"Slice of Life" is a unique and completely renovated duplex/bungalow located on the 3rd row from the ocean. Walk out the door and past two houses to the beach access located at the end of the street. It's about a one minute walk to have sand between your toes.
This 2 bedroom/1 bath beach retreat is the south side of a duplex and an ideal getaway for couples and small families. The home is ground level so there are no stairs to climb. This is especially convenient for senior citizens and families with small children. The home was completely refurbished approximately three years ago. A few of the updates and additions include new ceramic tile floors throughout, a completely new kitchen and appliances, new bathroom fixtures, including a ceramic tile shower, a new central heat/air system, screened doors, an enclosed hot/cold outdoor shower, and a laundry.
Also check out the north side of this duplex (See VRBO Listing #681949).
***Full week rentals are from Sunday to Sunday.***

THIS IS A NON-SMOKING PROPERTY.
The property is also 3rd row to the Bogue Sound at the opposite end of the street from the beach. There is a public access there too, which is a good place to launch a kayak or just explore the sound.
A paved bike and walking path that spans the full length of Emerald Isle runs right beside Slice of Life.
The North Carolina Aquarium is located approximately 7 miles away and the Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier is approximately 5 miles away. In addition there are many other nearby activities. These include: Golf, Kayaking, Fishing, Shopping, Boating, Sightseeing, Miniature Golf, and a Movie Theater, to name a few.
Slice of Life is located in a residential/beach neighborhood. Emerald Isle is a family beach with no large crowds or nearby hotels.

We are NC natives and our family has been vacationing in Emerald Isle since we were children. We've got the inside scoop on all things Crystal Coast and glad to help you make the most of your visit!
West purchased this bungalow in 2011
Absolutely loved staying at Slice of Life South! My husband's family used to own a place on the beach at Emerald Isle so we used to visit yearly, but they sold it a few years back. This was our first time back as well as first time renting a place. Slice of Life was perfect! It's so close to the beach, takes maybe 2 minutes to saunter down the street. The decor is nice and beachy without being overkill. The layout is also excellent with lots of space to hang out in the living room (couch is super comfy!) but also you can pull out the dining room table. I can't speak for the second bedroom with the bunk bed, but the mattress in the main bedroom was really comfortable. The outdoor shower was so nice, I only showered out there. The clothes line in the back was great for drying out towels and swimsuits each day. It was also fantastic that the doors use the keycode lock, very convenient so you don't have to keep track of keys while on the beach! I would definitely stay at Slice of Life again and recommend it to friends and family. West (the owner) was SUPER communicative and reachable.
We enjoyed staying here very much. The bungalow was just perfect for 4 adults with all the amenities of home. The beach was just a short walk away and we all loved the outdoor shower with both hot and cold water. It made showering such a wonderful experience. The radio in the kitchen was an added treat set on a wonderful station with very few commercials. We will definitely stay again when we come to this area.
We had a wonderful experience at Emerald Isle. The property is beautiful inside and out and its very close to the beach, just a short walk. During our stay we had a issue with the A.C, but the property owner resolved the issue immediately. I would recommend staying at the property, in fact, our family is already planning a return stay.
I did notice a comment on another review about the water smelling like sulfur, it does, but if you run the hot water for about 30-45 minutes the smell goes away.
All-In-All the stay was exactly what we wanted and more :)
- Very close to the beach and sound
- Beach is not crowded at this location because there aren't many houses
- bed and furniture is comfortable
- tv and Internet are really good
- outdoor shower/deck
- code lock door
- hot water tank had not been used in a while and the water initially smelled really bad (sulfur smell) and we had to run all the water out of the tank to get rid of the smell. The smell filled the house.
- the breaker tripped in the bedroom/living room when I plugged in my cell phone charger because there are too many things on 1 circuit. Took forever to find the breaker box. It's in a kitchen cabinet.
- shower is small
