Property type tower
Minimum Stay 1 - 2 nights

Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 2 – Non-Smoking

Escape to this private, peaceful, 550 square feet water tower suite nestled amongst the redwoods. This is the perfect place for a romantic get-away or some downtime. Sleep under the overhead and inspired sunflower, lit by the rays of the morning sun. Best of all, you'll be surrounded by plenty of tall trees and ocean breezes, with a location 2.75 miles east of the village of Mendocino.

The private (exclusive) bathroom has a roomy shower, indoor hot tub, beautiful stone counters, custom cabinets built by a local fine woodworker and radiant floor heating. The bedroom has the feel of a tree house, with a king sized comfy bed, good reading lights, 50" flat screen tv, with Apple TV. Wake up to the sound of birds in the trees and sunlight filtering through the redwoods.

On chilly mornings, warm up in the private (exclusive) hot tub with a cup of coffee before heading out for the day. There is a downstairs entry room with all that you need to make that perfect cup of morning coffee, or tea, plus a small fridge for wine or leftovers (but, sorry, no cooking). The outdoor deck is set in a lovely Asian style garden, a perfect place to enjoy the outdoors.

The Water Tower makes for an ideal home base for exploring the fabulous Mendocino Coast. You will undoubtedly want to explore the historic, quaint and quirky coastal village and enjoy the many art galleries, restaurants, and shops. Take a walk on the Mendocino Headlands State Park and the majestic coastal bluffs of the Pacific Ocean. When you are done, wander back into town or a hot chocolate or glass of wine at the historic Mendocino Hotel.

The area is known for ocean kayaking hiking, and phenomenal mountain biking opportunities such as the beautiful Big River trail. You're also close to Russian Gulch State Park and the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse recreational areas for further adventures.

At the end of a day of adventuring along the Mendocino Coast, relax and enjoy your private hot tub in the luxurious bathroom, while sipping a glass of wine from one of the many wonderful local wineries.

Winter is a great time to visit the Mendocino area and experience the winter storms and watch the grey whales migrate from Alaska to Mexico.

Guest space is in a converted water tower, and is separate from the historic lumber bunkhouse which has been converted into owner's current residence. Many acres of fir and redwood forest just outside the doors.

This space is not appropriate for children, or people who smoke, or pets, or guests who need to heat/cook food.

A personal vehicle is totally necessary in this area. No public transportation worthy of the name!

About Hope & Rennie Innis

We are freshly retired and love the idea of having this wonderful room to share with people.

Rennie was a cabinet maker, a teacher, and then a software developer, and Hope was a bookstore owner, and then a property manager.

We love to travel, especially when warm water is involved! Although we have traveled many places, it is always a pleasure to arrive back home.

Hope & Rennie Innis purchased this tower in 1989

What makes this tower unique

Located next to the 30,000 acre Jackson State Forest, we are surrounded by Nature. We love the quiet, and that we get 30 sunny days more than the folks in the nearby village of Mendocino. The village is just a 5 minute drive away.

Wonderful stay near Mendocino

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was great! Rennie was super nice and hospitable. We really appreciated the "tour" and explanation of how everything works. The place itself is absolutely perfect for a romantic getaway - comfy bed, awesome hot tub, and super quiet! Would definitely stay again.

Romantic Room in the Sky

  • 5 of 5

We were, at first, put off by the lack of a kitchenette and the outdoor stairs to the bathroom, but the beauty of the room won me over. The giant parachute flower (backlit with a dimmable light), which we'd expected to be kinda silly, surprised us by adding ambiance at night. And watching the changing sky through the canopy of redwood trees was a real treat during the day. We played our Pandora stations through the surround sound system, and didn't need to worry about disturbing the neighbors. In fact, we enjoyed the water tower so much that it was difficult to leave long enough for excursions in to Mendocino!

Beautifully kept!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I could not be happier with our stay in Mendocino at Hope and Rennie's home. There home was beautiful and very

comfortable. Since we were never in Mendocino before we were given many beautiful suggestions of places to explore, as well as some nice restaurants to try. Thanks for a lovely stay and although we have just met we feel like we knew you much longer.

When you arrive, please do not park in the driveway. You may park close to the Barn (on the east side of the house). On the side of the Barn, you will see a white sign saying 'Please Park Here'. The entrance to your space is located on the side of the house, look for two green doors, and a small wooden deck/porch. If you are facing the barn, this will be to your left. The light will come on automatically if you arrive after dark. The key is located in a very small bucket, on door frame to the right of the entry door.
