Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday condo in Johns Island - The Island House, Johns Island

A great spot to relax and unwind. Exclusive, secure + private oceanfront property

Our property is on a barrier island along Florida's east coast, about 3 miles north of Vero Beach, in one of the top rated, gated communities in the USA. Beautifully landscaped grounds. Centrally located at our property is a furnished tropical garden courtyard with a heated swimming pool. There are also 2 furnished oceanside decks to take in the sights, sounds and ocean air, situated directly atop the beach. There are miles of private beach to explore, with very little pedestrian traffic to deal with.

About John Hurley

For more than 30 years this has been a great retreat to come to, escaping from the harsh winter weather of western New York State. The weather is great here.

John Hurley purchased this condo in 1982

Why John Hurley chose Indian River Shores

A well maintained building and grounds. The ocean and beach are among the finest Florida has to offer! It is only a short drive to all the amenities of Vero Beach. Ther are factory outlets, great public golf courses, cinemas and numerous restaurants only minutes away. Always enjoyable to return to the quiet enjoyment our oceanfront property offers us.

What makes this condo unique

The heated pool, ocean decks, garden courtyard and amazing beach are unique benefits.

Sea turtles nest in the dune grasses on our beach every year. You can hike for miles in either direction on the beach. You can sit out on the ocean deck and relax. I have beautiful views from my second floor, covered balcony looking north east up the ocean and coast.

Wonderful Inviting and Tranquil Oasis

I immediately became immersed in daily life after our vacation and am just now taking the time to review our stay. We had a lovely time. Having worked in the vacation rental industry for over 15 yrs, expectations are high & not often fully met. Cleanliness is often a battle. The condo was spotless. New shower & toilet had been installed prior to our arrival which was a great upgrade and a welcomed surprise. We feared the twin beds pushed together would be an issue especially with my husband being a large tall guy but it was fine. Great ocean view from balcony. The place was small & basic but perfect for our needs. The listing on VRBO is true to form. The complex and the beaches were so quiet. It was as though we had also booked the beach for ourselves. We extended our stay for one additional night with ease. Communication was immediate, and Ken was such a pleasure to work with. Had a great chat. Would stay here again in a heartbeat & highly recommend this sweet little hideaway.

Would recommend for folks looking to just get away, without being too far from normal comforts. Quiet property with miles of open beach.

Great Condo!

  • 5 of 5

This condo was perfect for my husband and I for a weeks stay! The pictures and description of it was very accurate. It has a beautiful deck with a good view of the ocean. The condo is well equipped and although small, was comfortable and had plenty of furniture. We were able to make breakfast and lunch in the kitchenette ( toaster oven, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave and 2 burners). We always eat dinner out while on our vacation. There are plenty of dishes, glasses, silverware and utensils. Some staples were there ( probably left by previous vacationers) like paper towels, toilet paper, coffee filters). Towels were plentiful. The whole condo was very clean as were the buildings and grounds. The deck at the ocean is nice to sit on with several lounge chairs and a small table and chairs. There were beach chairs and umbrellas right down the steps on the beach. The pool area was clean and landscaped beautifully. We had a great time and would stay at this condo again! The owners instructions on obtaining key, etc, were well defined and communications were answered quickly. The area was quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed it very much!

Comfortable and relaxing. Beautiful location with ocean view and deck to enjoy the breeze and the wa

  • 4 of 5

The accommodations were a second floor ocean side studio in a very beautiful and upscale development.

The development is family friendly but quiet and relaxing. The beautiful natural beach is 3 miles long.

Just outside the entry door is the heated courtyard pool surrounded by beautiful landscaping .The studio has a small fridge, 2 burners,

pop up counter for food preparation , a nice bathroom area with separate dressing and closet area, and 2 beds which may be put together for a queen size bed. We were able to enjoy morning coffee on the deck and watch the dolphins going along the beach.

Our stay was very enjoyable.

The only downside was that Comcast was off more than on but that was an issue with the Comcast equipment and the owner was very helpful in trying to get the situation fixed. It actually was a good thing because we spent more time reading and being outdoors .

Unfortunately only members can have an account at the club so meals and drinks have to be prepared in the studio or go out.

The Clubhouse cannot accept cash or credit cards from non members.

Vero Beach has a multitude of good restaurants close by.

Enjoyed our stay at JI with family and friends!

  • 3 of 5

We had a most enjoyable stay visiting with our family and friends. Weather was great, beds were comfortable. If you want to use club facilities you must join club and you need to be sponsored by a member. It's only a kitchenette so you will want to find out in evenings. The on demand water supply made for lukewarm showers not hot!!
