Why Yosemite Mountain Escapes chose Yosemite

Oak Valley Retreat is nestled in on almost 6 acres of private land overlooking the winter and spring time Aqua Fria Creek and Guadalupe Mountain Range. This house hosts spectacular views and the night times are just as great with a spectacular star light show and the sounds of screech owls make you feel like you are in a theater. The wildlife around the property is amazing all times of the year with deer roaming, turkeys gobbling, quail singing, and once in a while a grey fox or two. This area was very popular during the mining era of the 1800's, where people came to full fill there dreams of getting rich finding gold. The prospecting opportunities were and still are endless. Whether it is spring, summer, fall, or winter this property shines.

large spacious quiet and cozy property

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house - the kitchen was well stocked and useful, the common areas large and fun to hang out, and the bedrooms spacious and comfortable. Would recommend for a house for a big group looking to stay near yosemite.

Large, clean, great fireplace and TV choice, great views and activities.

  • 4 of 5

Friendly property manager, private creek running through the land, horseshoe pit, etc. Very spacious house. Could have done with more pans or pan lids and kitchen utensils, bowls, trays, etc. but all other amenities are accommodated and then some.

The hot tub had apparently broken down a few days before arrival - we weren't told this until arrival and there were no plans to repair the hot tub, so our stay started out with disappointment since that was a key factor for booking the property. Another annoyance was that there was no hot water in the first morning - the pilot light had gone out but the manager walked me through re-lighting the pilot.

Other than those hiccups, the property is certainly very livable and serves the holiday purpose just fine. Thanks.

Great quiet location with all the amenities

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay! The house is very clean and well decorated. I couldn't ask for a better location, close to Yosemite and Mariposa, but secluded away from the all the crowds of the park. The kids had so much fun playing by the creek, in the game room, and in the hot tub they almost don't want to go to the park. My wife was right there with them, after seeing the deer walking through the back yard, and across the creek. The Jennings really outdo themselves with the fresh fruit, wine, coffee, plenty of fire wood, and towels. They really seemed to think of anything you could want here. I was also very impressed by Chris' honesty. He refunded my discount when I probably wouldn't have noticed I was charged full price. My wife is already asking when we can come back. This was truest a great rental.

Nice house in amazing setting

  • 5 of 5

We booked this home in Mariposa for a family vacation for my family of 6. There was plenty of room for all of us and the scenery around the house was nothing short of spectacular.

Upon arrival, we were met at the property by Chris and his lovely wife (Property Managers for this property). They were extremely friendly and provided a tour of the home. They provided some goodies to make us feel at home (fruit basket, cheese and crackers, wine). They also gave us some recommendations for the local area.

Later that night, the hot water wasn't working and Chris was over quickly to get a new gas bottle hooked up (big propane tank ran out) and had the big tank filled the next day so it was minimal impact to our stay. He was very apologetic, but these things happen. Wasn't going to let it ruin our stay.

The house is a bit of a drive from Yosemite (about an hour), but it gave us opportunities to explore other attractions in the area and to enter Yosemite from alternate entrances. Mariposa is a lovely little town.

We will definitely look to stay here again on a future trip to the area. Looking forward to it!

Wonderful as always

  • 5 of 5

From the Mariposa coffee in the morning to the wine and fruit later Chris takes care of everything. My kids enjoyed the spa even in the rain. While I was fine sitting by the warm wood stove enjoying the view and privacy. You really can't find many places this nice to stay.

Location

There is an abundance of things to do in this location with the town of Mariposa only 7.5 miles away, and Yosemite only 41 miles away. There are a lot of advantages staying near the town of Mariposa, including dining, shopping, mining and mineral museums, zip lining tours, mining tours, fishing and much more depending on the season. The house is located in a beautiful neighborhood with paved roads right up to the driveway which is gravel. When you get to the house you will have a beautiful peaceful and private setting with lots of space. There is a a lot of deer, turkeys and some grey fox roaming the area which are spectacular for viewing. If you like to bike ride this is a perfect safe area for a morning walk or ride and see the deer feeding. When aqua fria creek is running you can pan for some gold on the property or hang out and barbecue while enjoying the hot tub and game room.Oak Valley Retreat hosts a ton of entertainment from morning until night with wi fi and direct tv for the evening movies.
