About Gabby smith

Chico is one of my favorite Art towns. Chico has a way of drawing out the Artist in everyone...It is also one of the most picturesque College campuses in all of California.

Gabby smith purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Gabby smith chose Shasta Cascade

The Villa was built in 1959. It is 10,000 sq ft and was Originally built for the Lambda Pi Fraternity, Chico States oldest off campus fraternity. It housed 50 fraternity pledges. Lambda Pi has long since moved on campus leaving the giant relic to fall into disrepair. As alumni of Chico State we fell in love with the house and it's history and have fully restored the old Frat House. For a taste of the old Frat house days visit Youtube: Lambda Pi Pioneer days!

What makes this apartment unique

The Villa is located 1 mile from Chico State and Downtown Chico. It's a great walking and bicycling town. It sits on 2 country acres and the pool is 10 ft deep and in the shape of Lambda for those hot summer Chico days. It's Town and Country living at its finest!

Great Place for a Small Family Celebration!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our recent stay in Suite #1 of The Villa for our son's graduation from Chico State University. The complex is located in a semi-rural area and, for our tastes, was just far enough away from all the activity and crowds in the downtown area and campus. Of course, it was not too far for an energetic walk or a short ride in the car to be in the center of all the commencement energy or Chico history. The suite was super clean, comfortable, well-appointed and quiet, and we loved Gabby's special touch of leaving a few snacks out for weary travelers--it was our little home away from home.

Great Location! Clean and quiet.

We enjoyed our stay at the Villa and look forward to a return visit. Minutes from downtown and nestled on a quiet road, the Villa was in the perfect location for our needs. Thanks for the Hospitality and a great Home Away experience.

Great location, clean and comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this cute place. It's in a good location ... a little far for walking downtown, but an easy bike ride ... And I enjoyed the feeling of being out in the country.

Everything was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We'll definitely stay here again. The owners are great, I was impressed with the quick response time to messages!!

Hopefully next time it will be warmer and we'll be able to take advantage of the pool. :)

Very nice accommodations!

Everything related to our stay was ideal. Parking was very convenient, the property was very clean, and the neighbor hood quiet. We will try to reserve this property again in the future.

Great option for Chico lodging!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, daughter and I stayed in Suite 1 for 2 nights over family weekend at Chico State in early October. When looking for hotels, the nicer ones were full so we turned to VRBO instead and came across Gabby's listing. Gabby's response was prompt and the booking was quick and easy. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a personalized parking sign and inside the villa, we found a personalized note and a tray of snacks to welcome us, along with info about the villa and surrounding area and the WIFI password. We found the villa to be very clean, quiet, nicely furnished & spacious. We were a bit surprised that the fireplace was not working (the pilot light was not lit) and there was no TV, but Gabby responded to my inquiry about those promptly and it was not an issue for us (if that's important to you though, it's good to know that there is not one…that's the only reason I mention it). I had also forgotten my hair dryer, and Gabby kindly brought one over for me to use, along with a down comforter for added warmth at night (much appreciated!). We found both beds to be very comfortable with soft sheets & bedding and appreciated the blackout curtains, which allowed us to sleep in in the morning. We loved the pool area with lots of comfortable outdoor furniture and enjoyed the sun and a glass of wine poolside before meeting our son for dinner one night. We also really liked that the villa was close to downtown and the campus (within 5-10 minutes), but distant enough to not be caught up in the hustle and bustle and downtown noise. We really enjoyed our stay and even remarked to each other that the entire property would be a great place to rent in a few years for our families when our son graduates! We much preferred our stay in the villa to a hotel and will definitely be back if Gabby will have us :)

*a couple of suggestions for Gabby: it would be helpful to have a full length mirror somewhere in the house (on the back of a door or elsewhere). My husband also looked for an iron and ironing board and could not find one, though I assume you would have provided one if we had asked. We were short on time though when he needed it. Lastly, we could not find a corkscrew to open our wine with. All very minor things :)

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review! Much appreciated! Ive added the items mentioned like the iron/board and full length mirror to my stocking list. Thx. Not sure where the corkscrew walked off too...I'll restock as well. Hope to see you again! Thanks, Gabby The Villa Chico

Mid-Summer Stay at the Villa

  • 5 of 5

My wife Julie and I stayed in Suite 1 for 5 nights during our trip to Chico; we traveled from Colorado to assist our daughter with her transfer to Chico State. We had many busy days and it was very nice to come back and hang by the pool and relax on the patio outside the Suite. Suite 1 was perfect as I was able to work online in the early mornings. Gabby was great and provided awesome recommendations (Crush and Raw Bar) for local dining options. I would highly recommend staying at the Villa if you are traveling and staying in Chico. We plan to do so again when we are back visiting our daughter later this year.
