Oak Valley Retreat is nestled in on almost 6 acres of private land overlooking the winter and spring time Aqua Fria Creek and Guadalupe Mountain Range. This house hosts spectacular views and the night times are just as great with a spectacular star light show and the sounds of screech owls make you feel like you are in a theater. The wildlife around the property is amazing all times of the year with deer roaming, turkeys gobbling, quail singing, and once in a while a grey fox or two. This area was very popular during the mining era of the 1800's, where people came to full fill there dreams of getting rich finding gold. The prospecting opportunities were and still are endless. Whether it is spring, summer, fall, or winter this property shines.
From the Mariposa coffee in the morning to the wine and fruit later Chris takes care of everything. My kids enjoyed the spa even in the rain. While I was fine sitting by the warm wood stove enjoying the view and privacy. You really can't find many places this nice to stay.
The property was perfect for my organizations retreat. No problems finding it at all.
Our family came up for the weekend and wish we could have stayed longer. It was great to get away and enjoy the solitude! Nice location and nice home! Thank you for the cofree, fruit, and wine!!
My family spent two weeks traveling around CA from San Diego to LA, up the coast and then inland to Yosemite. We decided to stay here in the Yosemite Mountain Escape Oak Valley Retreat and it was the best place we stayed during our entire trip! We were greeted by our host and given a tour of this perfect ranch style home! Just as promised in the pictures, our bottle of wine, cheese and crackers and fruit were waiting! We also extracted as much info from him about things to do and the area in general before we were left alone. And I do mean alone. It is so quiet out here. I enjoyed my fresh brewed coffee (that was left by the owner) outside and just listened. All I could hear were birds and the breeze through the trees. The home is large and spacious. There were only 4 of us and the place sleeps 10 so each of the kids had their own room where normally they have to share a bed! The AC works great but you probably really do not need it as the breeze is wonderful and at night it really cools down. Newer washer/drier worked great. Kitchen is fully stocked. There is a great gas grill that we took advantage of as well! The house is very clean and the beds are very comfortable.
This home is everything the listing describes and more. The property is very well maintained and you can tell they are still working to add new thinks. The host (Chris) was very friendly and was "on call" for us the entire length of our visit. But, we did not need to call. My entire family would each recommend this location to anyone that wants to just get away and sit outside or wants to have an affordable location near Yosemite. We did visit the local grocery store for our meals so we did not check out any local restaurants. We spent as much of our daylight hours in Yosemite. The hot tub was great after a day of hiking!! I hope to be lucky enough to get back here some day!
The host was very responsive while pre-booking and during the stay. Just a heads up that the Google maps directions isn't entirely accurate to getting to the house and the host gave me perfect directions that led me easily to the cabin. It was very spacious with comfy beds. Chris is very accommodating and gave us a tour of the house upon check-in. It's just an hour away from Yosemite if you don't feel like staying inside the national park. I would come back next time.
It was a very spacious and comfortable place to stay for our family vacation. The owner's hospitality was great and generous. We enjoyed starry night at the property.
There is an abundance of things to do in this location with the town of Mariposa only 7.5 miles away, and Yosemite only 41 miles away. There are a lot of advantages staying near the town of Mariposa, including dining, shopping, mining and mineral museums, zip lining tours, mining tours, fishing and much more depending on the season. The house is located in a beautiful neighborhood with paved roads right up to the driveway which is gravel. When you get to the house you will have a beautiful peaceful and private setting with lots of space. There is a a lot of deer, turkeys and some grey fox roaming the area which are spectacular for viewing. If you like to bike ride this is a perfect safe area for a morning walk or ride and see the deer feeding. When aqua fria creek is running you can pan for some gold on the property or hang out and barbecue while enjoying the hot tub and game room.Oak Valley Retreat hosts a ton of entertainment from morning until night with wi fi and direct tv for the evening movies.
