Great Apartment in an excellent location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 6 days. This apartment is in a great location, we were able to walk every where ( Edinburgh Castle, Mary King Close, Edinburgh Museum, The Royal Mile, Arthurs Seat, numerous stores, Pubs, local grocery store), and too many more places to mention. The people we rented from were informative and very helpful, the apartment is clean and very comfortable. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is travelling and wants to explore Edinburgh but also wants to feel the comforts of home. Thank you to Donna & her husband for starting my trip to Edinburgh off on a happy & relaxed note.

A perfect space for two

  • 5 of 5

The apartment has everything a couple might need for a short stay. The living room and bedroom are both a good size and each has a huge window making these two rooms feel even more spacious. There's a choice of comfortable seating in the living room, lots of storage for clothes in the bedroom and the kitchen is well organised with a good range of equipment, cutlery and crockery. The apartment is so nice we didn't feel like we were missing out when the Edinburgh weather got so bad we stayed indoors for a day and watched from the beautiful big windows as the rest of the world got drenched. Being on the 3rd floor the stairs up to the apartment were sometimes a challenge after a long day walking around Edinburgh but one can always take rests on the landings and the steps themselves are shallow. Donna who manages the apartment was very friendly and helpful. Most importantly the location is excellent. Only a short walk to the main tourist area of George St and Princes St and a nearby bus service for those who don't fancy the uphill walk.

Great location and attentive host -- we loved this flat.

  • 5 of 5

23 Great King Street is in "New Town", i.e., 18th, rather than 16th century. The flat is in a row of beautifully preserved Georgian buildings, about a 20-minute walk from Waverley Station, downhill coming from the station, but uphill going back -- there are, however, two very frequent buses (23 and 27) on Dundas Street, less than a block away. Also on Dundas is a Tesco "Express" market, which is all we needed. Donna our host was most attentive and had the fridge stocked with staples such as milk, butter, coffee, etc. for our arrival. There is excellent wifi service and cable tv. The flat has been lovingly redecorated and immaculately clean. This was a superb base for our six-day visit to the beautiful city of Edinburgh and it was a pleasure to come back each day to this quiet and classy neighbourhood. The only caveat may be if you are elderly or infirm, and are not travelling light, you might take into account that the flat is on the second floor, i.e., up two long stairways.
