About Jennifer Jen

I am originally from Taiwan, and met my husband (From Texas) in Vietnam while backpacking in Southeast Asia over a decade ago. We have been raising our 3 daughters in Blacksburg Virginia over the past 9 years.

I traveled extensively through southeast Asia, parts of central and south America and Europe, Egypt. I spent some time living on a small island in Indonesia, Budapest and Cambodia. I have always preferred guesthouses over hotels and always love the conversations that are brought on by people from different countries, backgrounds and walks of life.

I love photography, scuba diving, windsurfing, kayaking, exploring nature, and trying new things and seeing new places.

I speak fluent Mandarin in addition to English, and my husband speaks fluent French and conversational Spanish. The children and I are currently learning Spanish.

We hope to raise our children to be world citizens with a broader understanding and appreciation of the world we live in and the people we meet.

Amazing home in Blacksburg for our wedding weekend!!!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our weekend stay at this beautiful home!! It's spacious and very well kept, has beautiful views, and is perfectly situated close to everything in Blacksburg. The owners are incredibly gracious and hospitable, they even found and returned a few items that were left behind. We had a 5 star experience and highly recommend this place to everyone!!

Gorgeous house and property

  • 5 of 5

We loved every part of our stay. The interior of the house was open and spacious and beautifully decorated. You can tell the family put a lot of heart into their home. It provided everything we needed and was perfect for family gathering. We felt very welcomed and at home. The back yard was very private with beautiful will rolling mist every morning and gorgeous views of the mountains and valley.

This is a gem that you are in a lovely country setting but only minutes driving to town.

We highly recommend this house.

Reunion Success!

  • 4 of 5

We rented this location for a college reunion with four families. The backyard was ideal for our 4 children ranging from ages 5 to 10 years old. The play set, trampoline, and creek were so much fun for them. One other cool thing about our stay was the chickens. We enjoyed bringing in the eggs each morning. They had four eggs in an incubator and two hatched while we were there....pretty neat to see! We did well with the animals, but if you are not an animal/pet person you may want to get details from the owner. The distance to grocery stores and the VT campus made it the perfect location for us! Thank you for some great memories!

Beautiful Blacksburg Never Disappoints

  • 4 of 5

We have rented numerous houses over the years but never have I encountered such a hands-on owner who was so quick to answer all of my questions, including during my stay.

We spent a long weekend with extended family in Blacksburg to celebrate my husband’s graduation with his Master’s from Virginia Tech. The house is located just outside of downtown Blacksburg up a rather winding road with a picturesque backyard view.

The nicely decorated and well-stocked house had everything we needed to make several meals. Collecting the eggs from the chickens was a big treat for our youngest son. He also enjoyed the family's outdoor cat and two dogs. There were plenty of sheets/towels for everyone including the air mattress that was provided.

Since we were there in December, Blacksburg didn’t disappoint with its strong winds and snow flurries. We spent a lot of time huddled around the gas fireplace in the family room watching TV on the Roku. The grandparents had some withdrawal from watching cable stations like Fox News but quickly adjusted when we showed them they could access on their iPads over the WiFi.

If coming from the North and the weather is decent, I recommend taking the alternate scenic route to the house vs. going through Christiansburg. It’s beautiful country.
