About Chris Wright

The Wright family has roots in the Penn Yan area dating back to the early 1800s. We have owned a cottage on Keuka Lake since the 1950s, and it has been a center of gravity for our family for years even as many of us have moved to distant cities throughout the U.S. As our family has grown we have created additional living space in close proximity to the lake. This space allows us to continue to spend time comfortably together each year on Keuka Lake. We're delighted to share this vacation home with others.

Chris Wright purchased this apartment in 2013

Why Chris Wright chose Keuka Lake

On the northern shore of Keuka Lake, Penn Yan is an historic Finger Lakes village in the early stages of a renaissance. Sheridan House is one or two blocks from several new attractions including a wine bar, brew pub, vintage candy store, art gallery and crossfit gym. These complement nearby establishments such as the Penn Yan Diner and Morgan's Grocery.

What makes this apartment unique

First constructed in the 1870's, the property was operated by John Sheridan as the Sheridan House Hotel. During the 20th century various retail businesses occupied the first floor with residential tenants occupying the second floor. By the 21st century the building had undergone many interior changes and had endured a fair amount of neglect. In 2014-2015 we executed a major interior and exterior renovation of the building and resurrected the Sheridan House name. We hope our guests enjoy the result as much as we do.

Clean, updated, well decorated.

My wife and I took a weekend to Penn Yan to celebrate our birthdays. This studio is right in the middle of downtown, easy walking distance to many of Penn Yan's restaurants and bars. Also close by is the outlet trail for walking or biking. The apartment was clean, easy to access, recently remodeled. Has a nice view of the Main Street. There's a cute boutique coffee bar right downstairs where we enjoyed a flight of coffee on our first morning there. Overall, would highly recommend and would visit this apartment again!

Wonderful Studio Apartment, Wonderful Location, Great Place to Kickoff Finger Lake Winery Tours

  • 5 of 5

First off, this is a beautiful studio apartment with all the necessities one needs from kitchen supplies, towels, etc.. The studio apartment is impeccably furnished. The bed was extremely comfortable! And the location is fantastic. If you're planning on visiting the Finger Lake area, one thing we can tell you is this. Large towns and hence restaurants, gas stations, etc. are very far apart. In Penn Yan, there are three excellent breakfast places (Penn Yan Diner, Wagner's and Angel's) within 600 feet of this studio apartment and the Keuka Restaurant for dinner is across the street from this studio apartment. There are also a Walgreen's and Sunoco gas station about a block away. Penn Yan is a very cute town and the friendliest people around. While we did not have the pleasure of meeting the owner Chris in person, if you any questions about your stay, Chris responds uber quickly ... like in 15 minutes. Which we greatly appreciated! Parking behind the building is plentiful. And while this unit does not have a washer/dryer, there is a laundromat steps from the door. Next time we visit the Finger Lakes area, we would not hesitate to rent this studio apartment again, we enjoyed our stay and experience that much. Thanks again Chris! Great property!

Do not hesitate to stay here! The BEST!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I celebrated a long anniversary weekend in this beautifully appointed, comfortable, all new studio apartment. Our bed and bedding was supremely comfortable, the kitchen was stocked with everything we could need, including coffee k pacs, wine glasses, cutlery. The towels were thick and thirsty. We were within a short drive to the 9 wineries and 4 breweries we visited. All great. Short walk to wine bar, restaurants and 2 minute drive to beautiful walking or biking trail with waterfalls and bridges. The town is delightful, the people are amazingly friendly, and Chris (who we rented from) was kind, attentive, HELPFUL and warm. There is also a beautiful new specialty coffee bar right below us that even serves local wine and beer! So lovely to see the horse and buggies quietly travel up this small town's streets! If you're on the fence, do not hesitate! I want to do the whole weekend over again without changing a thing! Absolutely stunning rural area and extraordinarily picturesque. More space than a room in an inn or B and B!

We rented from Chris who could not be more genuine, accommodating and helpful.

  • 5 of 5

The property is beautiful. Newly refurbished, most comfy bed we ever slept in, kitchen with everything we would need, tons of storage so clothes and toiletries are tucked away, leaving this amazing studio looking modern and uncluttered. It was a very convenient location to either walk to wine bar, short drive to wineries, breweries, restaurants. Great hiking trail within a minute drive with waterfalls and bridges. Everyone we met on a short visit was incredibly friendly and warm. The wines and beer in this area are fantastic. Different than the ones we had in Napa, but in a good, eye opening way. Did I mention the specialty coffee bar downstairs, which is also new has great coffee, muffins and even sells local beer and wine. Very inviting, clean space. We can't wait to go back and rent the same space. If you're on the fence, don't hesitate. We almost stayed at an inn, which was quite a bit more expensive with less living space and less privacy. Chris is a great person to rent from!

Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

We went up to the Finger Lakes for a few nights to get away from it all. The place was spotless and was centrally located to a lot of things to do. I recommend it as a place to stay to anyone looking for a perfect time. Great diner, wine bar and small coffee shop all within walking distance. Book now and you won't regret it! Thank you for the great accommodations, Chris.
