The history that goes along with this property carries over 3 generations. Originally coming out to Porter Beach as renters themselves, the Easons fell in love with the Indiana Dunes and decided to make it their permanent home. The home was built for multiple family enjoyment and entertainment.
You will enjoy the mulitiple spacious family areas, roomy bedrooms and a huge screen in porch...all with fantastic views of Lake Michigan! Everything is provided for your beach enjoyment...beach chairs, beach towels, beach umbrellas and beach toys.
When you rent the "Easton Getaway" you have beach fire pit, kayaks, paddle boards, inner tubes, lilly/frog water play pads.
I cannot say enough about this wonderful vacation property. We spent the week paddle boarding, kayaking, playing on the lily pad, grilling and enjoying the private beach. Debra, the manager, was very friendly and accommodating. The house had plenty of room for two families with teenagers and a senior citizen. Each of the bedrooms has its own private bathroom. It is equipped with everything you need for a fantastic beach vacation. You really only need to bring food and clothes. The million dollar views from the balconies are amazing! We have been coming to Porter beach for over 10 years and this was by far my favorite vacation house. We will definitely be back!
We felt as though we were in the lap of luxury in this beautifully decorated and maintained home. The views of the lake and Chicago skyline are stunning. It is a short walk to a fabulous private beach that goes on forever. We were so appreciative of all the hospitality that Debbie extended to us to. We thoroughly enjoyed use of the kayaks, paddle board, inner tubes and fun beach toys. We wished we could spend a month or more!
We rented this house with three other couples. We all have young children and this houses description sounded perfect for a four day weekend. When we first arrived, we realized that what was called the fourth "bedroom" was really a basement. We being the last to arrive ended up in that room. It was dark, dank and loud but we figured we only need to sleep here. The real treat came that night. The basement was absolutely freezing and we had to move our 5mo daughter to the living room so that she could sleep. My wife ended up staying on the couch next to her all 3 nights. We tried to shut the air vent that was right over the beds but it didn't help. The beds could not be sleped in and our two year old son and I had to huddle for warmth on the horrible pull out couch.
On the plus side, we weren't the only ones that suffered that weekend. One of the bedrooms was so hot that the couple staying in it couldn't sleep through the night.
The water in the house ran yellow and smelled of rust. everyone avoided it unless absolutely necessary.
The kitchen was filled with appliances from what seemed like the 70s. The microwave was broken and although the manager brought us a new one, she expected us, the guest, to carry it into the house and hook it up for her. Speaking of the manager, one of the kids in our group has severe pet allergies, to the point of having to carry an epi pen. We specifically asked if this house allowed pets months in advance and were told no. A week before our trip she emailed and let us know that oh by the way I let a dog stay here the previous week. On top of this, she demanded that we bring in all of the cushions from the patio any time we left the house and at night. She followed this demand up by driving by the house every night to make sure we did it and reprimanded us when we forgot the first night.
Another wonderful rule, that we were informed of upon arrival, was that we were expected to separate all of the recycling properly or be charged $100 dollars. When I say properly, I don't mean recyclable vs none. I mean she expected us to separate the cardboard, paper, plastic and glass into the designated containers.
Once we finally left, we were told that she would be keeping part of our deposit because the dishes weren't all put away and the windows were extra dirty.
Overall, I would rate this rental experience a 0 if I could. My real hope is that by writing this review, I can save someone else this kind of experience.
What a great location! Friends from all over North America and Taiwan gathered for a 20 year college reunion. People flew into Chicago Midway and it was about a 75 minute trip one-way. There was plenty of room for children and adults. The beach was wonderful, private and had a beautiful view of the Chicago sky line. Plus, it was a short walk down to the Indiana Dunes State Park. On Saturday we visited the Chesterton European market...a good time. And a grocery store is about 10 minutes away for supplies. We would definitely visit again with our family or a group of friends.
Our stay at Deb's Beach House was just wonderful. The place was so relaxing with all the decks. I was there for two days and kept finding more! Each bedroom is very private. We had our two small grandchildren with us, and we did not hear them at all. The master bedroom is just gorgeous, and the view is so serene. The beach house has everything you need and more! It was very clean, and Deb was just wonderful. She offered an extra portable crib for the grandchildren, and made sure we had everything for the weekend before she left. The beach area was very clean. The older children went kayaking, as we sat in the comfortable chairs under the umbrella! This Beach House was more than we could ask for. It was very big, yet still cozy for our family. We has such a great time, and Deb made it possible. I hope to go back again soon!
