This all-new 1300 sq ft guest house on 5 wooded acres, just over two miles from the University of Florida's Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, is highlighted by a 40 foot koi pond in the front, features a great room with 14 foot high ceiling, skylights, a balcony seating area that overlooks this room, and just outside the siding glass doors, a 500 sq. foot deck, and of course central air conditioning / heat , and cable wi-fi and television. If you enjoy space and light, this is the perfect setting for you.
Completely furnished, there are three couches that double as pull out sleepers, a 48-inch flat screen TV downstairs, and a 32" Tv upstairs, a dining table for 6, and of course, Wi-Fi.. There's also a complete, modern kitchen with all new stainless steel appliances, with everything you'd need to prepare and serve a meal, either inside, or outside on the grill.. A spiral staircase leads to the upstairs seating area which overlooks the great room from a 30 foot wide balcony ,and master bedroom with a full size bed. The second bedroom with a twin bed is located downstairs. The laundry room/bathroom is also downstairs.
Perfect for family reunions, or a weekend of football, when you're ready to get away from the crowd and just enjoy family and friends, this is can be your own private space, with plenty of room, where everyone can get together to enjoy the weather outside on the deck, or inside sitting around the dinning table.
Built with an emphasis on the common areas, which are very large, the bedrooms are small. It should also be noted that spiral staircases can be tricky to navigate, until you become accustomed to them, consequently, this setting may not be suitable for very active young children, who if careless could fall down the stairs. It should also be noted the despite the fact the the main area of the building has a 14 foot ceiling, the ceiling height of some of the other rooms is less than eight feet, which very tall individuals may find disconcerting. It should also be noted that the shower is very small.
We moved to Gainesville from south Florida in 1979 looking for a quieter community, to escape the craziness of South Florida. Soon after doing so, we started an alteration / tailoring business near UF which has since become a household name in Gainesville, called Ada's Clothes Repair which we continue to operate to this day.
Steven Shafer purchased this house in 1999
This property is a bit of a paradox in the sense that it's over five wooded acres almost in the center of Gainesville. It's totally unexpected and most Gainesville residents don't even know it's here. When they do discover it, most individuals find the space exhilarating, Here, at your doorstep, you have the quiet of the country, with all the conveniences of town..
It's like living in a park.
We drove down from Charleston for the game and get settled in with no problems. The property is secluded and away from the hustle and bustle of a game weekend. The location is perfect. Close to the stadium and all of the good restaurants. We averaged about $6 for each Uber trip into town. The property has plenty of room and the outside is great to just hang out. We will use this place again for sure.
Our family went to our first Gator’s game. We found Steven's rental on the Home-Away app. We were apprehensive never using the Home-Away app. We were so elated when we pulled up to the rental. It was a hidden gem in Gainesville. The rental was clean, bright comforting. The lofted living room and bed room made for plenty of room for our family of four. The most unexpected and appreciated part of this place was the deck and the back yard. It was an expansive tree lined, quite place where you just wanted to sit and soak in peacefulness. There is an iron-rod table with umbrella with a pristine gas grill. Whether it was morning coffee or evening night cap, the landscaping was beautiful and relaxing. It was a great location from the University, restaurants and stores for shopping. You would never know you were so close to all this without leaving the backyard. We would suggest this place for anyone wanting to spend time in the Gainesville area. A great gem in Gainesville.
This Guest House is just perfectly placed in the center of Gainesville! Yet it is like being out in the country! SO quiet! And the lawn & surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful! What a lovely place! The Guest House itself is decorated nicely & has very nice appliances & is very clean & well kept! Steven was wonderful in answering my several questions before my arrival and altho the owners live just steps away, they are perfectly non-intrusive and wonderfully polite! I used the Guest House as a "work get-away" for a couple of days. The large table and great internet worked well for me! As others have noted, I am not excited for the news of this place to get around - as it books up regularly! But I hope to be able to perhaps visit this Guest House in the future!
The rental was as described and the property was beautiful. I enjoyed the wild life.
This guest house is truly a hidden gem! Very well appointed with everything you need. Nice fresh linens. Super clean, absolutely gorgeous grounds. The overall vibe of the home is open and spacious. Will most certainly book this property again...if available!
