Bearkat Cabin is a mountain vacation destination built in 2014. Located 2 miles west of the Homestead resort. It is just 3 1/2 miles from downtown Midway and Ridley's Deli. This mountain retreat has 3000 ft.² for your family's enjoyment. Sitting in a canyon with quiet surroundings and an open view of Wasatch Mountain State Park you will enjoy the solitude of this beautiful Rocky Mountain vacation getaway.
The cabin has five bedrooms and three 3/4 bathrooms, one on each level. Each bedroom has a queen-size bed. The full basement has a futon that opens into a double bed. All bed and bath linens are provided and there are extra blankets, sheets and pillows. In the walkout downstairs are cable TV with 100 channels, a pool table and an area to play games. A second TV is on the main floor. Large decks on the east and west side offer a place to relax or barbecue. The laundry room has washer and dryer. It offers plenty of parking for vehicles or toys (The long driveway can hold at least 8 vehicles).
There are numerous restaurants in the area but when you want to stay in and cook the kitchen is well-equipped with all the basic cooking utensils and pans, a refrigerator, microwave oven, toaster, and double oven. After you are done you can use the dishwasher or do the dishes in the double sink.
It is a one hour drive to Salt Lake City and LDS Church Museums and Genealogy Library. BYU is thirty miles away. Park City's historic main street for shopping, outlet stores and Olympic Park are just over the hill. Three golf courses are within a few miles: my favorite is Wasatch Mountain State Park with 36 holes of challenging terrain. Utah ski resorts provide recreation opportunities in winter or summer. Hike to Stewart Falls, Cascade Springs or Silver Lake to name a few destinations. Water recreation is abundant: rent a boat or jet ski at nearby Deer Creek State Park or Jordanelle Reservoir, fish the Provo River or start with a class on fly fishing in Heber City.
We do not rent the cabin from December 1 to March 20 as the roads are not plowed.
Our family had an amazing family reunion in this beautiful clean cabin. There were two bedrooms upstairs, a bedroom on the main floor, and two bedrooms in the lower level. There was a bunk bed in one of the rooms downstairs. There was a bathroom on every level,
The cabin is so inviting with a porch and swing in the front where we spent the evenings enjoying the cool breeze.
There were plenty of games, movies and magazines. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes, utensils, pans etc. The A/C was nice when the afternoons were hot. We loved the lower level where the pool table was.
The owners paid attention to details to decorate with beautiful rugs, quilts on the beds, pictures etc.
The cabin was surrounded by hills covered with trees.
We had a very nice stay (wish it was longer).
The cabin was large enough for all our kids and grand kids (about 17 including the newborns). The five bedrooms are adequately sized and nicely appointed to be comfortable. The futon bed in the rec room also came in handy. The cabin is newer, so everything was in good shape: the appliances are newer and work well. We especially liked having a good-sized washer and dryer. The cabin is located at about 6500ft above sea level so the temperature was five to eight degrees cooler than down in the valley, but the air conditioning was appreciated nonetheless. There was plenty of parking for our six vehicles. The cabin has other cabins nearby, but it was set apart from the others so it felt like we were alone on the mountain much of the time. All in all we had a great vacation and respite spot.
we were charged for broken globe but my daughter said it was broke when they arrived first. we broke the tv by it getting knocked over but we replaced it, however it was not secure to the table or wall and was an accident ready to happen with kids around. water rationing the first few days was not conducive to a high rent cabin. rating is based on the above items. would not rent cabin again. This was a great cabin for our family vacation. With 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 2 living areas there was plenty of room for all the extended family. Great ATV trails up the canyon were a big positive for our family. All three bathrooms offered walk in, high end tile showers and all rooms had a queen size bed or bigger in them. The pool table downstairs entertained us for hours upon hours. Plenty of parking for everyone.
The kitchen was fully furnished with all the dishes and cooking utensils you may need. Just provide your own food. The laundry was great to have since we did a lot of 4 wheeling. We didn't need to pack as many cloths.
The cabin owners were great to work with and left detailed instructions inside the cabin on anything we may have questions or problems with. Because of their great instructions we had on issues with he cabin.
If you are looking for a great cabin experience then this cabin is perfect. It is well taken care of, offers plenty of room and is close to the top of the canyon for ATV riding and hiking. We highly recommend this cabin.
The best thing about this cabin is the feeling of solitude. You drive through a mountain subdivision to get to the cabin. Once you pull down the driveway and go inside you feel that you are high in the mountains and removed from everything.
