David and I are health and fitness junkies, foodies, outdoor enthusiasts, and world travelers. We have an appreciation for the hustle and bustle of the city life and greatly enjoy diversity and cultures yet, we cherish the sweet escapes into the outdoors to witness nature at its finest.
David and I fell in love with this property from the moment we drove onto the grounds. We've been searching for a property for several years with the intentions of building a home spacious enough to comfortably accommodate our families and friends, grounds large enough for hiking, biking, snowmobiling, and 4-wheeling yet, close enough to: the best mountains in New York for skiing, and great restaurants and nightlife. Adding more appeal to our hidden gem, it is just a short and easy 2 hour drive from NYC. We ultimately wanted a place where our kids can enjoy the outdoors and our families can come together on weekends, and holidays. After making wonderful memories, we decided to share our home with others to make cherished memories and have enjoyment in our home as we do.
The land and views alone will leave you in awe. The house is a precious gem to say the least. Our uniquely built home encompasses vaulted ceilings with windows offering panaramic views, radiant heating, hand made wooden: cabinets, doors, bars, carpentry, hardwood floors and, custom metal work throughout the home with an artistic impression. All the exquisite details reveal a passionate touch behind the workmanship. Our property also has a barn with chicken coop, goats, and a stable for our free ranging horse, Ed; feed him apples and you will have made a new friend.
Thanks for making our New Years weekend fabulous! We enjoyed your beautiful home & hiking on the property. Our favorite moments were cooking a 12 course NYE dinner and we loved your movie room, the beautiful wooden fixtures, the wonderful fire place and community farm house table. Warmest Wishes for a wonderful next year.
All the best,
The Alex Clan.
P.S. Thanks to Tom for the delicious cake!
My family and I recently had the great pleasure to experience Eagle View ranch in the Catskill Mountains of New York, an easy drive from our home in Northern New Jersey. Eight of us, ages 19 to 60-something, arrived there for a long weekend in late October and were immediately blown away by the stunning natural beauty of the surrounding area, the estate grounds, and the house itself.
The estate sits on some 200 acres of beautifully landscaped property within a naturally wooded setting, offering, among other features, miles of hiking trails featuring cabins and other out-buildings, a lovely pond (with dock and small boat) for fishing in warmer months and ice skating in Winter, a stable housing a horse, goats, and chickens, an all-terrain vehicle course, tennis court, and more. Top-flight skiing at Windham and Hunter Mountains is available just minutes away.
The main house looks out onto a neighboring mountain and features spectacular views. There are spotting scopes and binoculars in the house for guests to use to look for eagles and other indigenous animals, as well as for observing the the starry night skies.
Regarding the main house, it is simply unique! From the overall architectural design to the smallest detail, not one square inch has been overlooked. Walls of glass, a massive family room with a 30 foot fireplace, gourmet kitchen with a commercial walk-in refrigerator, hand-carved wooden doors and drawers, bedrooms featuring fireplaces and jacuzzi tubs, a media room with theater seating, pool room-the list could go on and on but, suffice to say, guests will never lack for comfort and activities to enjoy.
Perhaps the single most memorable element of this jewel of a property was the hospitality that was shown to us by our hosts, David and Michelene, and their full-time caretakers, Tomas and Sylwia (who live in a separate house on the grounds). David and Michelene made every effort to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Tomas and Sylwia, wonderfully gracious and kind people, greeted us upon our arrival, made sure that the house was in order and that we had everything we could possibly need and more throughout the weekend!
We would love to return, perhaps in Winter to enjoy some cold-weather sports, but the estate has such charm that any time of year would still be a treat for the senses. I'm already thinking of a graduation party or, perhaps a family reunion, or, maybe a wedding? I would happily reserve Eagle View for any event.
We are so glad that we picked this property for our corporate gateway...the house has a well thought-out layout with great craftsmanship and unique furniture pieces- we were like kids in a wonderland; discovering clever design elements and things to do there until the last day. It was very relaxing yet adventurous and the owners were nice and accommodating!
Serenity. Tranquility. Adventure. This getaway provided a smorgasbord of experiences that usually requires years of vacations to attain!!!
