Great price in a good location

  • 3 of 5

The apartment was in a good location if you can get familiar with bus routes. A bit to far to walk to metro station, but bus close by takes you there. Marketing is also better by bus to Safeway or Trader Joe's. The apt was as listed , but very basic. Compared to all other places we have rented, it was bare bones--not even a travel size shampoo to start you until you went to market. Has an oven, but not one oven pan or cookie sheet or piece of foil to use in it. Searched several stores to find a disposable foil pan to use .Salt and pepper is it. No oil, coffee, coffee filters. Most rental places we have experienced have basic cooking spices, some foil, plastic bags and at least small sizes of bathroom shower soap and shampoo. We had a 6 yr old with us and we were concerned that the bath and bedroom doors, when locked from inside ,have no way to open them. We ended up taping the locks so they could not lock. The neighborhood was very nice and felt very safe. We would rent there again, now knowing what essentials to bring. Entry was easy,, not having to connect at a set time with someone to let you in. No luggage storage could be a problem if you arrive before 3 pm check in time.

Decent location - terrible parking

  • 4 of 5

The location and home is nice. Lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Parking options are limited and we ended up parking in a parking garage about 6 blocks away ($20 per night and the spots are incredibly small, especially for a bigger SUV/truck). We lucked out and had a larger vehicle leave and there were 2 spots available to squeeze our vehicle into one of them. We had to walk about 20 minutes to Dupont Circle to catch the metro to head down to the National Mall and sites, so more walking on top of the walking you will do with your sightseeing, which isn't too bad except at the end of the day when you are tired. Home was clean and nice and seemed safe and was fairly quiet for being in the city. Only recommendation to the hosts would be to improve the cooking utensils. There were no baking sheets or pans suitable for the oven. Would recommend the location to families as there was plenty of room for my wife and I and our two sons (16 and 13). Enjoyed our stay! Parking issues and extra walking keeps it from being a 5 star.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is located very conveniently. Dupont Circle subway station is within a short walk. There is a huge number and variety of different restaurants. Safeway and Trader Joe's are within a short walk as well. The apartment was clean, beds were very comfortable, and central AC was very handy. Maps of the subway system were provided with the welcome package, and we found them very helpful.

Great fit for a family

  • 5 of 5

We had a clean, spacious apartment with all the amenities we needed for our family of five. It's in a quiet building in a great location. Overall, we would highly recommend this place.

One thing that could have been a huge problem is that we were not given a code for the front door of the building. (We only had instructions on how to get into our individual apartment.) Thankfully, we arrived at the same time as another renter, and he showed us the code. A few days later, I did the same for other new renters. If you stay here, make sure to ask the management about this.

Just Right

  • 4 of 5

This apartment was just right for us. We were a family of 6 with 2 adults and 4 kids between the ages of 10 and 14. Everyone had their own bed/space, and the futons were quite comfortable for the kids. The apartment itself was small and a little dated/worn in areas but was very clean, bright and well appointed with plenty of sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels. There was also a more-than-adequate supply of dish soap, hand soap, paper towels, and toilet paper. The kitchen had the basics we needed. We only ate breakfast there, so we did not need the stove/oven/pots and pans (there were only a few). Each room had a ceiling fan, and the AC worked well (which we were thankful for given the +90 degree temps). The location/street was residential, quiet and safe and was fairly convenient to the Dupont Circle metro stop (about a 10-minute walk). The walk could be lessened by taking the bus down to the metro stop. The apartment was between the Dupont Circle area and the Adams Morgan area (it's around the corner from the Hilton). Both areas were filled with dining and drinking options. The kids' favorites were Firehook Bakery, Shake Shack, and The Diner. Parking is for residents only during the week, so we parked our car in a lot in the Adams Morgan area and left it there for most of the week. This was much cheaper than using the Hilton garage (the street lot was about $20/day vs. $45/day at the Hilton) . We did not communicate with the property manager as we had no need. We didn't see many building residents/renters, but the building itself seemed quiet and safe. Overall, we had a great week in DC and would rent this apartment again! :)
