Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom, One Bath, Waterfront, With Dock And Fishing, Well Furnished

This Florida cottage is a converted shrimp house. The decor is tropical with tile floors and ceiling fans. This 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom (shower, no tub) air conditioned cottage is well -furnished and sleeps only 2.

The quaint cottage is on Cow Creek overlooking a small bay. Manatees, dolphins and many water fowl frequent the area. Enjoy your coffee from the waterfront seating area. Fishing is available from the attached floating dock. Mullet, jacks, snapper sheephead are in the creek. The creek is tidal and his spring feed, and that attracts the manatees. The manatees go by the cottage daily and it is a short paddle up to the springs where they hang out. If you bring your flats boat, Red fish, snook and trout fishing areas are both north and south. Grouper, grunts, hogfish and cobia are west. The Gulf Waters of Hudson are shallow and typically offer protection from high surf conditions, making it ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and Hobie Cat Sailing. There are many artificial and natural reefs for fishing and diving off Hudson (Home Port of "Catching Hell").

One of my best vacations ever

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was from April 29th through May 6th 2017.Some times you read reviews and you think, really, that place cannot be that great. Trust me this one is. It was like leaving my home driving 900 miles and arriving at my home. Chuck and Jarry provide everything you could need for a great stay. The kitchen is completely stocked. The washer and dryer assure that you will always have clean clothes. There are two televisions so if you and your fellow traveler have different likes you have no problems. The cottage plenty big enough to give you all the room you need. As far as location there are plenty of places to go and things to see within an hours drive. Good places to eat are within a mile. As far as the people you would be renting from, they are two of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. Chuck and Jarry went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed. They even took us out on their pontoon boat our last night to see the sunset on the Gulf of Mexico. If you are considering a trip to Florida to relax and enjoy yourself you should definitely consider this spot. You will not be sorry. I gave it a five star rating because that was the highest rating possible. Would have gone higher if I could. Beth and Wayne, Franklin, Ohio.

Hudson, Florida Spring 2017

  • 5 of 5

Very nice visit to Hudson. We had fun in the canoe looking for manatees and wildlife and experiencing life on a canal. It was a great location to venture out and explore the gulf of Mexico side of Florida without being surrounding by big city traffic. Our host and hostess were very friendly, helpful and informative. The local restaurants were fabulous.

Little cottage by the creek.

Beautiful setting and so peaceful. Chuck & Jarry were the best hosts; welcoming and generous. Located in a great place along the coast so it took no time to access numerous attractions. We will be returning and recommend this to anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing time.

A Real Pearl

  • 5 of 5

We chose Hudson for our staycation because we wanted to be with nature far from the big city and no phones and enjoy God's endless creation; we like to bike and hike and snorkel, etc. The Cozy Cottage is impeccably clean, the bed is very comfortable, the beautiful back porch and dock on the water ... it was the perfect little paradise for us. Chuck and Jarry are so down to earth and friendly and go way beyond the norm to make sure the cottage has everything you need from a wide variety of coffee to bathroom supplies to mosquito spray. All you need to buy are your groceries. Not only is the cottage on the water with canoes, kayaks, fishing and wildlife, but it is also within an hour's drive of many biking and hiking trails and Ft. De Soto State Park (voted top 5 best family beaches in the world) where we went snorkeling and saw a giant conch and starfish for the first time. If you haven't been to Fort De Soto, you have to go; biggest, cleanest and prettiest beach I've ever been too and plan to go back next year!!! (and we are from Ft. Lauderdale)! We didn't see the manatee while canoeing from the cottage but we sure had fun looking for them. The stars at night are very bright and beautiful to look at. There's a bait store a few yards down in one direction and a cute bar in the other direction called the Sea Shanty a few yards away yet we never heard any noise coming from it. Very quiet and peaceful area.

Clean, maintained, beautiful view, nice dock and good price!

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time, plenty to see on our canoeing trips over the weekend. Very clean, well managed place. Chuck and Jarry were very nice and helpful on anything! Only thing is if you're bring a boat you'll be using it according to high tide as it gets very shallow at low tide (the canoe drug in spots) other than that it was A-1 in our opinion. Will visit again!

Peacefully in nature

  • 5 of 5

Don't let the outside fool you, interior is nicely updated. We encountered ducks on a daily basis, of course feeding them was a joy. It kept me from missing our pets. We did arrive with a storm coming in, so the first few days were just relaxing on the porch under a tin roof, so soothing. Use of the kayaks was wonderful, we went to the gulf and back to a spring. Seeing manatees going in toward the spring was great. It probably would have been better if the storm didn't turn up the water. We will definitely stay again, away from the hustle and bustling of traffic that you get when you stay in places like Orlando or Tampa.
