Always Enjoyable

  • 5 of 5

Another visit to VMI brought us to Misty Mountain Alpaca Farm. The owners Ralph and Sandra are always so pleasant. The scenery is beautiful. The alpacas are fun to watch and love to be fed carrots.

Access from the highway is very easy, yet it is away in the countryside where it is very quiet. The cottage is neat and clean. A really nice place to stay!.

If you're a VMI family this is perfect for a visit. So much better than staying in a hotel room. The opportunity to cook a meal for your cadet and BR's and just hang out on the deck and relax. 100% recommend!

Owner's Response: What a wonderful review especially since it rained most of the time during their visit. We always appreciate it when our guests are thoughtful in cleaning the dishes and stripping the beds. The Swensons were return guests and left us a "yummy" gift from the shore.

Beautiful, peaceful paradise with adorable alpacas in such a friendly little town!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect getaway for my husband and me with our two small children. We were so grateful to find a place that had rustic atmosphere, natural beauty, and no minimum age requirement for children. (Our kids LOVED the alpacas!! What amazing animals!) We had complete privacy and impeccable hospitality from Ralph & Sandra. Can’t say enough good things about this place. We absolutely plan to return!!

Owner's Response: What a lovely family to have as visitors to our farm. We so enjoyed the children and their fondness for our alpacas. And, what a treat to have home made pumpkin soup and chili...yum yum. Thank you. We hope to see them again soon! Ralph and Sandra

Alpaca hideaway

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful location and accommodation! Nothing is more serene than to be on a farm in the rolling hills of Virginia. Located near many schools, this is a great find. The accommodations were great, clean, fresh, and comfortable. The hosts were fabulous and went out of their way to make us feel at home. We will be returning many times in the future!

A serene place with an Alpaca twist

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I very much enjoyed our stay. Ralph and Sandra were extremely nice and shared their stories about their extended Alpaca family. The Alpacas are amazing animals and we truly enjoyed spending time with them and discovering their very interesting behaviors. If you are planning to come, bring carrots and you will be welcomed by these unique creatures.

Great relaxing place!

Robert

Beautiful Views, Peaceful Setting - Easy Drive To VMI

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cottage for Change of Command/Graduation weekend at VMI. It is quick access to Route 81/64 (yet you do not hear/see highway!) at exit 205. Easy, quick drive to Lexington.

What views! Rolling hills, neighboring winery, fields and fields of farmland. Such a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. This is a functioning alpaca farm. As soon as you enter through the gate, the alpacas run along the fence line to see who is coming. Very inquisitive, gentle animals.

The Hosts are so very friendly. They truly enjoy sharing their property with guests. They greeted us upon arrival, showed us around the property and cottage, gave some information on alpacas, etc. They offered additional seating for the deck when they knew we had friends and cadets coming for dinner.

The cottage is well equipped in the kitchen and bathroom. Everything was so bright, open and very clean. So peaceful in the morning to have coffee on the deck listening to birds, looking out over the farmland and mountains. Was perfect to go back to the property, cook a full meal for our cadet and friends, relax on the deck, play bocce ball and enjoy gorgeous sunset!!

For VMI families I highly recommend this rental. Relaxing with family, cadet and friends in a house setting is 1000 times better than a hotel room!!

Owner's Response: What a wonderful review for our lodging and us! We have to return the favor by saying that you were great guests to have at our farm. I was delighted to see how well you all had taken care of the apartment while you were here. The towels and sheets were set aside so it was easy to begin the washing after your departure. The kitchen was clean, the dishes washed and goodies left for us...especially the wine. Thank you again for the wonderful words. Our Warm Regards, Ralph and Sandra
