About Gary & Rosemary Reed
Rosemary's Grandparents had a cabin at Kohl's Ranch in the 1950's, and enjoyed her childhood summers here. She introduced Gary to Kohls Ranch and we bought our first cabin here in 1985. Our family loves to fish, catch crawdads (crayfish), and hike the many trails. Downstream a bit are swimming holes we love to swim and picnic at.
Gary & Rosemary Reed purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why Gary & Rosemary Reed chose Kohls Ranch
When we bought this cabin in 2011 it was truly a 1950's fishing cabin. We lived here full time for 4 years and upgraded it to a year-round home. We added Air-Conditioning and Forced Air Heating. We updated the kitchen and added an indoor washer and dryer. We moved to the Town of Payson to be closer to work, but we just can't part with our cabin. We love hearing about how our guests enjoy our little cabin on the creek!

Peaceful and relaxing
My husband and I stayed for two nights. Love seeing the blue jay birds and other wildlife. The kitchen had everything we needed. Wonderful cabin - check it out ASAP!!!!
So Much Family Fun!
So glad I was I able to rent your cabin this past weekend - and on short notice! We all had a great time!! We took the kids on a hike to a nearby waterfall and I was also able to watch my kiddos fish from the back porch!! We also found the peanuts you left behind so we could feed the Blue Jay's & squires! My youngest so was so excited to see them come so close! We'll be back for sure!
This property is amazing!
My family loved everything about it. My son especially loved fishing in the creek. It was very quiet and relaxing yet close enough to town. We will be back.
Blasting Music! Nail Guns! Generator! Pounding Nails all at 8am
My 7 yr old son and I arrived on Friday, (the owners did allow us to check in 3 hours early). The cabin is little but the layout works well with a small family. The back patio is nice (enough lighting at night) and there was easy access to the creek which my son loved. Hot water was sporadic so you had to take a shower when it wanted you to. Was happy to be in nature from the busy day to day, Friday was perfect. On Saturday morning though "BOOM" we were woken up by blasting music at 7:45 am (Lionel Ritchie and James Taylor were apart of the mix)from the neighbor and workers that were doing full blown construction on the cabin within 15ft of us. Cutting wood, generator shutting off and on, nail guns and pounding nails in to the side of their cabin. My son and I decided to go in to town and get breakfast due to the excessive noise cause it immediately puts you in a bad mood, all you want is to enjoy the outside weather and nature but the excessive noise made us crazy. When we got back to the cabin, the construction was going on still until around 4pm and then finally QUIET. I got to listen to my own music and sit outside to enjoy what we went there for. Then, BOOM, 8 am on Sunday to blasting music again and to open the master bedroom curtains to a man standing on a ladder pounding nails in to the side of the cabin with in 15ft of us. I immediately texted the owners and apologized for texting them so early but that this cabin experience was not as expected. Their initial response was "they were sorry and if they would of know they would of contacted the owners and the construction crew", and then what could they do. I asked to be credited for 1 night because Friday night was fine, but had to plan our Saturday around excessive noise and Sunday we just wanted to get out of there. Their response was that their other neighbors said the construction wasn't that loud,we were loud and that they let me check in 3 hours early so they felt that was a generous accommodation. Completely unacceptable and if anyone would like to me to send them a video of the noise I'm happy to. The cabin next door looks like there's going to be construction going on for sometime, so BEWARE, it won't be the peaceful trip you are expecting.
As we discussed, I'm truly sorry for your experience. I'm glad that the deck ans access to the creek and overall the cabin was to your liking. I'm also glad we were able to check you in early to enjoy a full complimentary day. Regardless of the other neighbors not thinking the noise was excessive, I do understand it was not to you liking. Unfortunately, there are times elements are out of our control. We appreciate your feedback and took this opportunity to remind the neighbors this is our vacation rental. Thankfully we have a great relationship with our neighbors and they understand since they also rent properties through vrbo.com.
The Reeds cabin is a great property. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a cozy place right on the creek. Clean, well maintained and has everything you need and more. Owners are very responsive and welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
Wonderful Little Cabin
Our family was looking for a great cabin get away to relax and share some down time. This was the perfect place for a long weekend! We hiked, fished, played board games and enjoyed the cabin on Tonto Creek to the fullest! We would rent the cabin again in a heart beat and will.
Kohls Ranch Lodge is just down the road 1 mile. There is a restaurant, bar, horse back riding. Ranch Tonto Catch-A-Trout is 2 miles away. There are plenty of hiking trails. One great trail is just steps from the cabin to a beautiful waterfall. Or try the Horton Creek Trail where Tonto Creek and Horton creek meet. The Mogollon Rim is 7 miles away. It has Woods Canyon Lake and Willow Springs lake. The Town of Payson is just 17 miles away with a Casino, Restaurants, Shopping, Bowling, Golf, and the worlds oldest Rodeo. Camp Tontozona, where Arizona State University Sun Devils practices is just four cabins away. The Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery is 7.3 miles away.
