GREAT CABIN!!!!

  • 4 of 5

This place is better than it looks in pictures! Eileen takes great care of her visitors and the space and the ambiance too! One thing I would have appreciated is knowing the bachelor party next door was planning to shoot clay pigeons in the morning Saturday, but to be honest the guys came over and discussed it with us and were very fun. They took us on boat outings and shared their campfire wood, etc. They shot quickly and were done. The neighbors on the other side have loud music too. Those things should be kept in mind for future visitors (though not everyone is going to shoot clay pigeons on Saturday mornings!)

The experience is worth it. The view from the deck - the very comfortable furnishings - the beautiful bathrooms - the view - the deer feeding stand - the lake - GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!!

Very disappointing stay.

  • 2 of 5

We have stayed in quite a few other VRBO's and this was our first negative experience. Our first impression was that the property was dark. There were 15 light bulbs burned out (I counted them) - the kitchen area was so dark we had to go back into town to purchase light bulbs in order to see to cook. There were no towel racks in the bathroom. No propane so we could not use the outdoor grill. One bedroom had no bulbs in the fixture and the screen was in poor condition. There were remnants of former docks and junk at the lakeside - things has just been thrown into the weeds and left to decay. The final topper was that we had no power for about 12 hours. Apparently the owner had not paid the bill and the electric company shut off the power. While the power was off the alarm system went off and we had to call to get the code to silence it. The power was off long enough that the freezer thawed and we had to throw out food. Power was finally restored when the electric company guy made a house call at about 10:30 pm. He said the company had sent out multiple notices before cutting off the power.

On the positive side the cabin was very roomy and the grounds were nice. A nice touch was that the bird feeders had been filled and were visited by lots of birds.

Owner's Response: Brenda, I appreciate you taking the time to submit a review but any past guests have not made issues like this. I realize I cannot please every guest but I do try and this being my first negative response I will attempt to deal with it. I was and am happy to give advice and answer any questions that may come up. You and I had such great chats and a problem was NEVER mentioned to me anytime. You arrived early in the day of which I gave you extra time and the cabin's windows provide a lot of light. Nothing was replaced I do not even have 15 light connections and most of my lights are to high and were working. I am sorry for any lighting in the house you were not pleased with. You could have communicated about this and one of my helpers would have showed up to fix whatever needed to be fixed. All you had to do in one bedroom was pull a chain on the ceiling fan and all the lights come on or use the wall switch. I do have three level towel racks in both bathrooms behind the door. I do not supply wood or propane and it is POSTED on my site of which they were told. Again an apology for the lights in my area going off. It was a glitch with the electricity in the area including my neighbors for just an hour or so.. Brenda and the security people called at 9 p.m. ( guests were gone all day ) to say there was a light problem and it was fixed just a bit over an hr. As for me paying my bills and you insinuating this was the problem, I pay my bills on time to keep everything running for my guests. Also NO repairman is going to bad mouth a paying customer to anyone and does not deal with billing (I checked.) My alarm system was not going off all day because I had not been called by the security people to tell me there was a problem. It went off around 9 p.m. and they called me and I let Brenda know the code and she laughed and said they were at the fire pit and would turn it off later because it was not bothering them. I didn't know that things can melt that fast in my cold freezer but if it did I apologize. The furniture had been moved around and never put back which other guests have always done. A new dock is being put in so there are new dock pieces that does not interfere with anyone walking. I have no junk, etc. at the dock. All my guests always enjoy the dock, rent boats, bring boats, etc. swim and sit on the dock chair. I hope you got to enjoy that too. Thank you for the nice comments you did write.

This cabin offers much more than advertised!! Very clean and spacious, the best stocked kitchen...it had everything we needed and more - you literally just need to bring yourself and the food you want to cook. The owner is amazing, very accommodating and takes excellent care of the property. The lake is beautiful and very clear water. We couldn't have picked a better cabin and location to end our summer!! Private and peaceful, but within a 5 minute drive to the local store that offers anything you need. We are already planning our next stay...We will definitely be going back!!!

Clean and spacious

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is much bigger than it looks in the picture, good for two families. The cabin is very clean and the furniture and appliances new. The cabin is very private and has a nice view of the lake. The lake is clean and there is a nice sandy beach area at the boat landing not far away.

We had great time. Owner of the property is really friendly. Lots of rental companies around to rent boats and they will deliver to this property. If you want to take a vacation and get away from all the headaches of the city life this is a perfect place to go. Peaceful fresh and fun for family. It has private dunking private playground just perfect for someone who's trying to get away from civilization.
