About Jorge Zamora
While visiting San Miguel de Allende about 5 years ago, my wife and I visited Guanajuato for the day. That was all it took to fall in love with this magical city. Great atmosphere, great people, great food, and there is really always something to do. The live and let live attitude certainly can be said for Guanajuato. You can hear roosters, music, traffic, and people talking at all hours of the day or night, and hardly any complaints from anyone. We love the Sunday market days at Embajadoras park. You can sit, eat, people watch, walk your dog, and enjoy a great Sunday afternoon. This is even better when the park is 5 minutes from the house. There are restaurants, OXXO convenient stores, bakeriess, fruit market, meat markets, mercados no more than 5 minutes from the house. Anything you need close by without having to go into town or the large MEGA (grocery store) about 10 minutes away. There is a bakery about 50 meters from our front doorsteps. This is really nice since you can pick up fresh baked bread daily. We are a very pleasant 10-15min walk from the Jardin de Union and Teatro Juarez. You can catch a bus for 5 pesos, or a taxi for 30 pesos to the Jardin de Union.

Why Jorge Zamora chose De La Presa
Looked for a couple of years for a fixer upper in Guanajuato. Finally found what we consider our best choice after looking all over town, and traveling back and forth from the states to look at so many homes. We liked the potential of adding on to the house. It was originally a single level home with no roof over the main living areas. We fixed the lower level, then decided to add a second level, then finally the cozy casita up on the top floor. The views from up there are really very nice, and my family and I spend a lot of time up there in the evening. We loved the location, the cul-de-sac type location made for very little foot traffic by the front door, and very little noise.
What makes this House unique

Wonderful place to stay!
For two weeks, we had a magical time at this beautiful apartment, in an incredible location, in a can't-miss city. First, the apartment. It's beautifully furnished, with a lovely view of the brightly colored hill-hugging houses that make Guanajuarto so special. The bedrooms are comfortable; the kitchen is equipped with everything you'll need; there's a big TV, which we listened to music on; and there's the necessary WIFI.
Second, the location, in the de la Presa neighborhood, gave us a taste of living in Guanajuarto rather than just being in the tourist area. We were a 10-minute walk from the language school (Hacienda, which we recommend) where we took a daily hour lesson and met a few people. And we were a five-minute walk from a big park and daily mercado at Embarjadora, where we got juice daily and often had breakfast or lunch. Additionally, there's a "pancake" house in the same area if you're dying for an American breakfast.
The flat is a 10-15 minute walk from the historic center of town, full of all the sights, endless picturesque alleys to explore, and museums, galleries, and many beautiful plazas and parks to while away the time . . . not to mention restaurants, cafes, and all that. If you're too tired to walk, there's a bus stop right in front of the house and taxis are always a minute or two wait. Taxis were $3 to and from most of the places we wanted to go, and we tended toward them rather than buses. The most we ever paid for a taxi was $5 to some of the sights that were on the outskirts of town.
We found people in Guanajuarto to be exceptionally friendly and nice. We met a woman while walking down the stairs, who we ran into again, and became friendly. We also met another woman while resting on the way up the stairs. She opened her door and invited us in!
We also were lucky to have met Jorge and Ana, who were there for most of our visit. While they are back in the US, the ever-helpful Marina lives two houses down and is available to help out in any way. And, you won't believe this, but Jorge called from the US the morning we were leaving to see if we needed any help. And he arranged our transportation to the airport long-distance. We couldn't ask for a better host!
A home away from home.
My family and I stayed at Casa de la Paz for 3 days and we had a blast. We went to Guanajuato to celebrate my mom’s birthday and we fell in love with the city and of course the house too. The house is walking distance to so many tourist spots such as El Pipila , Teatro Juárez, Jardin Union, etc. If you’re planning on visiting Guanajuato, Casa de la Paz is your place that you can call a second home away from home.
Beautiful and Comfortable Home
We truly enjoyed our stay at Casa de la Paz! The house is beautiful, has an open floorplan (bigger than it looks in the pictures), and comfortable. It was an easy walk to town. The stairs leading up to the property from the street are about 30 meters straight up but not bad compared to the rest of the city. We got use to them quickly. They were only daunting when we arrived at night with luggage, a young child and rain. You will enjoy your stay, Guanajuato city is a lively and beautiful place!
Great House In A Great City
We stayed here for a week in August. The house is located on a hillside and has a great view from the rooftop terrace. The house is roomy and comfortable, and within walking distance to several points of interest including the Jardin De La Union, Teatro Juarez, and cathedrals in the downtown historical district. There is a hiking trail nearby which leads to the top of "La Bufa", a prominent rock formation overlooking the city. The owners of the house, Jorge and Ana, were hospitable and happy to recommend good restaurants and sites to see downtown. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here.
Comfort and charm
The steps up the callejon to the property would give anyone pause BUT this is Guanajuato! This is a walking town and if you stay only a week you will lose 5 pounds and be stronger....and love it. Once you get to the property you have a blend of Mexican charm and American style comfort. We enjoyed every moment of our month in Casa de la Paz finding that it satisfied all of our needs. Ana and Jorge were wonderful at helping us with our little settling in issues as was Adela who watches the property for them. It was, indeed, a home away from home, the most enjoyable of our several experiences in Mexico. So, walk a few hills before coming and enjoy a wonderful experience in Casa de la Paz and the magic city of Guanajuato.
Wonderful place in a great location
We spent 9 days in Guanajuato and enjoyed every bit of it. A great place to visit. The people are warm and friendly. What also made the trip even better was Casa De La Paz. It is a well kept apartment with everything we needed to feel comfortable.
I cannot say enough nice things about the owners Jorge and Ana. They happened to be in town when we began our stay. They met us on street level in front of the house and even carried some of our luggage up to the apartment. They made us feel at home with recommendations of restaurants, things to see in town and answers about how to best get around town. When it was time to leave I asked Jorge the best way to organize transportation to the airport. He then booked our transportation. This was much more than I expected.
There has been some discussion about the steps leading up to the house. We did not find this a problem. We really enjoyed the view from the terrace on the top of the apartment. A great place to sit back and relax. Guanajuato is hilly town but that is how you get the great views.
A great place to stay.
Hola D and B
Glad you enjoyed your stay with us in Casa Paz, and found the accomodations to your liking. What can we say about Guanajuato is there are stairs everywhere, and yes the views from the terraza after climbing some stairs are the reward for doing so. The terraza is a great place to end the day with you favorite food and drink. We were very happy to meet fellow Texans, and we hope keep us in mind if you should return to this great city in the future. Thanks again for the great review, nice meeting you guys, and safe and happy travels always.
