Gary & Rosemary Reed
About Gary & Rosemary Reed
Rosemary's Grandparents had a cabin at Kohl's Ranch in the 1950's, and enjoyed her childhood summers here. She introduced Gary to Kohls Ranch and we bought our first cabin here in 1985. Our family loves to fish, catch crawdads (crayfish), and hike the many trails. Downstream a bit are swimming holes we love to swim and picnic at.
Gary & Rosemary Reed purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why Gary & Rosemary Reed chose Payson
When we bought this cabin in 2011 it was truly a 1950's fishing cabin. We lived here full time for 4 years and upgraded it to a year-round home. We added Air-Conditioning and Forced Air Heating. We updated the kitchen and added an indoor washer and dryer. We moved to the Town of Payson to be closer to work, but we just can't part with our cabin. We love hearing about how our guests enjoy our little cabin on the creek!

Had a great time.
The cabin was in a great location. Listing was as advertised. The creek was very cool!
A couple days away
Very nice, quiet getaway
Wonderful vacation rental
We enjoyed the rental. It was lovely outdoors. The process is easy. There is plenty to do outdoors. Make sure to stop at Safeway in Payson to stock the fridge because Christopher Creek is limited in selection.
Okay Stay at Property
The property is a nice little place to get away to, but when it comes to cleanliness and privacy, it's not as it seems. There was build up from quite a few past visits from other guests around toilet and shower, a bloody pillow and used bed sheets found in bunk room closet, and was obvious the queen bed had used sheets too. The recliners were a hazard since they both malfunctioned. Amputee fiance fell back and out of chair from trying to lay back. Price of cleaning is overkill for 2 people taking "3 hours to clean". The houses are also too clustered especially on a long tiny road.
Oh no! I'm so sorry your fiance fell out of one of our chairs! I will be sure to check it to see if it needs repair. As far of the cleanliness of our cabin goes, my husband and I take great care in the cleaning and maintaining of our cabin on the creek! If you happened to have taken any pictures of the problem areas I'd be happy to review them. I would love to take a look at them to see where we could improve on our routine. This is the first of this sort of feedback we have ever received, everyone always say how clean our cabin is, however I appreciate there is always room for improvement! I buy new bedding with each season (with a cabin theme) and I have two sets so each time my guest gets new ones. The clean sheets in the closet are just extra in case someone wants to use them on the couch or a blow up bed. I will check out the extra pillow and replace it if it is not perfect. At first glance it may not seem like it takes 3 hours to get our cabin on the creek ready for new guests, however keep in mind, we not only make sure everything is clean but also maintain the landscaping and make any necessary repairs. I do my best to make sure every room is perfect. I myself take great pride in having our guest arrive to a welcoming and clean cabin. Including the availability of plenty of TP, paper towels, Kleenex, keurig coffee, regular coffee, ice, trash bags, dog treats, dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, extra towels, bedding, cleaning supplies, fishing supplies, creek toys, peanuts for the birds and squirrels, fireplace logs, first aid supplies among other things I would expect to ensure my guests have everything they might want on hand, and may not have thought to pack! I am also sorry I couldn't accommodate your late checkout request this time. This time of year we rarely have any extra time available. When we have guests checking out and in on the same day, we are just not able to get the turnover completed in fewer than 3 hours. If we have gaps in rental days we have always been more than willing to offer early check in and late checkouts. The calendar is a good resource for this to avoid any let downs. Our past reviews have always noted how private our cabin is with the back patio overlooking Tonto Creek and forest. Did something happen while you where there? I did notice none of the surrounding cabins were even occupied this week. We want all of our guests to have an amazing experience.
Relax by the creek
We started out each morning with coffee on the back patio watching the creek and ended each day with a glass of wine out there. You can cross the creek and hike in the national forest for hours all along the creek. The cabin is so comfortable and open. We have been here twice and the cabin is very clean and comfortable. The back patio is a great place to relax. We really love staying here.
Peaceful creek side retreat
We had a wonderful time at this quaint cabin. We brought our doggies and they loved being able to explore the property freely. Being right on the creek, fishing couldn’t get any more convenient. Nice covered porch overlooking the creek, and listening to it in the morning with coffee, and in the evening with a glass of wine, was very relaxing. Property owners easy to work with. Loved the Kuerig coffee maker. Would definitely stay again. Highly recommend!
Kohls Ranch Lodge is just down the road 1 mile. There is a restaurant, bar, horse back riding. Ranch Tonto Catch-A-Trout is 2 miles away. There are plenty of hiking trails. One great trail is just steps from the cabin to a beautiful waterfall. Or try the Horton Creek Trail where Tonto Creek and Horton creek meet. The Mogollon Rim is 7 miles away. It has Woods Canyon Lake and Willow Springs lake. The Town of Payson is just 17 miles away with a Casino, Restaurants, Shopping, Bowling, Golf, and the worlds oldest Rodeo. Camp Tontozona, where Arizona State University Sun Devils practices is just four cabins away. The Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery is 7.3 miles away.
