About Maureen and Don Robertson

We have owned this cabin for many years having built it in 1973. We are retired and live in Vancouver, BC.

Maureen and Don Robertson purchased this chalet in 1972

Why Maureen and Don Robertson chose British Columbia

This is a lovely part of BC, just over the Alison Pass and thus in the "rain shadow" meaning that it is drier and often warmer than on the coast. In winter it can be colder than on the coast. An easy 2.5 hour drive mostly on 4 lane roads.

What makes this chalet unique

It is beside the river chichis lovely to sit beside and enjoy the sounds of nature.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Your cabin was perfect! We enjoyed the hot tub, chocolates, water & nuts, the comfy bed, fluffy towels, birdseed and nuts for the animals, the electric blankets, you new propane fire pit, all your art, stocked kitchen (we cooked several gourmet meals) and found all we needed minus a cheese grater. It felt like home - my heritage is German/Danish - so the teak, ceramics & all the wood & art feels familiar. Our cat just loved prowling around in the garden, climbing trees & fences and went for a long walk with us around Eastgate.

You convection over/microwave is not super intuitive to use so perhaps an instruction card would help here.

All the notes on how to use things were great & made us feel nothing was off limits.

You two have a wonderful getaway here and we very much hope to return in the winter or maybe even in the fall.

Thank you for sharing your little slice of paradise with us.

Lovely, quiet cabin on the river!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful, very well appointed cabin. Located on the Similkameen river and close to gorgeous hiking and mountain bike trails, lakes and the Manning Park Resort. We hope to stay here again to enjoy another family holiday.

We loved the chalet and its location by the river and proximity to Vancouver! It was clean, well appointed, and had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend away. Don and Maureen were wonderful and easy to deal with. We would love to return!

Comfortable get away!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great find. The location and setting is gorgeous. The owners made us feel like their special guests. They made sure all our needs were met and more. The chalet is tastefully decorated with a European flair along with a Pacific Northwest coziness. A perfect place for just relaxing at your leisure. The chalet contains so many extra conveniences that makes for a comfortable get away. We enjoyed a delicious Saturday morning breakfast at the Manning Park Resort Dining room. Thank you for your warm hospitality!

Gem in Manning Park

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful cottage. Amazing location right on the river. Linens of a 5 star resort. Comfortable beds. Total rustic cottage feel with the amenities of a 5 star resort. Great kitchen, amazing stove. Hot tub facing the river. Our kids loved it! Spent all day in the river with tubes, collecting rocks and racing stick boats. Owners are very attentive and communication is fantastic. We will back!!
