and quiet vibe. The Rum Point area is amazing, and we definitely spent plenty of time hanging at the beach, and enjoying the Wreck Bar & Restaurant. And while Rum Point is definitely low key compared to Seven Mile Beach, we really appreciated coming back to Kiwi Kai in the late afternoon/evenings for the ultimate peace and tranquility. Michelle, the owner, was wonderful to work with, and provided a ton of great information to get us going. We are a family of 4, with 2 kids ages 5 and 9, and we felt that Kiwi Kai had plenty of space for us. The front and back lanais really add to the space you have and we never felt cramped. We will be back!
Thanks for an amazing trip to a very special place! We fell in love with the Rum Point area, and Kiwi Kai was great! We enjoyed snorkeling at the Sea Lodge beach - saw a huge lobster and stingray. The condo had everything we needed and was well decorated and clean. We appreciated the air conditioning, but didn't need it every night. The owner and property manager are very responsive, and the information the owner sent before our trip was super informative. Thanks again and hopefully we'll be back next year!
The description was exact, the place was clean, quaint, had everything you needed to cook every meal and a 100% beautiful view for relaxing. The regulars are kind, inviting and very helpful. Don't bother searching for hours like I did looking for anything better, it's this place!
In a word...outstanding. We are Cayman vets that are lucky enough to usually stay with friends. However, this trip we needed to branch out and The Sea Lodges fit the bill.
The level of communication with the property owner was outstanding from start to finish. The owner also has put together the most comprehensive information guide I have ever seen. We know Cayman and we even learned some new things from this guide.
Arrival was a breeze, accommodations were perfect and we will be back. If you are thinking about where to stay in Cayman....Seven Mile or Northside. Go with the Northside and all it has to offer....Rum Point & Kaibo in particular....and stay @ Sea Lodges...you will not regret it.
Cozy and secluded cottage right on the beach. Felt like a celebrity with my own private beach and villa. Although there were a handful of cottages in the area, my companion and I felt like we had the beach all to ourselves.
The complex is definitely not a cooke-cutter multi-story condo. If you are looking to escape the crowds and enjoy the serenity of the ocean (but still have some nearby places to enjoy food and drink), then this is the place for you.
The cottage is an easy 45 minute drive (with no traffic) from the airport and the action at Georgetown adding to its peaceful vibe. But although the cottage is not in the city, there are restaurants nearby and the bar at Rum Point is an easy 5 minute walk along the beach straight to the cottage. And don't forget to try the "Mudslides".
The cottage's kitchen was stocked so I would recommend stopping for groceries when you arrive at the airport and enjoy some home-cooked meals with the view of the ocean. Nothing beats the beautiful view from the screened in back porch and comfy chairs while drinking your morning coffee.
If needed there is air conditioning in the bedroom...but to really enjoy the location..open the louvers (located in the kitchen, living room and bed room)..and let the sea breeze in and hear the ocean waves. Just listening to the sound of the ocean made my trip.
The cottage felt airy, with high ceilings and white walls w/ Caribbean inspired decor. Bright colors throughout. The bed and sofa were comfy. Cottage has tons of beach towels, blankets, sun hats, and even binoculars. So make sure to ask the lodge owner on the amenities of the property. Was so glad to see the sun hat as I left mine at home!
Loved the snorkeling and check out the Sting Ray tour. An unforgettable experience holding my own sting ray.
Rum Point is a short walk or drive away!
