Watch the working barges lazily drift by, burn a bonfire and roast marshmallows at the water’s edge, or grab your fishing pole and saunter 50 steps to the river bank. Two decks can be utilized. One on the first floor off the kitchen, raised off the bank and partially screened. Another below on the ground level off the basement bar with convenient access to the river.
House sleeps 10: Master has a King; Lower Level Bedroom has a Queen, and Upper Level Bedroom has Bunk Beds AND a Queen.
Two twin sofa sleepers fold out and suddenly the house accommodates 10 – without a problem.
Three full baths, and one half bath and a washer/dryer for your wet suits.
Residents’ pool is across the street.
Screened in porch off kitchen with a table for 6; gas grill on the deck and two tables to seat 8 more. Lower level deck has a swing for two, and four lounge chairs for your comfort.
Full kitchen and dining room table seats 8; bar and counter in the Lower Level. Play bean bags outside on the grassy lawn that slopes down to the river. Or, for the night owls, plenty of board games are in the (website hidden)’s in Living Room, Family Room and Master Bedroom -- but with all the outdoor activities you will hardly have time to watch them.
Bring your boat, dock it (for a nominal day fee) at Heritage Harbor, a multimillion dollar protected harbor here. Kayaks can be rented for by the adventurous as well.
Too tired from all the playing to cook? If you don't feel like using the brand new provided grill, try The Red Dog restaurant, located at the shore of the harbor. It has outdoor (and indoor) dining options. Restaurants for all tastes abound in all directions. Boats and jet skis can be rented 15 minutes away at the Starved Rock Boat Club.
Interaction with Guests
You will have the whole house to yourself. A code will let you in the front door and your ready to go.
Ottawa Illinois is a lovely semi metropolitan neighborhood with a small town feeling. Full of boutique shops and hip restaurants, on can spend hours just walking about. And if you are the boating type, there are municipal piers that you can tie right onto near the center of town.
Other Things to Note
If you fancy yourself the outdoorsy type, starved rock is just minutes away. Drive along the banks on Illinois River Road and through the curving mountain roads and you will find yourself at Starved Rock State Park (Illinois most visited attraction) There is something for everyone there, be it hiking, boating, or animal watching.
I am a Chicago native through and through. I love ketchup-less hot dogs and pizza you have to eat with a fork and knife. I produce short independent films and in my free time I like to cruise down the river in a pontoon boat or watch netflix for 18 hours straight. Well more like 4 but it can feel like it! I'm courteous of peoples time and I keep a clean house. And if you want to get me talking, lets talk movies.
Kevin Quick purchased this house in 2014
It's perfectly situated right on the river. We own the land right up to the river so drag a chair down and put your feet in. It's only an hour from Chicago so its the perfect place for a getaway. And the housing development we are in couldnt be more relaxed or have nicer folks around.
There's a bar in the basement and a grill upstairs. Perfect place to just relax.
and it sleeps a bunch of people. Have a family reunion!
Excellent property. Tastefully decorated. Perfect family get away. Mr. Quick was a superior host, as he had everything you could imagine at the home waiting for us upon arrival. The house, furnishings, grounds, linens, everything was immaculate. My children and I fished off the water bank, the pool was heated and quaint. We were even able to rent a pontoon boat ten minutes away from the home to "tube" the Illinois river. Cute little restaurants near by. But mainly, a family could simply enjoy the serenity of this home for an entire week or more. We absolutely loved the home and Mr. Quick, thank you again for being a gracious host.
This home was a perfect fit for our family visit back to the Ottawa area! The home, furnishings, pool, and beautiful Heritage Harbor were wonderful! The owners were great to deal with from start to finish! We are considering making this an annual trip and will book early to be able to stay here again!!!
10 miles from Illinois most visited attraction Starved Rock. 6 miles from the countries largest and best maintained skydiving drop zone. 8 miles from The Cliffs zip-lining and off road driving course. Our full sized house can serve as a base camp for all of your Ottawa adventures while you are in town, but plenty of activities in the house can keep you busy too on rainy days.
