Overview

About the property

282: Tiny House, Heart Of Missoula

A few years ago, we built a tiny house in Missoula, Montana. We call it 282 because the space is 282 square feet of bright, clean, open space. Our family of four lived in 282 for two years and we found tiny living quite comfortable. We have since moved into the main residence on the property and want to share our tiny living experience with others who are visiting our lovely mountain town. Recently updated, 282 offers one queen-sized bed and one pull-out, full-sized bed perfect for children. The space can accomodate four people (two adults and two children, for example) or two adults quite comfortably. 282 is a studio with a full kitchen (stove, fridge, sink, etc.) and one bathroom with a sink, toilet and shower. It is completely stocked with dishes, pots, pans, a coffee maker and towels. It has a kitchen table and french doors that open onto a small patio. The house is seperated from the main residence by a privacy fence and has its own entrance but you are welcome to hang out in the backyard by the garden beds.

282 is a ten-minute walk to downtown Missoula, a ten-minute bike ride (20-minute walk) to the University of Montana and is nestled in Missoula's eclectic Northside neighborhood. Full of artists, writers and filmmakers, the Northside has a brewery, an art's center and, in summer, an outdoor cinema. It's a short bike ride to Greenough Park, the Rattlesnake trailhead and the Clark Fork River.

We have public transportation a few blocks away and our close-in location allows you to walk downtown.

We live onsite and are happy to help answer any questions about swimming holes, restaurants serving local food or where to find the best latte in town.

About Jennifer Savage

My husband and I moved to Missoula 14 years ago for a one-year job in a van packed with books. We never left. We've lived on a farm surrounded by fallen down fences where we had our two daughters. We've lived in the heart of Missoula in a tiny house with our daughters, two dogs and a wayward bunny. After two amazing years of living tiny, we've moved out of our 282 square-foot house and want to share it. We love our town, our community and our home. We hope you will too.

Jennifer Savage purchased this house in 2009

Sweet, cozy, and quiet!

This Tiny House isn't really that tiny! And it's so tastefully decorated. 282 Tiny House gave me a cozy, private, quiet spot to hang out (even my own patio) while I was in Missoula visiting a niece. I'd go back again!

This was a perfect price & size for our family of 4! (2 adults, 4year old, 5 month old) The home was very clean and we felt safe there. We will definitely stay again.

Clean, lovely, quiet place close to the heart of Missoula

  • 5 of 5

Jennifer was very kind! 282 was well lit, lovely, very clean, and ready for us when we arrived. The kitchen is clean and stocked, and the bed was comfortable! Just the right size heater, and the shower was great. Everything is able to be as private (blinds) or as open as you desire - and access through the back alley was super convenient. LOVED the skylights.

This is a great place, and felt very comfortable. Perfect for a getaway for us, and would be my preference over a hotel room if you're travelling through.

One thing! Make sure, when you shower, that you have situated the curtain, otherwise you will flood the bathroom (like we did!). That was our bad, we didn't realize, and left part of it a bit open. (Sorry for the extra laundry, Jennifer!)

Kitchen is well appointed for coffee, tea, and a light breakfast. The stove works great, and dishes/glasses/teacups for four. The table is perfect for doing artwork or working on a computer, and I really want to steal her tiny couch!!

Very comfortable overall, and we will look for this place when we need a getaway in future. :)

Very cozy and clean! We stayed with our two kids and we all had plenty of room and enjoyed our stay very much! Great location and it had everything we needed. Love the rock climbing wall outside and the owners are very nice too!

Great space that's reasonbly priced.

  • 5 of 5

The space worked great for my wife and I while visiting our son, who is studying at the University of Montana. It has good light, with good kitchen space, and a nice bathroom. Thank you Seth and Jenn!
