About Sandra Gesang

My husband and I transferred to the Northwest from the East Coast in the 1980s and have loved living here ever since. Our labradoodle, Chester, loves the cabin, the river, and hiking. His favorite part of the cabin is the staircase!

Sandra Gesang purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Sandra Gesang chose Mount Rainier

We are a family that loves to ski, hike, camp, kayak...and travel! At our cabin in Packwood all these activities are right outside our door. Our dog, Chester, loves the woods and the water, and watching the elk lumber by the cabin.

What draws us to Packwood, in addition to the recreation, is the peacefulness and friendly people. One of our favorite spots in town is the Butter Butte Coffee Co. coffee house. It is named after Butter Butte in the Tatoosh Mountain Range, which can be seen, in full display, from our cabin's huge kitchen window. Our favorite place for burgers is the Cliff Droppers Restaurant in Packwood. A great choice for finer dining is the Copper Creek Inn in Ashford (30 minutes away when Skate Creek Rd. is open).

There are just so many great things to do in the Packwood area. For out-of-towners it gives you easy access to Mount Rainier National Park (20 minutes, in season), White Pass (20 minutes), and even a drive down to Mount Saint Helens Volcanic Monument is just over 2 hours (which makes a great day trip).

What makes this cabin unique

We love the natural pine interior of our cabin, and the extraordinary custom stairway to the loft! Also the fact that it is a 4 minute walk to the Cowlitz River, 20 minutes to White Pass Ski Area, and 20 minutes to Mt. Rainier park entrance. The local Tatoosh Mountain Range offers plenty of hiking for us, as well. There is also a river, and several lakes, just minutes away, large and small, where we can be kayaking in minutes.

In addition to the natural recreation there is the high valley country club access to golf, swim, tennis, for our friends and guests.

A other special features of our cabin are the high speed wifi and cable TV.

Lovely cabin near Mt. Rainier

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were looking for a place to stay while we vacationed throughout Mt. Rainier National Park. This cabin was perfect. It was so charming, we loved all the woodwork. It was stocked with everything we needed, from soap to dishes, etc. And it was within a short driving distance to the main town with restaurants and cafes, as well as Mt. Rainier.

Cute cabin in perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect for me and my best friend and our 3 kids! So close to Mt. Rainier National Park, easy access to the park entrance and hiking trails. We packed our groceries in and the cabin had everything we needed to prepare our meals from cooking utensils, BBQ, pots and pans, coffeemaker, to spices and random items left from previous occupants. The cabin was super clean and had very comfortable furniture and beds. We even enjoyed the fire pit out back to roast marshmallows one night! The owner Sandy was very responsive to email questions as well as a call I made to her while staying there. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!
