They will have enough food and water so guest do not need to do anything for them. We have hens that lay fresh eggs that guests are welcome to. If there are vegetables and herbs growing in the garden, we hope you will help yourself to them.
This is a great house for friends and family to enjoy time together.
I am originally from Taiwan, and met my husband (From Texas) in Vietnam while backpacking in Southeast Asia over a decade ago. We have been raising our 3 daughters in Blacksburg Virginia over the past 9 years.
I traveled extensively through southeast Asia, parts of central and south America and Europe, Egypt. I spent some time living on a small island in Indonesia, Budapest and Cambodia. I have always preferred guesthouses over hotels and always love the conversations that are brought on by people from different countries, backgrounds and walks of life.
I love photography, scuba diving, windsurfing, kayaking, exploring nature, and trying new things and seeing new places.
I speak fluent Mandarin in addition to English, and my husband speaks fluent French and conversational Spanish. The children and I are currently learning Spanish.
We hope to raise our children to be world citizens with a broader understanding and appreciation of the world we live in and the people we meet.
Jennifer Jen purchased this house in 2009
This house is conveniently located only 6 minutes from downtown yet has the beautiful setting of the countryside with views of mountains and valleys.
The open floor plan is great for entertaining. The back of the house is all glass and gives stunning views of the mountains and sunrise.
This house is a hidden gem. It has beautiful open space with tasteful decor. The scenery is amazing with a huge private yard, great time spent on the deck. Jen was a great host and made us feel at home. I would highly recommend this place!
We rented this location for a college reunion with four families. The backyard was ideal for our 4 children ranging from ages 5 to 10 years old. The play set, trampoline, and creek were so much fun for them. One other cool thing about our stay was the chickens. We enjoyed bringing in the eggs each morning. They had four eggs in an incubator and two hatched while we were there....pretty neat to see! We did well with the animals, but if you are not an animal/pet person you may want to get details from the owner. The distance to grocery stores and the VT campus made it the perfect location for us! Thank you for some great memories!
We have rented numerous houses over the years but never have I encountered such a hands-on owner who was so quick to answer all of my questions, including during my stay.
We spent a long weekend with extended family in Blacksburg to celebrate my husband’s graduation with his Master’s from Virginia Tech. The house is located just outside of downtown Blacksburg up a rather winding road with a picturesque backyard view.
The nicely decorated and well-stocked house had everything we needed to make several meals. Collecting the eggs from the chickens was a big treat for our youngest son. He also enjoyed the family's outdoor cat and two dogs. There were plenty of sheets/towels for everyone including the air mattress that was provided.
Since we were there in December, Blacksburg didn’t disappoint with its strong winds and snow flurries. We spent a lot of time huddled around the gas fireplace in the family room watching TV on the Roku. The grandparents had some withdrawal from watching cable stations like Fox News but quickly adjusted when we showed them they could access on their iPads over the WiFi.
If coming from the North and the weather is decent, I recommend taking the alternate scenic route to the house vs. going through Christiansburg. It’s beautiful country.
Plenty of room for kids and family here. I love being surrounded by great views of the land. Rooms and furniture are comfortable. And town is a short drive away.
The house is conveniently located in a serene neighborhood. Down town Blacksburg and VT is about 10 minutes drive away. The property is huge with beautiful landscaping and balcony view. The house is clean and spacious. The Jen family was extremely helpful and welcoming. We've had a memorable stay and fun time hiking some of the neighboring trails. Can't wait to be back again soon!
Last year our family rented this perfect location for the VT graduation. A short distance from the campus allowed us to be together in a perfect setting and enjoy each other for the graduation festivities. A beautiful setting and very spacious lay out of the house was perfect. A large eating area off the kitchen was wonderful for our meals . We catered from Kroger but there is cooking facilities. A very nice porch and a large yard with playground equipment added to the homey feel. "A Fantastic Experience"
