I grew up around the Reelfoot Lake area. Moved up north to work in the steel mills. After retiring, I moved back home.
Hobert (Hobie) Lawrence purchased this house in 1985
This property was available about the time of my retirement. It has a wonderful location and the fishing is great.
The best sunsets off of the deck. We have had many great times out on the deck with family and friends
My family and I stayed at Hobie's over the holiday week The house is centrally located & very accommodating. We enjoyed grilling outside and spending quality family time out on the huge deck. The daily sunsets were something out of a magazine. We have made reservations to return next year.
Lots of room and great location
I will answer the obvious question first and that is would we go back to this place that answer is yes. We stayed with 7 adults and 2 kids. In my opinion 6 or 7 people is the most optimum for this house. You have 3 bed rooms , 1 with 2 twin beds and 2 bedrooms with double beds. The advertised 4th bedroom is actually the living room with two twin beds. There are two additional twin beds in two different closets off of the family room. This is a great use of the space however it turned out to be too hot for one of us even sleep in there ended up sleeping on the couch no air circulation in the closets. The unit was clean as many other reviews had pointed out. Did not make much use of the kitchen, however it did appear there was ample number of pots and pans available if we had wanted to use them. Kitchen countertop space is limited. As far as the parking Arrangements they do not want you parking out in front of this unit so you have to park on either side of the house. Trying to back a boat trailer into either side of the house with a full size truck and a long (17ft aluminum bass boat) trailer can be difficult as road is very narrow and the close clearances (telephone poles and ditches across the street) lucky for us we had a couple small boats with small trailers got them close and handwheeled them all the way to the back of the property in order to fit all our vehicles in the correct parking areas. For the greatest aspects of this house is the rear deck area spanning from the house all the way to the lake. And as stated in the property description there is a ramp to pull two small boats up out of the water overnight. I was told that I could launch my boat there if the water was up that is incorrect there is no boat launch and no way to drive a trailer down to the lake side. The closest boat ramp is approximately 8 tenths of a mile to the east. This review is in no way meant to bash this place as I stated in the very beginning we would definitely stay here again. I just thought it would be nice to get out important basic information on the property. Would like to make a suggestion of place not to go Blue Bank restaurant. We called ahead to see what time they closed we were told 9 o'clock we get there a little bit after 8 in the staff at acted like we must have showed up at one minute till closing. Very rude service, slow on drink refills, never received the additional rolls that we asked for.
We had a wonderful stay! Thanks Hobie! What a cool place! We couldn't rent a boat this time as the lake was lowest, enjoyed the quiet. The wildlife viewing was amazing!
Hobie. I would like to thank you for a terrific place to stay, your rental is well worth the cost, more than enough room, also very clean plenty of extras, could not ask for a better place to stay on a hunting or fishing expedition, also was very suprised to find ice for coolers readily available in the rental, am looing forward to the next trip and hope your place will be available, any one that wants a great place and location to stay I highly recommend Hobies landing, thanks again,
Very clean with a great view if you love fishing I would definitely recommend this place
