Explore the Finger Lakes' natural scenery, hiking trails and gorges, wineries, breweries and historic attractions from this newly-renovated Main Street apartment. There is a king bed, full bathroom, a seating area for four, and an open-plan kitchen with marble countertops and counter seating for three.
Original 19th-century pine floors have been restored throughout the apartment. Three arched, insulated glass windows overlook the historic Main Street. The apartments are located above a highly-rated specialty coffee bar.
The Wright family has roots in the Penn Yan area dating back to the early 1800s. We have owned a cottage on Keuka Lake since the 1950s, and it has been a center of gravity for our family for years even as many of us have moved to distant cities throughout the U.S. As our family has grown we have created additional living space in close proximity to the lake. This space allows us to continue to spend time comfortably together each year on Keuka Lake. We're delighted to share this vacation home with others.
Chris Wright purchased this apartment in 2013
On the northern shore of Keuka Lake, Penn Yan is an historic Finger Lakes village in the early stages of a renaissance. Sheridan House is one or two blocks from several new attractions including a wine bar, brew pub, vintage candy store, art gallery and crossfit gym. These complement nearby establishments such as the Penn Yan Diner and Morgan's Grocery.
First constructed in the 1870's, the property was operated by John Sheridan as the Sheridan House Hotel. During the 20th century various retail businesses occupied the first floor with residential tenants occupying the second floor. By the 21st century the building had undergone many interior changes and had endured a fair amount of neglect. In 2014-2015 we executed a major interior and exterior renovation of the building and resurrected the Sheridan House name. We hope our guests enjoy the result as much as we do.
The host was great and the place was amazing!
My sister and I landed at this stylish studio for a girls getaway weekend. The apartment was everything we'd hoped it would be: well appointed, clean, close to everything we wanted to see and do, and quite a lovely place to escape to. Chris thought of everything in preparing a rental spot for Finger Lakes travelers. We had a blast browsing antique stores and gift shops, exploring the The Windmill, being wowed by Watkins Glen Gorge, and taking in the majesty of Keuka Lake at Bully Hill Winery and Dr. Frank's. If you're planning a trip to the area, you won't be disappointed!
The accommodations were exceptional. The decor was contemporary and tasteful... Excellent Climate control.... great light and lighting....... all around comfortable setting... Chris is a professional and conscientious business man with a beautiful property.
Pictures do not do this place justice. From the extra high ceilings and wide moldings to the remodeled wavy glass windows and tasteful furniture, this place is gorgeous. Ammentities within the apartment are also luxury.. From linens, to a memory foam bed topper, to a touch screen Keurig with Pods and a good quality bottle of wine complimentary to our stay, we felt welcomed & at home. Our party of 6 rented both the studio and 2 bedroom for our weekend lake getaway. Chris was wonderful to work with via email correspondence. He met us to give us keys and was just as nice in person. Can not recommend this place enough. I stayed in the studio & woke up the the click/clack of horse and buggy going to church down Main Street Penn Yann. Very quaint town sandwiched between lake Keuka and Seneca. Plenty of cute breakfast places in the area.
Your first impression on walking into the studio is refinement and an attention to detail. The furnishings and decorating style is elegant but comfortable, with beautiful finishes. The full kitchen has a Keurig machine stocked with a selection of K-cups, and there's plenty of room for entertaining a few guests in the adjoining living room area. The bed is so comfortable that I made myself a cup of coffee and got right back in it! The bathroom is also a wonderful retreat, with beautiful towels and incredible products in the shower and on the vanity. The owner has even installed a combination lock on the front door, pre-programmed with my own personal code so I didn't even need to carry a key!
Thanks for a fabulous stay. I will certainly return.
My wife and I were passing through the finger lake region for a night and stayed in this beautiful efficiency apartment. We cannot say enough about it -- it is perfect. Everything in the apartment looks brand new and is clearly well cared for. The entire place was ridiculously clean, including the kitchen and bath. It was stocked with high end supplies like bath soap, shampoo and conditioner, bottled water, and even a complimentary bottle of (really good) local wine.
The apartment is plenty spacious for two people.
And the most important part....the bed! The king-sized bed fits perfectly in the space and is incredibly comfortable.
The owner was wonderful as well. He was very easy to deal with on VRBO and was readily accessible when we had questions about the apartment and local attractions. He recommended a lovely wine bar just down the street for dinner that was great.
Highly recommend both the apartment and the owner. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely stay here.
