About Bonnie Phipard

My family and I have been coming to this sweet little island for over 40 years.. Since 2001, I've owned property on Chincoteague.

Our other larger condo on Chincoteague is at Sunset Bay Villas, VRBO #171465.

Life is precious, so make time for island time.

Chincoteague Island has a special magic about it!

Bonnie Phipard purchased this condo in 2015

Why Bonnie Phipard chose Eastern Shore Virginia

Channel View is on the 2nd floor of a small, older place with 10 condos, but I must say that the view is one of the best on the island! The condo is all fresh and new and has a relaxed, comfortable feel. It has new walls, flooring, carpet, new kitchen, bath and new bedding. Wireless Internet, house phone and cable TV.

I've sailed all over the Chesapeake with my husband and sons and I'm still drawn to the ocean and the bay. Chincoteague is a wonderful, magical island, with wild ponies, lots of wildlife, a healthy ecosystem and fresh local seafood.

Bring your boat or your kayak and your fishing rods too! Read a book, enjoy your morning coffee or an evening glass of vino on the balcony ... no rush, just do what you feel like doing ... you're on Island Time!

What makes this condo unique

Panoramic views, magnificent sunrise and sunset sky, watch the annual pony swim from the balcony, enjoy dolphins playing, birds migrating, kayak right off the floating dock, tie up your boat in a nice slip, fish and crab off the dock and stay in an all new, just remodeled condo!

Our beach chairs and umbrella are there for you too!

Well stocked kitchen, books, games and DVD's.

Binoculars for wildlife watching.

A great condo with a knockout view.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for the New Year's celebration. It is an easy place to get to, very quiet, clean, well equipped and a good value. Chincoteague is a tourist town but we were here off season, so it wasn't jumping. There is plenty to do, but the diamond is this condo's view. I counted up to 18 ponies grazing across the channel in the marsh grass. Loons, buffleheads, egrets, herons, mallards, grebes, snow geese, northern shovelers to name a few were either in the wildlife refuge or paddling by outside our sliding glass door to the condo. The unit's heating system kept the place toasty. While we went to restaurants and didn't cook here, the kitchen is well equipped. The condo is on the second floor so be prepared to use the stairwell, which was no problem. The outside premises were in good shape with a nice dock where the diving birds gathered. The owner was easy to get hold of, but aside from our initial arrival, we did not contact her. My wife and I wonder why some people need to get on a jet and fly far away to vacation when this condo has it all in a great location.

What an absolutely wonderful place with an incredible waterfront view

  • 5 of 5

Thanks Bonnie for allowing us to stay at your condo from July 1st through July 8th. My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful time during our stay. It was the perfect location with the most wonderful waterfront view. You went out of your way to ensure guests will have a great stay. The unit is very clean and nicely furnished. It has a quiet, efficient AC system and is more than adequately equipped to cook the seafood that we caught during our stay. Even the bed was most comfortable.

While we were there, we had the opportunity to go on a few local trips. We went on boat trips to view the island and wildlife up close and excursions for fishing, crabbing and clamming. In all, we caught 2 dozen Kingfish, a dozen crabs and nearly 3 dozen clams. We had a really great time.

The hidden gems are the pier and the shared back deck. It was fun to use the pier to go fishing and crabbing, or just putting your feet in the water and watching the boats and ponies all while using your crab trap to catch dinner. The deck was quite enjoyable to eat breakfast at the picnic table watching the sunrise and sunset or just relaxing with our favorite beverages while viewing delightful evening settings with the moon lighting the water and the shining beams of the Assateague lighthouse. We should have scheduled a longer stay, but the week we were there was absolutely wonderful!

Your place is definitely the best value when considering a comfortable, fully furnished location with an incredible waterfront view, a completely equipped kitchen, the use of a pier and a deck for eating and relaxing. Thank you once again. We will be back during the fall.

Ken & Virginia S.

The view... the view... the view!

  • 5 of 5

Sunrises, ponies across the channel EVERY day, the fishing/crabbing/shellfish action on the water plus the turns and gulls laughing at us; time spent at ChannelView condo was the highlight of our trip. We did quite a lot of "touristing" in and around Chincoteague and it was excellent, but heading back to our 'homebase' was no letdown.

Bonnie has done a great job with furnishings (even though it was the deck and the outdoor sights that really mattered) and the well-stocked kitchen allowed us to cook and eat in without sacrificing vacay-time.

We'll be back... but not as often as we'd like!

Perfect location and responsive owner

  • 5 of 5

We saw ponies every morning across the water, and other wildlife, crabbed off the pier daily, and our fishing charter was just steps away. The unit was very clean, functional, comfortable, spacious for a family of four, and the owner, Bonnie, provided great area information and always responded quickly via email and/or text. Having wifi in the unit was convenient, although it did not appear to have the bandwidth to support streaming or similar demanding usage (that wasn't a necessity, for us). Overall, we would definitely stay here, again!

Clean and tidy condo. with a great view

  • 3 of 5

This was a spur of the moment trip for us to Chincoteague as we had never visited and it was our kid's spring break. Found this condo and went ahead and booked it. Am sure this was my own oversight but realized upon booking confirmation that we had to provide our own linens and towels; bummer. It really took away from the feeling of getting away on a vacation for me, but I understand. It is important to read the fine print on these rentals! That said, it turned out to be a lovely condo that was very clean and well cared for. Views off of the porch are stunning and my husband who is a bird-watcher saw a lot of great species. Saw ponies right off of our deck. Beds were comfy and kitchen well stocked, except there was no sponge for doing dishes. Easily fixed. Back porch is a great spot but if any other renters are there you are sharing the porch with them side by side; this would be a deal breaker for me in the future; no privacy. Luckily we were the only tenants in the building!

Touristed the island and spent a day at the seashore in the park, caught crabs off of the channel in a crab pot that was provided by the rental, ate local oysters and Smith Island Cake that was delicious! Otherwise it is quite austere here in the winter months so you really need to enjoy nature more than retail if you are heading this way. Weather turned rainy and terribly windy so we headed to some of the nearby towns of Accomac and Onancok where we enjoyed a yummy dinner at "Mallards" restaurant. Found the merchants in Cincoteague to be somewhat stiff and cool except for the sub and pizza place where the ladies really took care of us! An interesting place that I am glad that I saw, but not sure I would do it again; at this time of the year it's a bit too deserted and i can see in the summer it is choked with people.