We were a group of 5 couples and life-long friends aspiring for a vacation experience different than the cliche all-inclusive trip to Dominican Republic/Punta Cana/Mexico or cash-splurging trip to Las Vegas. What we found is what can only be described as a diamond in the rough. From my initial conversation with the owners, David and Michelene, I was sold on what they assured us would be a memorable trip. As I got my first glance at this breathtaking estate, I quickly realized that the website's pictures did not do the property justice; it literally takes your breath away. The landscaping, which includes ponds, streams and hiking/biking trails, is stunning. The peacefulness of the property, howver, pails in comparison to the Mansion on the Mountain. We were met by Tom and Sylvia, the property's caretakers, at the door. These two saints had the home in pristine condition and fully stocked with every item we could have ever wanted/needed - down to the hundreds of pieces of firewood that kept the 50-foot fireplace roaring for our entire four-day stay. Tom checked on us several times a day to ensure that all appliances were functioning properly ensuring the house was fully stocked. Admittedly, we were a little skeptical about squeezing 5 couples into one home. Those fears were quickly spelled when the couples saw the spacious, unique features each of their private bedrooms had to offer (collectively including saunas, spas, jacuzzis, large LED TVs and more). Let's not forget the in-home movie theater with recliner seating. The focal point of the home is by far the world-class kitchen and family room. The designers of this home spent unimaginable focus on every unique detail of the interior design of the home. The kitchen includes a full, 8-range gas stove, double-oven, and in-door gas microwave/grill. It's hands down the most beautiful home I've ever stepped in. We spent our time relaxing, hiking, playing games, taking in the views, preparing epic meals, and drinking on the outdoor patio and fire pit. When our thirst for adventure struck, we hit the slopes at Hunter and Wyndham Mountains, which were conveniently only 15 minutes away!!!
Thank you David and Michelene. The 10 of us gathered each night for what we called Family Dinner. Your hospitality is what made those family dinners feel like home.
We were a small group looking for a relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the usual routine. This house did not disappoint - from the beautiful details throughout the kitchen and bedrooms to the extraordinary fireplace showcased in the center of the home, this home felt lavish as much as it did cozy. Our group had an incredible time cooking up big delicious meals in the gourmet-style kitchen during the days, and hanging out in front of the warm stone fireplace during the evenings. Besides the interior details, the landscaping is nothing short of breathtaking - literally a mountainside paradise complete with hiking/biking trails, ponds, and calming streams. Throughout our stay, we were gifted with everything we could want; David and Michelene went above and beyond to ensure that our trip beat all expectations. This trip was one to remember - we look forward to booking again next year!
This place really is magical, there is no other word to describe it. Thank you so much to Michelene and David for sharing such an incredible place! About our stay: A group of close couples do a weekend getaway every Oct with our stay at this home being the third year in a row. We were completely blown away by this home! I cannot begin to describe the unbelievable grounds, construction details, views, rooms, amenities, etc - the pictures do not do it justice. We were completely in awe from the moment we walked in to our (very sad) departure. Michelene and David truly care about their guests and their experience - this was evident in the house being fully stocked, caretakers (Tom! The nicest and most helpful guy EVER!) helping throughout the entire weekend (without being intrusive in the slightest), and making every effort before, during and after the stay to make sure we were happy and everything was going well. There are endless things to do here including hiking the property trails (with another gorgeous cabin next to a waterfall in the forest!), watching movies/tv in their in door theatre, singing songs in front of the gorgeous 50 ft custom fire place, relaxing in the many saunas/jacuzzis, spending hours staring at the gorgeous views, etc. The kitchen has EVERYTHING you would ever need with everything being professional chef-level quality. The rooms are stunning and perfect for groups. The entire home really is an "experience" with movie-like details and finishes.
No one in our group wanted to leave - this was truly a magical weekend, provided by magical owners. Thank you so much to Michelene, David and Tom. We will definitely return!!!
Absolutely incredible!! Rented this home for a little birthday R&R instead of my typical trip to somewhere like Chicago, New York or Florida where I'd stay at a Ritz Carlton or The Plaza so as you can see renting a home in the Catskills was out of my comfort zone. However, I cannot say enough of how great this trip was. Starting with the home. Pictures and words do not do it justice. The character of the home, including the large 30 foot fireplace, the theatre room, sauna, gourmet kitchen, the iron work throughout the home and up the spiral staircase, the lighting fixtures that illuminate the expansive living area looking out floor to ceiling windows onto the expansive grounds of this gorgeous estate are just some of the thoughts that come to mind as I sit here on my last day contemplating asking the owners, David and Michelene to stay one more. Next the owners. My fiancé asked them if they could arrange flowers, balloons and a cheese tray for our arrival as it was my birthday. Not only did they arrange it, but they insisted on treating for it. They called to make sure everything was okay, to see if we needed anything and provided us with a list of restaurants in the area. Couldn't ask for anything more. Lastly, I have to mention the caretakers of the property, Tom and his wife Sylvia. Tom checked on us several times a day just to see if we needed anything. Anything at all. Not only was he incredibly accommodating, but his wife sent several things our way during our stay. Fresh baked muffins one day, a homemade cheesecake another, and homemade sausage the next. Keep your Ritz Carltons, my next trip will be right back here when there's snow on the ground with some more people as this house can accommodate many with all its bedrooms. As I finish my coffee there's little left to do other than leave a bottle of wine for David and Michelene and a tip for Tom and to say THANK YOU!!
