About the property

Note: While this property has a five night minimum, we often have intervals between reservations which are less than five nights. If interested in one of these shorter intervals, just send an inquiry utilizing dates which are availalbe and I will send a special quote for the shorter stay. Thanks!

This beautiful home is nestled in the heart of the Ouachita National Forest. 20 minutes from Lake Ouachita, 5 minutes from biking, floating, hiking, hunting and fishing in the back yard.

The property is an outdoors person's dream. The home is in a working cattle farm which lies in a valley surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest and Muddy Creek Wildlife Management Area. Deer and small game are prevalent on the farm, with the occasional black bear on the property. Hunting, fishing, hiking, biking and boating are all within five minutes, and Lake Ouachita is only twenty minutes away. Fishing is only seconds away, as the 8 acre pond in the backyard is stocked with bass, crappie, bluegills and catfish. Guests have the run of the entire home, pool and spa, as well as the opportunity to fish in the large pond.

Kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans, bakeware and utensils, as well as sporting a 48" Viking Range with grill. This up-to-date kitchen lets you prepare meals as if you were in your own home. All bathrooms are stocked with towels, and linens are provided. Three bedrooms have king beds and three have queens. Four bedrooms have their own bathroom.

The heart pine flooring throughout the home was salvaged from two local 1800's barns, all lumber in the home (except for trusses) was milled from pine timber on the farm, and the stone for the foundation and the chimney also is from the farm.

The living area offers a recliner and sectional leather sofa, a flat screen 50" tv with DirecTV and plenty of room for relaxing or entertaining.

This property is located in Montgomery County, Arkansas, which is one of the least populated counties in the state and is 82% National Forest. The scenic Ouachita River is less than five minutes away, offering fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking; call Ric Sharp at M&M Canoe and Kayaks for rental and shuttle service. Approximately 20 minutes away is Lake Ouachita, which is virtually surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest and has some 970 miles of Arkansas's most pristine shorelines. Boats, party barges and houseboats may be rented at a number of Marinas around the lake.

For hikers and bikers, the Ouachita Trail and Womble Trail (both of which are designated as International Mountain Biking Association Epic Trails) are within five minutes of the property, and Lake Ouachita Vista Trail is approximately twenty minutes away.

Montgomery County is also a hunter's paradise, with 82% of the county's 800 square miles comprised of the Ouachita National Forest and Muddy Creek Wildlife Management Area. Hunting opportunities include small game, deer, turkey and black bear.

Amazing place, even better value.

  • 5 of 5

Honestly, this home is simply without fault. Big enough to bring all of your friends and nice enough to never want to leave.

Tranquil, beautiful, quiet stay

  • 5 of 5

We went with our family of 6 in March and the weather was perfect! The house is beautiful and clean. It has everything to make for a wonderful stay. It is on a cattle ranch and there is a cattle fence around the house so you can see and hear the cattle but you aren't stepping in anything. We watched the stars at night while sitting in the hot tub. We fished in the pond out back of the house. There was a canoe and John boat as well so we boated and fished. It was very quiet and peaceful. There is a screened in porch to just sit and watch if we desired. There were 6 bedrooms of which 4 have attached bathrooms. The rooms were large and the bathrooms all updated and beautiful. There is wi-fi and television. The surrounding area has so many outdoor activities. There is hiking and canoeing and about an hour away, there is diamond hunting. Closer in, there are tons of places that you can hunt for crystals. I would highly recommend the stay. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will return again.

Great way to spend the holidays

  • 5 of 5

My family really enjoyed our stay. It was a great place to enjoy the holidays and there was plenty of space for everyone. We had extended family visit during the day (totally 15 people) and no one ever felt like we were tripping over each other and we didn't have to fight over seating arrangements. My family really hopes that the next time we are in the area, we are able to stay here again!

Enjoy the great outdoors. Beautiful property.

  • 5 of 5

This home has lots of space for a large gathering with a pool and hot tub too. But the best thing is the beautiful land to explore and enjoy. The pond has lots of fish and it is relaxing to watch the sunset behind the pond and watch the cattle graze. Or sit on the porches and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Serene, peaceful and an experience you won't quit talking about anytime soon.

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a place you'll talk about for years, a place that etches its memory in your mind forever, or a place that provides such sights for sore eyes that every morning you can't wait to wake up, then book here and do it now. Beautiful, peaceful views from every window, every door, every porch and deck, from sitting by the pond fishing to walking up the long paved driveway under the canopy of trees toward the mountainous views, this is the place where you reconnect with each other and nature. The early morning sounds of God's creatures, His sunrise, His sunsets....make this place worth every dime.

With huge bedrooms, private ensuites, a large kitchen that can accommodate more than one cook, a stocked library with interesting reads, this home leaves nothing to the imagination. A well thought out floorplan with plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed board games every night at the large family-friendly table, grilling on the deck by the pool, fishing every morning, front and back porch sitting at night and hunkering down amidst the ones we love the most in a setting straight out of a tourist magazine. Do yourself a favor and book a couple of nights here. You won't regret it.

Hot springs is a pretty and easy drive (about an hour) with plenty of gorgeous sightseeing along the way.

You won't regret your trip. We're still talking about this place. We had a great time!! Oh, Uncle Ed is a treat! We looked forward to his visits. From one guest to another, we wish you the same soul-pleasing experience we had. Safe travels Friend.

Sweet Retreat!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our favorite VRBO stay yet! The property is amazing - starting with the tree lined drive that then opened up to the "Post Card" like view. The house was very spacious and had more than enough room for our three generational family of ten. The open floor plan and abundance of seating allowed the entire family to sit together for dinners and visiting. Although the kids would say it was the Pool, many of the adults voted hands down the opportunity to roam the Entire Property was the real treat!!! The paddle and john boat were a pleasant surprise and everyone enjoyed taking turns going out on the serene pond to either fish or just enjoy. Having toddler's and kids in our group the shaded breeze way and screened porch was a hit for them to stretch out and play. We quickly learned the grazing pattern of the cows and especially enjoyed watching them go down to the pond in the evening to drink. Coming from a suburb of Houston this property was truly the laid back Country Feeling experience we were looking for!!! Yet, it was so easy to get to everything (Hot Springs - shopping, Crater of Diamonds, boating at Lake Ouachita and even the grocery store). It was however voted, hands-down by all - to stay right at the property every chance we got! .....P.S. The kids told us we had to put something in about the COOL (movie- butter quality) popcorn machine in the kitchen that we took advantage of EVERYNIGHT!!! Would love to come back for a trip during the Fall.....can't imagine how beautiful the changing leaf colors would be.
